After reading the reviews, We got a bit worried.
Well, we thought we could get rather disappointed once there.
I think, people just like sometime to complain for some reasons.
It really is lovely place to be, with everything you need for a great holiday,
with the beach and shops at 5 to 7 minutes walk.
Also we would advice to rent a car to get around. Instead of these Quad bikes that we constantly seem to see broken down by the road sides.
No worries, have fun.

I just returned from quite possibly the worst holiday I have ever had.
Pros:
First of, the resort Anissaras is deserted. You have to walk about 10 minutes to the nearest restuarant, but that restuarant is actually the best part about the holiday. A girl called Tonya at the Greek Tavern Restuarant is very friendly and chatty, we felt comfortable there. The food is really nice there too, and there is a bar called Captains next door which is also pretty awesome. They have TV's to watch the football, and the staff are again quite friendly. Of course, there's also the beach which is beautiful and the sunsets are gorgeous too.
Cons:
Okay, I mentioned earlier the resort is deserted. So staying for two weeks is a BAD idea. You'll have seen everything Anissaras has to offer in about 3 days. We found ourselves in a rather boring routine at nights of going to the Greek Tavern to eat, then to Captains to spend some time, then back to the hotel. There was nothing else to do at nights. You can go to Hersonissos, but honestly you have to wait about an hour for a Taxi to come and the drivers are so wreckless that you'll find yourself throwing up from travel sickness. And besides, Hersonissos isn't even all that great anyway - it's very dirty and the restuarants are basically the same as the Greek Tavern.
Moving on to the hotel, where nothing good can be mentioned. First of, the greek guy at the Reception desk we felt really uncomfortable around. He just gets angry when you don't do what he says (and its hard to understand what he says too) When we arrived, he showed us around our hotel room - and he sounded quite bossy then and said to be very careful not to damage everything making us a bit uneasy.
Now we love to have Air Con, but it's SO EXPENSIVE! Its 10 euro's per day, so if we'd had that for 14 days for both 2 rooms that'd have cost us 280 euro's! That's ridiculous.
Also the bathrooms are a disgrace. The Shower mainly, it's so hard to use without flooding the bathroom. There's a stool with a shower over and you have to with arm shower with it being extra careful not to flood the room. On 2 occasions, we drenched the bathroom and the Cleaner wasn't too happy.
Speaking of the Cleaner, she does a terrible job. She cleans the rooms twice a week and barely does her job that well. She does the beds fine, but she seemingly cannot clean the floor correctly. We noticed that after she'd cleaned there was still loads of crumbs on the floor.
Now outside the room, there's the pool which is terrible. The pool is NOT CLEAN. On the first day, I went in the pool and then developed a water infection. Clearly they don't do a good job at cleaning the pool out. I had to go to a Doctor, pay 100 euro's to get some antibiotics and fight the infection. Terribly overpriced, but I expected it. At least the Doc was friendly.
The Bar was okay, the greek man named Blue was alright. But here's the next big con for myself personally. If you have a fear of dogs: DO NOT COME HERE. I have a terrible phobia of dogs, and I had no idea that a dog named Ella lived at the hotel. This prevented me from sunbathing at times, especially since this is the type of dog that jumps up you and licks your face especially when your eating your food. I found myself staying in the hotel room at many times which was a real shame.
On our last day, we thankfully managed to keep the room, but when we had to stay downstairs there is no shower outside the rooms so you can't keep clean. There are two toilets that haven't been cleaned in donkey's years too.
Conclusion:
Honestly, the best part of this holiday was the plane ride home. It was a terrible holiday, seemingly designed not to suit me at all and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone especially to people who don't like peaceful and dull holidays & especially to people like me with a phobia of dogs.

Just had 1 week at the Kosma Sun apartments. A few people need to remember that this is a Greek 2 star hotel so if you expect clean linen, towels and room cleaned everyday you are seriously deranged! Kosma, the manager, speaks little English but is efficient. He is very proud of his pool and checks it several times a day. The pool is well maintained, clean and a good place to dip to escape the heat, swim, play volley ball etc. They have a small pool for young children. There is a pool bar run by "Blue" and opens according to "Blue" times, so it's not open before 12 in the morning. Blue comes across as an easy going bloke, and expect to be served slowly if young, attractive girls are at the bar. He can also easily turn into a prat if you press him to hard (like reminding him you've asked 3 times for a drink) To be honest he is the only real downer in an otherwise ok 2star hotel.
The rooms are basic but clean and cleaned at least twice a week whilst there. I would advice paying for air conditioning at 10 euros a day, certainly worth getting it for a pleasant nights sleep. The beach is only 5 or 10 mins walk away. You do not really need a torch unless you are a really nervous person as it's not really dark! The beach is good, clean with several bars etc for you to get refreshments. There is a minimarket for basics, but I'd advise going to Hersonnisis for a bigger shop. Having said that unless you are going to cook in your room then all you need is juice, water, milk and basics like bread or cereal etc which the minimarket is fine for.
Captains Bar is good for a drink to sit and watch the beach and for those with younger kids (pool tables etc) The Mylos Beach Bar is, in my opinion, nicer and do great food. You also have the Havanna Club bar as well which is also good for drinks and cocktails. If you turn left after getting to the beach and walk along the front for about 15 minutes you get to Analipsi which has more choice in bars and restaurants.
Places to visit: Hersonnisis, Heraklion, Spingalonga, Agios Nikolaos, Hania, Knossos, water parks.
If you are a couple who want a base to explore, or have younger kids or no kids then this place is ok. If you have older kids that are traditional "kevin" type teenagers then I'd advise this is not for you.

me and my daughter have just returned from kosmasun apartments. we stayed there for 1 week and by the 4th day we wanted to come home, as other reviews have stated the room we stayed in was very basic, 2 rusty hobs, and disgusting rusty cutlery, we had 1 plastic bowl to eat breakfast in and 1 egg cup??!! the air con was a bit expensive but needed it to take away the smell from the bucket in the tiolet which if i hadnt emptied it myself it would of never being done. the end of every day my duty was to empty the bucket, find a bin for our sanitation, and rinse our cups and glasses out with our bottled water to get rid of the salt.the pool was ok but again very salty. the pool bar run by blue was again ok,but little expensive. the nearest beach was lovely and would recommend captains and the greek tavern. the road back up to the apartments had no lighting and a torch would be usuful. the best part was the flight home

The apartment, with 2 balconies, was clean & spacious with plenty of wardrobe space. Hot water always, decent shower & perfectly adequate kitchen facilities. Very nice pool. Pleasant & helpful man reliably on reception. A lovely beach a short walk away. No nightlife & hotel bar too expensive, plus pricey nearby supermarkets (although handy for cans of beer, bread & water). Comfortable and quiet place to stay with 12 minute walk to main road for bus to Hersonnisis for cheaper supermarket, eating out & bars. Just 1.40 euros each way or 8 euros for a taxi to the door. The beautiful Agos Nikolas an hour's cheap busride away for a day out. Hersonnisis very wild late at night for 18-30s but U2 Rock Bar on the sea front a good place to chill & people watch & listen to decent music. 2 euros for a big beer!

Me and my partner have just returned from 14 nights at the Kosma Sun apartments - all I can say is that this is possibly the worst hotel I have ever stayed in.
I know this is only a 2 star hotel and the rooms were clean enough basic but clean upon arrival, but in the 2 weeks we were there the bed linen and towels were only changed twice(once a week), your only allowed 1 toilet roll per week, if the towels are soiled you are charged €12 per towel, the kitchette comprised of a kettle and 2 electric rings, be sure to take equipment with you as nothing is provided at all.
The bathroom had to be the worst, the shower was a stool over a disgusting looking drain next to the toilet with a hand held shower head, no shower curtains so gets very wet and dangerous, I fell on the wet floor and smacked my head on the marble floor but when this was roported to the manger and to our Olympic rep neither of them was interested in the slightest.
Our flight home was on the Sat morning but we still had to vacate the room before 12noon on the Friday beforehand, when we aksed for a late room we were told that there were none availble, we found out later that there were rooms and were let to people after we were told there wasn't any. There are no facilities for you to have a shower or get changed in private in this instance.
If you do wish to stay in this resort, which is lovely by the way, then try the Kosta Mare Palace which is just down the road opposite the beach, and also try the Captains resturant the food is gorgeous and the staff extremley friendly and helpful. I must stress though this resort is in the middle of nowhere perfect if your looking for a very quiet resort but not the place if your after bars or nightclubs.
As for the Kosta Sun.... please please save your money!!!

We just got back from staying at the kosmasun apartments, after reading some reviews i really feel like elaborating on a few finer points, Firstly we are a family of nine mostly grown up kids but still have two of them young being twelve and fourteen. It was the best holiday any of us have had so far in our lives, i cooked for all nine of us, i moved the bed out of one of the apartments and brought in the tables from the other rooms, i did breakfast every day on that two ring partly rusty old hob!!!! it tasted fantastic!! we washed up in one of the other apartments and yes we washed the glasses before we used them anyway. Kosmos is typical for his culture as are we british, after all we where in greece of course he is greekish!!!! still lovely and likes to run a fair establishment, i suppose he must be used to the average punter trying to con the old timer out of extra bog roll... doesnt say much for the british culture does it... Overall it was clean and tidy, the pool was clean and we had sooooo much fun in it. we were not broke either when we got back because this was a very cheep deal. we made our holiday fun and used a friendly hotel with clean beds to do it in. Thanks Kosmos i will never forget you. from the Kirkes

ITS GREAT HERE.... i have just come back from a fantasic holiday in this delightful hotel. I was a little worried as the feedback from previous years were a little negative, but rest assured i need'nt have worried at all. We arrived in the very early hours to a wonderful welcome from 'Kosma' the owner. The pool bar had stayed open just for us for food and drink, The pool bar is run by a wonderful family Nikos & and his english wife Natasha & thier two boys Thomas & Dimitri. They have a wonderful range of food and drink available and the breakfast is great (with english sausages). And thier milkshakes are well worth a try and proved very popular with my son. Its 8 euros into Hersonnissoss town and well worth a visit. The pool was very clean and safe and Kosma seemed very proud of his swimming pool bless him. If you have booked to go here please dont be put off by previous comments like i was, We had a wonderful time and for cheap and cheerful holiday i couldnt fault this Hotel at all.

Myself and my partner, (both in early 20's) enjoyed a lovely 10 days at the Kosma Sun Apts. Kosma himself, was charming and only too happy to help at any opportunity. We found the hotel and pool area to be extreemly clean, (basically equipped but fine for a budget holiday). Within a short walk there were many restaurants and shops and the pool bar offered some fantastic, relaxed company, thanks to Nikos, Natasha and the boys :)
The day trips certainly seemed popular and well worth the money.
Overall a lovely holiday and would certainly return one day. I feel that other reviews that we have found have been extreemly unfair. We booked this as a cheap last minute deal and were pleasantly suprised!!
Definately worth a trip!!

Got back from a very enjoyable, peaceful, relaxing holiday at Kosma Sun Apts on 17th Sept. Kosma the owner was extremely nice to us for the whole two weeks, he was polite and tried to make our stay as comfortable as possible. Yes, he did point out that any breakages were to be paid for, which is quite understandable, 5***** hotels do the same. but during our stay there I found out from an individual that Kosma only gets paid 7 euros per room per week from Olympic Holidays, which would go a long way to explain why he cannot afford to subsidise breakages.
However starting with the rooms, our room was very clean, sheets & towels were changed 3 times a week, by a lovely lady called Diana, the beds had very good mattresses and were comfortable, the 2 ring cooker had got rust on it and so had the cutlery, this no doubt was from the high salt content in the water, however a good scrub bought the cutlery up brand new. Everyone at these apartments made a special effort to keep quiet which was really appreciated, the pool area was cleaned every day, and was so peaceful and relaxing just to lounge about.
The Pool bar was lovely, with Nikos, Natasha (English wife) Dimitri & Tomas their sons, who were so charming and polite, and did a very nice full English breakfast costing 5.50 euros, well worth it. Anissaras itself is a very quiet sleepy resort, with just 2 supermarkets and a couple of tavernas, on our first night there we went to Captains restaurant for a meal it was absolutely awful we both left our meal which was barely warm, I do not recommend Captains for a meal, and noticing how empty it was each night, it seemed most tourists felt the same.
A 1km walk East along the seafront bought us to the small town of Analipsi, where there were some excellent restaurants and a good selection of shops, so for most of the holiday this is where we ate, it was slightly more expensive but well worth it. The Beach at Anissaras is a 2km stretch of sand, but beware the sea-bed is quite rocky and I recommend sea shoes, however the sea was as warm as bath water, and was very enjoyable.
There are regular buses to Hersonissos (1.40 euros) and Heraklion (4 Euros) my only criticism were the prices of drinks a small bottle of Coke was 2.50 euros roughly £2.00 and tea and coffee were the same. I suggest stocking up from the local supermarket where Coke is 60 cents a can. I have been to Crete 8 times now and I would definitely go back to these apartments just for the peace & quiet, the walk to the beach is about 15 mins and may not be suitable for people with walking difficulties.

MY HUBAND AND I TRAVELLED HERE FOR A RELAXING WEEKS HOLS, WE ARE BOTH IN OUR 40'S. WHEN WE ARRIVED AFTER A LATE FLIGHT (5.00AM ISH) WE WERE ESCORTED TO ROOM BY KOSMOS THE OWNER, HE WENT THROUGH RULES AND REGULATIONS AND KEPT SAYING "YOU BREAK, YOU PAY", IF A GROUP OF YOU ARRIVE AT SAME TIME HE DOES THIS TOUR ROUND YOUR ROOM INDIVIDUALLY SO AFTER A LONG FLIGHT YOU COULD STILL BE WAITING A WHILE UNTIL YOU CAN GO TO BED, AS A GROUP OF FELLOW HOLIDAYMAKERS FOUND OUT. ACCOMODATION IS BASIC GREEK. THE BEDS AND SHEETS ARE CLEAN. IF YOU INTEND TO TO COOK YOUR OWN FOOD THEN BE PREPARED TO USE RUSTY CUTLERY, CROCKERY AND GLASSWARE NEEDED A GOOD WASH. AIRCON IS 8 EUROS A NIGHT SO WAS PRETTY PRICEY. ADVISE YOU TO TAKE YOUR OWN LOO ROLL AS YOU ARE GIVEN ONE ONLY AND CAN ASK FOR ANOTHER WHEN 3 DAYS HAVE PASSED. BINS AREN'T EMPTIED AND WE FOUND THIS QUITE UNUSUAL FOR GREECE AS USUALLY THE ONE IN THE BATHROOM IS USUALLY EMPTIED DAILY, NOT THE CASE HERE THOUGH.OCCASIONAL WIFF OF THE SCEPTIC TANK BY THE ENTRANCE AND AROUND THE POOL WAS REALLY QUITE UNPLEASANT. THE POOL BAR IS RUN BY A FAMILY, NICOS, NATASHA AND THEIR SONS HELP OUT ( TOMAS AND DIMITRI). NICOS DOES TRY TO PERSUADE YOU TO EAT THERE ALL THE TIME AND ALWAYS HAS SOMETHING BAD TO SAY ABOUT THE PLACES WHERE YOU EAT.NATASHA IS LOVELY. AREA AROUND POOL BAR IS PRETTY POOR, CARDBOARD BOXES COVER THE FLOOR AND THEIR WERE LOTS OF MOSSIES IN THIS AREA. WE FOUND THE BAR TO BE PRETTY PRICEY AS OPPOSED TO LOCAL TAVERNAS.
WE HAVE BEEN TO A FEW GREEK ISLANDS AND THIS IS ONE WE WILL NOT RETURN TO. WE FOUND HE LOCALS NOT AS WELCOMING AS OTHER PLACES WE HAVE BEEN TO. WHEREVER WE HAVE BEEN BEFORE,THE PEOPLE HAVE TREATED US AS LONG LOST FAMILY, NOT THE CASE HERE.
IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A QUIET AREA WITH NOT VERY HIGH EXPECTATIONS THEN THIS IS THE PLACE FOR YOU. i WOULD NOT ADVISE THIS AS A PLACE FOR 18-30 AGE GROUP BUT IS MORE AN AREA FOR OLDER COUPLES. TOO QUIET ALSO FOR FAMILIES.

Me my wife & 3 children. Really enjoyed this holiday, for the price we paid it did the job, rooms were clean staff are friendly, Blue who runs the bar is 1st class he was great with all of us. The apartments are in a good spot. not to far to the beach & taverns, And not to far to the bus stops. We spent 2 weeks here most of them days we went on organised trips or just jumped on a bus and seen the sights. loads of things to do, we just searched on internet before our holiday, Night time we went to the Greek tavern very friendly place and great staff. Also captain bar is also very good. People just need to think if you pay to stay in a 2-3 star accommodation don`t expect 5 star facilities. The beach is probably the best on the island. (lots of sand). Even all the local people are very friendly their is a local store i think it was called Mikes. Mlke would invite you to have a few drinks with him and just chat.If your the type of person who likes to moan it will probably show and that will be why you don`t get the same warm friendly experience we had. We will come back again
