The Ye Old Carlton is the cheapest hotel in New York. Each room has been painted by a student artist and are all VERY DIFFERENT.
The hotel is clean and very basic but is very cheap. If I return to New York on a budget I would stay at this hotel again, however take ear plugs not double glazed and the city that never sleeps can be noisy at night. The staff are helpful, but no lift you have to carry your bags up the stairs.
On arrival you will be given keys to all the available rooms and you can go and view them and pick the best, so arrive early otherwise your left with bad rooms. Let me remind you this is a budget hotel but this saved us about £600 for a week’s stay and you’re close to the tubes and a walk to the empire state building is only 15 mins.
Not for people who like to lie in bed whilst breakfast is served but is for people who just want somewhere to sleep while they explore one of the most exciting cities.
