On arrival at the hotel at 07:00 with our two friends, we were allocated rooms which I would not let a dog stay in, The rooms looked like they had not been cleaned and had ripped and stained chairs (later we found out the rooms probably had been cleaned, but had just been abused by young guest so much, they looked all most derelict), the reception staff tried to allocate us another available room which was just as bad, so after speaking to the manager at around 09:30 and refusing to stay in a room in that state we were allocated another room of a better standard but had to wait until 14:30 to get the room, things seemed a little better. Unfortunately not, as the day and night went on, the noise in the hotel and especially the pool outside our room (nominated as the quiet pool) was unbearable. The hotel is advertised in the Olympic catalogue as “can be noisy due to groups of young guests in peak season”, it should be advertised as “will never be quiet, so don’t try to sleep”. For a full 13 days, during the day, afternoon, night and early hours of the morning, the Italian young guest constantly shouted at each other in the pool (even though they were stood next to each other), the European young guests drank and danced on their balconies throwing there bottles over the roof, music was played at all hours, without any regard for anyone else (Although the security staff would try to clear the pool during the night if you called reception). The pool was invaded daily by different groups of young guests (mainly Israelis most of which were not staying the hotel, and did not treat the pool very hygienically)(I honestly do not like naming a particular nationality of youth, as I understand there are cultural differences, but a lack of respect for anyone else was shown and it would be unfair to say all of the nationalities acted the same) the roads outside and inside the hotel were used as a race track and an area for trying stunts on the quads and scooters.
Unfortunately for us during the first week, there was a daily bell ringing practice in the church at the rear of the hotel each morning and late evening.
Altogether there was no peace and you did not feel totally safe in your room at night (as most doors had small holes in them). We ended up going daily to the nearby Androthea hotel pool which was much better and peaceful.
I understand young people like to enjoy themselves and let of steam, but not being that much older, I struggle to find a good point about the stay at this hotel other than to say, the staff including the manager, were pleasant and helpful, especially on reception, who deserve a medal for being able to manage in what I can only describe as cattle market for most of the day and night. We booked this hotel as our friends accompanying us had stayed there a couple of years earlier in September to October, and apart from the karaoke at the front of the hotel (which finished at 12 pm) they had enjoyed there stay.
This is our third visit to Cyprus and Ayia Napa and I hope this review will not deter anyone from visiting Cyprus, as the Island is unique and has a rugged beauty. The surrounding sea is excellent, and a boat trip is well worth the time, there are plenty of restaurants and fast food outlets in Ayia Napa as well a holiday type shops. The surrounding countryside does not change much until you reach the mountains, but neither do the people who I believe have a genuine relaxed and pleasant nature.
All in all it is with great regret that I have a negative review and will probably never return during peak season, no matter how the hotels are described in the holiday catalogues.

Hi all just came back from a week stay at the ANTHEA APTS ,
Like everyone else that had read the reviews I was very worried about the state of the apartment so here are my views on the complex
Apon arrival the staff were friendly enough so that was ok, got the key to our room ( room 112) ground floor face the pool ( yea I hear you say ) not!!! when we got to our room the room smelled damp and musty, but after traveling all night we just hit the bed.. only to be woken aprox 3 hours later by very loud and heavy rave/dance music... when I got up to open the curtains and sliding door in my little pj's there was a man just sitting outside our window!! we were right behind the bar!! It was so close we could order a drink from it ( im not messing)... so that was the story there for the next week crawl into bed at 6 or 7 woken at 10am!! the music is very heavy at times and it played from 10am to closing (7pm) so forget chilling at the pool with a hangover :-), also we could not open the curtains at all while we were in the room as everyone at the pool or bar could look right in, there are a few rooms like this and I think they were th same,
the bedroom door used to stick and had to pull it open, the shower curtain was musty and there was mould at the bottom of the bathroom door, the bed linen wasnt the cleanest I have to say either.
we got one bath towel( not very big ) and one hand towel each that was changed every second day and the room was clean every other day as well..
We had a nice fridge and basic cultery and the resident Ant family was cool too, ( in fairness you get there everywere and it was nearly 40d) got some spray at reception so that was ok....
€45 for aircon is a bit steep but you need it , you also get €8 back for the deposit..
Safe is at reception and very small so dont bring anything very valuable if you need to put it in the safe it wont fit..
Food at bar is nice and not expensive ( €6.50) for big club sandwhich with lots of chips) but €250 for a basic ice pop... €4 for a cocktail and €3.50 for bottle bud which is cheap...
The pool wasnt cleaned at all when we were there and was a bit murkey, rules that you cant get into the pool after seven were ignored and the poor old security man was chasing people around the pool are 6am and its also a €50 fine if your caught so be aware ...
The usual scramble for sun bed's and some were not great either.
Supermarket right across the road and very cheap too, they say you cant bring in food but we did not have a problem than water from our room to the pool, Mc Donalds also across the road really everything at your door step that you need..
€8 in a taxi from here to Nissi beach even if you walk half way there its a set price..
All in all it does what it says on the tin, basic self catering, if you are looking for somewhere fancy dont stay here but like us if your just in and out to sleep and change its ok but not for the price we paid.. €670e for a week.
All in I would say for location this is top notch food is nice and drink is cheap but that is it....

This place is disgusting don't let the Thomson video clip fool you. Once you have past the large pool featured I wouldn't rate it for rats let alone people. We had cockroaches, mold on the walls, nails hanging out of the sofa bed, the front door was hanging on by the top hinge only. The video shows a substantial sized kitchen you'll be lucky to get a space larger than a fridge. Very dirty your sheets aren't replaced with clean ones just rotated. We had to ask for clean towels and sheets and are told the tour operator only allows us to give clean twice a week. I wouldn't pay £2.50 let alone the £2500 we paid for a hovel. Giving a 1/10 rating is too much

I cant believe this hotel is reviewed as a 3 star, these apartments runied our 2 week family holiday. when booking this holiday we requested a ground floor room due to my mum having great difficulty in walking when walking to our room we found that the only way to get to the room was to walk up a hill that people had no problems walking would have difficulty with, we were then faced with a set of stairs with a wobbly banister.
Upon arrival at the anthea aparments we were greeted with 2 quite large cockroaches, we went straight down to the office and was told a cleaner would be sent up immdiatley to clean the room, 2 days later the cleaner arrived, after the ants had taken the squashed cockroaches away.
We also requested for the air con and was fully aware that they would charge a small fee for it, we were told the overall fee for 2 rooms air con use would set us back 200 euro's and for just one it would cost us around 100 euro's, as it was so hot and humid we had no choice but to get the air con.
we also noticed that the cleaners only swept the middle of the floor, as we found hairclips that were there when we arrived and then were still there when we left.they also left us with dirty towels for a week with but gave us no clean towels, we also didnt recieve regular bed sheet changes, the cleaner just alternated all the sheets that we had.
the kitchen of a self catering apartment was appauling, we had no oven, or anything, we had 2 cupboards, fridge, 2 hob rings and that was it. no room to use the work space.
our front door was hanging on by 1 hinge as though someone had kicked the door with great force.
staff hand out spare keys to any room to anyone without any proof of identity or proof of staying at hotel.
the pool was ridiculously dirty, there was a cloudiness about it, the grate around the pool was black with dirt an mould.
we had damp and mould all up the walls in every room, the electrics were hanging out of the plug socket where you put the key.
we later noticed the cleaner cleaning the toilet with a cloth then went into the main room an started to clean the table and kitchen area with the same cloth.
the furniture was dirty it had black marks all over it, u couldnt wear white and sit down.
when we complained to the reception we were answered with a simple grunt and a look of "what do u want me to do about it"
I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THESE APARTMENTS TO ANIMALS NEVER MIND PEOPLE. IF YOU ARE GOING TO THESE APAPRTMENTS DEMAND TO BE ALLOCATED SOMEWHERE ELSE.

Hi,
We stayed here from 30th July ~ 13th August this year. The apartment itself was fine (if you are in the main block anyway)...The only thing I would warn people is
1) The cleaners tend to steal things
2) Although the safety deposit boxes are based in reception, they are worth having for the simple fact that if anything ever did go missing from there, Anthea are responsible.
3) Reception GIVE OUT SPARE KEYS TO ANYONE. I went to reception and asked for the spare key to my friends room. All i gave was there room number. They didnt ask my name, check identification or anything so beware. My room was broken into and I am certain this is how!! I would therefore advise you to obtain ALL spare keys when you arrive!
4) The staff there can be quite violent so do watch your mouth... LOL!
If it werent for the problems with reception, i would recommend them.

This hotel is the most disguisting hotel I have ever stayed in. To say it is dirty is an understatement! Your feet end up black everyday from where the floor is never swept, the walls are flithy with cracks which run all the way around the room. We had sheets that I wouldn't even use as a nappy, they were covered in holes and were dirty even upon arrival! Im surprised if they had even been washed. The so called fourth bed is a sofa with as many stains of god knows what on that any self respecting person would refuse to sleep on it. Luckily we didnt have to! The rooms have ants in them which appear from the toilet???? And on the last day an oh so friendly cockroach the size of small boy made an appearance on our balcony. Also ladies if you want to straighten and dry your hair dont even think of doing it at the same time, it knocks the electric off and you will be told not to use your appliances because it is your fault not the crap electrics!
Moving from the rooms into the reception. The decor is like something from the 1950's and it wouldn't surprise me if the chairs hadn't been cleaned since then! The chairs which were suppose to have blue and cream patterns on them were actually blue and brown. I wouldn't worry about catching an STI from anyone else you could probably get one from the chairs! The pool area is also dirty - the pool was never cleaned and seemed to have a strange cloudyness about it. The 'white' grates surrounding the pool were covered in green mould and there was clumps of hair stuck in the grates which was obviously a lovely sight to see around the pool!
Oh yes and the staff, a set of chimps could have probably been more helpful than the people who worked there. When we arrived the reception staff grunted at us to the see our paper work and asked us to sign some papers with no explaination as to what they were. When asked to do anything for the rest of the holiday they appeared to have lost all knowledge of how to interect with people, were damn rude, and could not care less what you had to say whether it be good or bad.
When leaving don't even bother asking if you can keep the room to shower in as we were told three different types of information before being informed on the day of our departure that we couldn't keep the room because the hotel was too full. Must have been imaginary people checking in though because we never saw anyone! When asked if there was anywhere to shower we were sent to the showers that were suppose to be used when the 'gym' had been used. Also whilst spending our last fews hours by the pool hotel staff coincidently managed to find their voices as they came around the pool charging people for 'damages' which were amounting to 100+ Euros after grunting at everyone for the rest of their holiday. Thankfully we had no damages in our rooms so weren't charged.
Finally I have stayed in budget 3 star hotels before and have never experienced this low level of standards before. To say the Anthea is a 3 star hotel is an absolute joke and I think it should be the hotel which is paying its customers to stay there rather than the other way round! On the plus side it is not to say that all of Aiya Napa is the same, as all the other hotels we saw looked well maintained and the resort was absolutlely fantastic with lovely restaurants and excellent nightlife.

Flew out on 06/08/08 returned 14/08/08.
This place is the worst hotel I have EVER experienced!!! I can't even begin to explain how unclean it is, on the first night just from walking around the room my feet were black with dirt from the floor as it never got swept! We walked in to find a broken chair, a disgusting 'sofa bed' with stains allover it, dirty bed sheets, sandy floor, pubic hair still in the bath, ants all over the floor...dead and alive!!
It was like something from hell. There were big stains and cracks allover the walls and cieling and the bathroom tiles on the cieling looked as tho theywere about to collaps from all the damp! The beds were not even properly made...for three 22 year olds expecting a basic holiday we were disgusted!!
When we checked in we paid for air con which you expect...that was the only good part about the hotel but it cost around 55 euros just for one week for the bedroom...we then went on to pay for the safe which was a tiny box in reception we were given a key that wasnt even on a key ring, we tried to open the safe corresponsing to our room but it wouldnt but when we asked for help he came and used the key in a random safe and said it was ours...he'd not even told us the number or anything he must have just expected us to know... not suprisingly for this hotel the number of the safe was also inscribed on the key, clever thinking?!
It is unbelievable how rude and unhelpful the staff at this hotel are and it made you worry if something did happen, could you even look to them for help. They basically grunt at you and it seems like the slightest for of communication is an effort!
We complained on the first day to the rep and requested for the room to be cleaned again and the sheets to be changed, which never happened! We didn't see the rep after that and she never tried to follow up our complaint.. she was probably fed up with people complaining as there were 2 other groups just at the welcome meeting who bombarded her with things that were wrong!
The rooms were never cleaned, our hair blew the electrics and we were told bot to use it again even though it was the right voltage as we had used it in protaras 3 weeks previous. The hotel room was never cleaned we had a huge cochroach on the balcony for the whole week which was never swept up, we had an infestation of ants in the bathroom and once we sprayed them they were never swept up after 4 days! The sheets were never changed, the towels were a dusgusting brown colour, the floor was never swept. The whole room just wasn't touched buy the cleaners the whole week we were there!
The pool is disgusting too, it was never cleaned the whole time we were there, there all mould and moss and stuff on the drains at the side and it was really cloudy.
The whole place is a state i can't stress enough how disgusting it was, to pay £570 per person for a week in this place felt like a slap in the face and i dread to think who gave it it's 3 star rating, we were embarassed for people to see us walking out of the place. We have been to lively places before, Zante, Magaluf and Kos and nowhere has ever disappointed us like this.
On the last day we asked to keep our room on, the response from staff was 'no chance' which with no explanation isn't good enough. The only English woman out of the staff had the biggest attitude problem and a massive chip on her shoulder, she treat customers like pieces of dirt and just rolled her eyes! We gave in in the end and were told to use a manky shower room underground which was meant for the gym, it had no plugs to dry your hair and stunk because people used it as a pollside toilet!
On checking out (hurrah!!) we were asked for the reciepts for our safe key and air con key...we were never told to save them and have never needed them to get the few euro refund in any hotel before. We assumed if we didn't have the recipt then we wouldn't get the deposit but the woman on reception was that dense she didn't really know what was going on! We spent the last few hours at the pool only to realise that the real reason you can't keep your rooms on is so they can inspect them for 'damage' we heard people talking about 200 euro bills for damage which was already made to the rooms on their arrival. They were also telling people they couldn't stay around the pool once they had checked out, even though most flights weren't getting picked up til after 6pm, what a joke!
This is only a small part of what we experienced in the Anthea Apartments, we read the reviews before we went and hoped it wouldn't be as bad but they were worse than we could ever have imagined!
Thomas Cook should be embarassed to have this 'hotel' on its books and if they want to keep up their good reputation they should start looking into places like this that people are constantly complaining about as it's just bad customer service!
It is not a quiet hotel as we asked for, it is not a family hotel as they explain it in alot of the brochures. The pictures are about 15 years out of date and the staff don't deserve anyones money. If you ask me this place needs bulldozing to the ground as it was the only hotel in Aiya Napa that we wouldnt want to stay in!
Aiya Napa is amazing it's safe especially for girls as there's alot of police around and security and (apart from the Anthea Apartments) it's really modern and clean. Cocktails are around 6 euros but you get so many free drinks it just costs the same as a normal night out and the bars and clubs are amazing! There's also some fantastic places to eat like Zizzi's Italian and the Chinese they own next door! Limanaki (?!) Beach is also really nice and the sun loungers are only 2 euros each.
Also a big thanks to the Thomas Cook rep on the way to the airport, he was really nice and chatty and redeemed Thomas Cooks repuation from the pretty poor service we recieved from the rep in the hotel. He also got us extra legroom seats for free on the plane :)
Don't waste your time in this poor excuse for a hotel Aiya Napa would have been a 10/10 if we would have stayed in any of the other hotels in the area, we'd definately go back to the resort again but NEVER this hotel!!

Ok, so th place is pretty basic but what do you expect in the middle of Ayia Napa? The place is amazing!! Ayia Napa is the place to be. And, lets face it if ur actually gonna spend time in your room then theres something wrong with you! The pool area was clean and spacious with music playing all day long - which was great. The choice of food at the pool bar was good and it was reasonably cheap too. Plenty of shops nearby which were dirt cheap as well as restaurants etc.
Only a short wlk to the square and the karaoke from the hotel bar got us right in the mood! Ayia Napa is immense!! Recommend fantasy boat cruise to anyone!!!!!! it was the best night ever!! Also, once ur tired head over to River Regae - its amazin!!!! definately do The Castle but go Marinella bar first for free tickets!! :D
there was myself and 3 other girls on the hol and we had the time of our lives. The bad bits of the hotel (ants here and there and misunderstandings with staff -their english isn't fab) made the holiday even more so!!!
Anyone going here will have the time of their lives - jealous of u as we wanna go back!!!

Me and 3 friends stayed here for 2 weeks a few weeks ago and i had never expected it to be so bad after reading the reviews, but it was terrible! There were so many problems and bad points about the apartments we lost count!
Our air con broke 3 times, which we paid for on the first day (expensive i thought too) and they gave us no money back. They also gave us no money back for a remote control, which didnt work for the air con, which we paid for for 14 nights!
The staff were amongst the most rude, unhelpful people i have ever come across! The maids are so loud and rude when your still sleeping and they give you dirty sheets and towels! Ours were stained with blue ink and footprint marks! And the receptionists were a disgrace! One hung up on my friend after asking for the technician and told her 'to go find him herself!'
We also had no hot water for showers! Apparently 'too many people use the showers at the same time,' and the 'kitchenette' is beyond basic!
The only good point about these apartments is it's location! Near to the beach, nightlife, restaurants and a supermarket! Although it isn't the best supermarket!
I wish i could have come back and written a great review, but i really find it hard to find good points! Although we had a very big terrace, although it was always covered with water due to a leak!
I cant complain about Ayia Napa as a resort though. It always has something for you to do! And Nissi beach has the largest amount of water sports, and the flyfish is a must!
I'd just advise people to go somewhere else if they want clean, functioning apartments with friendly helpful staff!

before we went on holiday, we read all the reviews on anthea apts. most of the reviews were bad, saying there would be cockroaches and dirty facilities. when we got there, we were pleasantly suprised to find clean rooms with no bugs and loads of space. it was basic, but the staff were helpful and freindly, and the pool and bar were good. the only bad thing really was the air con. you have to pay for it, which is stupid, but we just rented a fan for 10 euros from the shop round the corner.

Me and my friend went here for one week at the end of June (got back yesterday) when we arrived we werent expecting much but we had the most amazing time. Our room was perfect and the balcony was huge. We had a basic kitchen which suited us fine as we werent planning on using it anyway. We didnt pay for air con as our room was cooler during the night and as we werent coming home till the early hours it wasnt a problem. The only thing we didnt like was that we had two red cockroaches in our room!!!!
If you are looking for a cheap place to stay with loads of young people then this is definately the right place to go!!!
It is perfectly placed the beach isnt far and there are lots of places to eat, maccy d's is literally opposite the hotel, KFC and Burger King are round the corner. The restaurants are nice especially Napiana!!
The square is a five minute walk away and the bars and clubs are immense just be prepared to spend lots on drinks.
