Hillthwaite House Hotel

We took our son, daughter-in-law, and 6 yr old grandson who were visiting from Shanghai for a three day break in Lakeland. No major problems except room 21 was very small and extremely hot as it was adjacent to the boiler room. I felt that this could have been mentioned on arrival and the option to change given. Food was really good, the only exception being that the "roast sirloin"on the Sunday night was very tough. The pool was a welcome addition despite the lack of decent changing faciliies. hillthwaite house hotel stayed june/july 07 First impressions from road very posh, excellent location,. This was our first wedding anniversary and my expectations were high. This was an expensive hotel when i first booked it, but after our stay it was well worth it. We stayed in Lodge 1 (seperate from hotel)a short covered stroll from the main building. Truely wonderful stay. My husband and I stayed for one night only on a Saturday in June and when we called to book I was really surprised they let us stay for just the one night. Most hotels in the Lakes have a policy of a two night stay over the weekend - so we were very lucky. We got a really good deal, the cost was much less that I thought and it included a standard double room with dinner bed and breakfast. Stayed at the Hillwaite House Hotel for 2 nights, whilst the room was ok, we were in room 33, sinks were in the main room rather than in the bathroom (not our cup of tea). We were bed and breakfast only had breakfast one morning, full english breakfast nothing special, food had been left under hot lamp, eggs like rubber. Overall would have to say for the prices they are charging not worth the money. Would not go back.. V & D Aberdeen

My wife and I stayed in the hotel in mid June and found it to be a great place. The hotel was clean and tidy, the food was tasty and the staff were polite and friendly. Our room, number 33, had a great view of the lake and was a reasonable size with a comfortable four poster bed. The bathroom was nice, tiled floor to ceiling, however the jacuzzi bath was a bit on the loud side. Hard to see why this hotel is just 3* could be a 5* .This holiday was so good thanks to the Hillthwaite hotel.All the staff were fantastic and we have recommended this hotel to friends who are think of going to the lake district.

We have just returned from the most beautiful hotel in a lovely part of the country! From the booking direct, with hotel to check out the staff where fantastic, this Hotel is amazing. We stayed in room 30 the first eve and had views of lake Windermere, we had a four poster bed with jacuzzi bath. On the second night we stayed in room 16 which had the most amazing panoramic bay window view you could wish for,this included the lake and also had a jacuzzi bath, we could not fault anything about this hotel and will be returning... more

We travelled with our two boys to this lovely hotel for three nights.Although our room(one)was not what we expected from a family room(needed refubishment and cramped for 4 people).Our stay was wonderful,very relaxed and the food was just perfect.It's nice to take children to a hotel who dosen't encourage chicken nuggetts and chips and a load of fizzy drinks. Another great thing about this hotel....... it dosen't rip you off when you come to pay your bar bill I would highly recommend this hotel to all, including family's

Hillthwaite House Hotel is a very clean and comfortable hotel. The staff on reception and in the restaurant are extremely friendly and efficient. Our room was quite large, and beautifully decorated with a lovely modern bathroom, and all the facilities we required. The lounge areas and restaurant were really nice. Our table in the restaurant for breakfast and evening meal was positioned with a most wonderful view with Lake Windermere in the distance. Visited Hillthwaite 20th April 2007 to celebrate my 40th birthday with my husband. The food was fantastic - couldn't manage all the courses the first night but made sure second night we ate nothing apart from breakfast, which was also lovely - plenty of choice, fruits, juices, cereals and then a choice from the grill - I recommend the English breakfast.
