My wife booked the stay for my birthday and we were not let down! We had stayed twice before but the hotel was obviously as good as ever! We were treated to lovely food, with special care taken with my wife's vegan diet. the room was beautifully prepared and a delight to enjoy with the sea views an added bonus. Staff were at all times very helpful and courteous with nothing too much trouble.
We really do recommend this hotel, value the care and sense of special we enjoyed and look forward to making a return visit before too long!

Hotel was in a lovely location with excellent views. We had high hopes for the room which were dashed the minute we entered it. Although the bedding was immaculate the room was tatty the carpet old and stained, furniture looked like it came from a junk shop with only 4 hangers in the wardrobe. There was a large plant in the room and you could actually write your name in the dust on its leaves, there was also a thick layer of dust on the top of the bed canopy. The paintwork was chipped and scratched. There was no central heating in either the bedroom or bathroom and not even a heated towel rail. We were provided with 2 plug in electric heaters but as there was no timer you either left them on all night or faced a freezing room in the morning. There was no phone in the room and most mobiles don't work in Port Isaac. The loo seat was loose and the hot water tap on the bath was faulty.
Breakfast was good except the cheap quality sausage let it down as did the dirty t-shirt worn by the waitress.
This hotel has the potential to be excellent and the prices they charge imply a high standard, however, the photos on the website are misleading and the hotel is obviously capitalising on the tourism brought into the resort by the Doc Martin TV series. This hotel is of a very low standard and I would not recommend it to anyone.

We stayed at the Old School in a double room, for £87 a night, over a weekend. The room had been recently decorated, and there was obviously a lot of that going on as there seemed to be lots of people working in and around the hotel. It wasn't intrusive though so didn't affect our holiday.
Port Isaac is really beautiful, and apparently is very busy in the summer, but it wasn't crowded at all when we went. The hotel has a very good position in the village, and the food was really excellent. We ate on one night which was excellent and was about £20 a head for 2 courses. The menu was mainly fish from Cornish waters, but being a meat eater I went for the steak which was very good. My wife had Bream which she said was very nice. Lovely wine too.
Can't really fault the holiday at all as it was the perfect relaxation weekend we both needed. We'll be back!

The Old school house has got some plus points; the views, the proximity to beautiful coastal walks and the peace and quiet.
Unfortunately it is over priced at £160+ per room per night for 'would be' boutique style rooms. I say would be because they are decorated to a reasonably nice standard but you find bits of IKEA dotted around the place.
The staff are very friendly but unprofessional with nobody around in the afternoon. Breakfast is a farce with a 500ml juice jug left out for upward of 12 guests to share. The breakfast one morning took 45mins from sit down to arrival!
The evening menu is a letdown with unseasonal none local produce being used.
Overall a bit of a shambles, and overpriced at that.

I enjoyed my recent stay at The Old Schoolhouse and would definitely return! Port Isaac is a lovely, quaint Cornish fishing village and did not disappoint. The rooms were small but clean and very warm. They were all different, quiet and had lovely views. We had two rooms in our group - one single and one double. Very comfortable beds and a good television. Very clean and lots of pillows! Some rooms only have a shower head on the taps of the bath - so if you like showers ask for one in your room. The young girl on the Reception was very friendly and welcoming. The breakfast was good but after the cooked breakfast was served no one bothered with us so we could not order another pot of tea or more toast which was a shame.
