The first holiday was in May 2011 for a week. We could not fault the food, cleanliness of the entire complex, and the staff were lovely. Yes, the hotel is situated outside of the resort, but there is a free train throughout the day and evening to take you to and from the... more

Where do I start, I had a family room which consists of 3 single beds downstairs and 2 single beds upstairs in what I would call a loft room, but the pitch is that low you have to bend over and walk to the bed, the sheets were never changed for the duration of 1 week, the... more

this is an ideal family hotel, not as previously mentioned one for stag and hen's,to quiet for them and quite frankly you are not welcome when you wake everyone up,so try a hotel near the bars and beach.food great, even if you are fussy, very clean, all of the staff are great.didn't want to come home, will be going back

Cancel while you still can!
After reading some bad reviews we were a bit worried about this hotel as we have two teenage daughters and well i have to say we should have took other peoples adviced. We hated every minute of it. The room was very crapped four beds in a row a small balcony with two chairs on it when there was five of us and walls so thin you can even here the person next door to you putting a plug in the wall or snoring at night. Also the entertainment as stated on the holiday websites was non exsistant, there was a board near reception which stated that each night there was music on offer but music started at 9am in the morning and was played all day by the pool... you could even here it in the rooms right up to 12 at night. The food was always cold even if we tryed to get there when it had first opened and often whatever they served for lunch was mixed with something in a salad or pie for dinner. The pool area was very small and you had to be up around 6.30/7 and put ur towels on the floor to get any space near it, the beds were unlocked around 8am once the cleaner was finished. The town was a free bus ride away and was quite big but was very sea sidey. The there is also a train station in this town in which you can get a train to barcelona for the day for 6euro each return.. its a very good day out that i would def recommend where as if you go on the hotel coach it costs 18 euros each!! I found the staff in the hotel to be quite friendly especially the bar staff however reception never had time for you and as stated on the sheet given on arrival reception are available for help however service maybe limited which is an understatement. The majority of the people in the hotel also seemed to need late check outs instead of the 10am one given and when we went to reception on the second day to ask they said it would be fine and would cost around 32euros so we thought that was worth it however the day before we come to go home we went back to book it and was told it had gone up to 110 euros so we asked to speak to the manager who said its my hotel i can charge whatever i like! Overall i am glad that this was not our first time abroad as i think we would never be going back and if you have booked a holiday to this hotel then i recommend you cancel if you still can.
ok for a cheap holiday
we arrived at gerona on time but even though we booked transfers for 9 people- the bus company only had room for 3 so luckily !!!! thompsons had a bus that was going in that direction so we were told but we landed out 2 hours on a bus!!! we arrived at hotel eventually at 5 am it should have been 1am and were given rooms with no air conditioning we asked if we could have a fan they charged 15 euros plus 10 euros deposit ....so we went to the supermarket next door and bought one for 11 euros...they even charge for a tv remote ....hefty price of 30 euros no deposit given back and thats just for a week. the swimming pools are filthy the food is ok....typically spanish but one word of warning if you want breakfast go early as it stands there for hours -keep away from the bacon!!! ugh. the rooms are very clean towels changed daily and the bed linen 2 weekly the staff are mostly from bangladesh they work really hard and try their best the hotel is spotless though they are cleaning constantly they say they have a free bus to town but turns up ad hoc the transfers on the way home were a hour late ...again fleetway organised this terrible could have missed flight!!! and if you try ringing emergency number goes on to an answerphone so pointless having a number this was ok for a cheap break but i wont return!!!!!
Stay at Home!
We arrived at 12.05am so no food or drink. Got to the room and there was no air conditioning - you have to hire a fan (which did nothing except make a noise) for 25 euros. The room was small, bathroom tiles and shower curtain covered in mold and there was no mimi-bar or fridge as promised - but you could hire a fridge for 35 euros a week! No remote control for the tv - you can hire one for 30 euros per week! Beds dirty and uncomfortable (sheets were not changed once during our stay) and none of us slept properly for the whole week. Pool (if you could get anywhere near it because it was so crowded - never got a sunbed once) was so dirty that you couldn't see the bottom even in the shallow end. Tried swimming and got mouthfuls of hair etc. (15 minute walk to the beach much better - clean sea and clean sand). Food ok and bar and waiting staff very nice. Hotel receptionist a bit of a cow. When someones room got robbed she didn't even symapthise and said its nothing to do with the hotel - go to the police! First half of the week, lots of very loud scousers with very unruly children, second half a bit better. If you like not sleeping, in an uncomfortable unclean bed, in a hot room with noise all day and night then this is the place for you. If like my family you like a clean comfortable hotel with clean pool that you are able to use then go somewhere else. Santa Susanna itself is quite a nice place and going into 'town' quite cheap and lots to see and do. Go to Spain but not this hotel.
Not as bad as depicted by previous reviews
Just returned from a short break and this hotel is nowhere near as bad as depicted in previous reviews. For what we paid, this 3 star hotel was more than adequate. The food was plentiful with lots of salads and fresh fruit available, as well as a selection of hot main courses and vegetables. Haute cuisine it ain't but you certainly won't starve. Music now stops at midnight and while there were lots of children around, they were well behaved and polite for the most part. Traffic noise from the nearby main road is occasionally intrusive during the night when a police car goes speeding by with siren blaring. The rooms are basic but clean and there is entertainment available for those who want it. There are lots of bars/pubs in nearby Santa Susanna and Malgrat if you fancy a change of scene. Go with an open mind and you will probably enjoy yourself.
Busmans Holiday
If you like spending your holiday in a Working Mens Club, then you'll feel right at home here !! Kareoke EVERY night, Screaming kids running amok, parents on the 'pop' from 10 am. It's the place Rab C. Nesbitt would go. Unless you're up really, really early you won't get near the pool. We never managed it in the week we were there. All drink is served in plastic glasses and you have to pay for them after midnight until the bar shuts at 1AM (if All Inclusive). Everyone we spoke to whilst there agreed that the beds were very uncomfortable and a good nights sleep was a rarety. Food was average, but it felt like you were eating in a school dining hall. The town of Santa Susanna is ok, but the beach, although looking clean and inviting, is so coarse it's nearly impossible to walk on. The sea shelf drops away from the beachline almost immediately and is not safe for young children. On the plus side, the hotel is clean and the staff are very friendly and will tend to your every need. If you want a quiet holiday - AVOID THIS PLACE LIKE THE PLAGUE !!! We won't be going back there ever again.
Super Santa Susana
The Aparthotel Santa Susana is an excellent base for a great holiday, whether you are travelling as a couple, family or group. Because it is part of the HTop group, it means you are free to use any of their other hotels facilities and they even provide a free bus service to take you to those hotelswhich are in other resorts. We went on an all inclusive package and, appart from leaving some well deserved tips, never had to put our hands in our pockets from the moment we arrived. We had days out to Llorett de Mar, Malgrat, Pineda and Calella as well as trying the Royal Sun and all our drinks, food etc. were covered by the HTop Hotels card we were given on our arrival. We never had to carry a packed lunch or drinks with us wherever we were. That's what we call flexibility and fantastic value for money! The Catalonian people are so friendly and the countryside much greener and prettier than southern Spain. Barcalona is beautiful and easy to get to using the cheap train which runs along the coast. There is something for everyone in Costa Brava.
great holiday
just got back fanily of 4.we had a really terrific time.food in restaurant is just abiut ok but you can get great snacks all day at the pool bar.all inclusive drinks are great everything you can think of plus lovely amstel lager.the entertainment team lead by raphael are really lovely ant work very hard.it is a bit loud and brash but everyone has a great time. i will certainly go again next year
The rain in spain was there when we were
Arrived at mid night only to be told by one guest, hope your only here for a week, a fortnight will be a nightmare. Well we enjoyed our stay all 6 of us (all adults). If your looking for an hol where you want to have a party this is the one, plenty of drink and food. rooms ok, pool ok but crowded. The week we were there the ground floor flooded, and have a guess where we were, yes the ground floor, but we all mucked in and had a laugh, cleaning up.There's only one problem, as we were leaving and guest's were coming in, one guest asked reception what floor would they need for a sea view, steve one of our party said "sea view you need an helicopter to have a sea view", as you guessed once again we were quite a way from the sea about 10 mins walk or train, which stops outside the hotel. Overall hols was good but it's what you make of it. p.s. drinks stop at 12.ooam sharp or torchy will be patrolling
Chav resort
Stayed here in Sept 05 and let me tell you if you like mixing with big loud roudy families who can't control their children then go! The pool area is very small and you have to get up early for the unchaining of sunbeds. The entertainment was rubbish, there is a mini disco for under 5's in the evening but any children over that age will be bored in the evening and some just seem to run amock. The buffet was ok, same food most nights, the only good thing i would say was that the ham and cheese toasties are very nice, they serve them around the pool bar during the day. The resort of Santa Susanna is a non event aswell, it is a very hotel based resort so not a lot to do in the evening apart from spend it in your hotel. We had enough by 5 days and got an earlier flight home.
Kids loved it
What's all the fuss about? We go on holiday to enjoy ourselves, and we had a great time at this hotel. The kids loved the pool, which is a decent size, and the staff were friendly and polite. The food was good, and hot, and the rooms were spacious and clean (we had a 5 bed family room). If I had to pick fault with anything it would be that this hotel was a fair walk from the beach and town, but this wasn't really a problem as we all enjoy exploring.. I suppose it may not be an ideal place for anyone without children as there were quite a few when we went, but this is probably not the case if you avoid school holiday times. Overall, a great holiday. The kids made loads of friends and had plenty to do, and we came home thoroughly refreshed
