Awful at night, we drew the short...
5 / 10
Jul 2007, Mr B Igman

Awful at night, we drew the short straw and were next door neighbours to 3 annoying 17 yr old girls who kept the whole corridor up until about 4am every morning. If you plan to get any sleep on this holiday then don’t go to this hotel, as the corridors are tiled and even a small childs footsteps sound like a herd of elephants running past. 1/5
The night entertainment was ok I suppose apart from the guy who sings karaoke, I’m surprised people back in England didn’t complain about the noise as the volume is way too loud as it made the windows vibrate like some boys escort with the sub turned up to the max. 3/5
The food was average, it is served as a buffet that you can help yourself to. Breakfast was nice apart from the bread which was stale every morning and the milk was always warm, lunch was ok, dinner was practically the same every night. you can tell it was cheap food, but I can complain as the holiday was so cheap. 2/5
The staff were friendly and helpful, most of them could speak clear English. They helped me to arrange daily activities and tried there hardest to keep the noise down when people complained. 4/5
All in all it was a really good holiday as it was cheap and there were a lot of things to do such as the beach, Barcelona, Porta Ventura and Barcelona Zoo. What I’m trying to say is that it might be worth spending an extra £50 and going to a better hotel.

Jul 2007, Miss V Stirk

I went on this holiday in a big group of 11! Every one of us enjoyed it! We returned on Wednesday 11th of July and want to go back already!
The bar staff are excellent and speak good English! Think they made our holiday as they are very friendly big hello to Abdul and hossain!
The pool is always clean and has entertainment during the day!
Food was good but the menu got a bit boring after a while! There is a very nice Chinese round the corner we went to 1 night which I would go again as it was very cheap and nice!
I would definitely go back as we are all looking for flights to return back!
Anyone going here is going to love it!

For a start don't believe any bad...

Jul 2007, Miss V Taylor

For a start don't believe any bad reviews about this hotel.
Me and my partner (I'm 18, he is 19) went to Santa Susanna on the 2nd of July and came back on the 9th and while we were there we had a wonderful time!
First impressions are that it is a bit out of the way in comparison to the rest of the resort, however there is a free train/bus service from the hotel to the main strip or it is only a 5minit walk, we walked this every night to go to the market place etc and didn't find it a problem.
The hotel is clean, there are maids cleaning for the majority of the day providing fresh towels every day. The bar staff and reception are polite and all speak good English.
The food is good. Salad available with meals, hot and cold foods, and choices of continental or English breakfasts. Maybe it was a little repetitive but there was various things added to spice it up. The only concern is that there isn’t a lot of vegetarian options.
The night time entertainment was the only let down of the holiday as most nights it is karaoke, but one night we watched a flamenco show which was very good. Plenty of entertainment in the day for both kids and adults such as water volleyball, darts, aerobics, and pool discos for the kids.
The pool is clean and the pool bar serves hot snacks and drinks.
We took day trips to Waterworld, Barcelona, and Marineland and all of these were fantastic... I would strongly recomend Marineland for its dolphin, sealion, and tropical bird shows and for us this was the highlight of the holiday.
Overall we had a fantastic first holiday together and would like to tell you all not to worry if you have booked this hotel. It’s great for a cheap holiday and we would probably return!
Have a happy holiday xx

We wasn't off to a good start on this...

Jul 2007, Mrs K Dennis

We wasn't off to a good start on this holiday we lost our case at the airport, was given the paperwork to give to the hotel to try and get our case back, but typical of the hotel they lost the paperwork, so therefore we couldn't get our case back, they didn't seem to care.
The rooms at the hotel couldn't be faulted; they were very large and clean no problems there.
The food was the same day in day out, what you had for breakfast you had for snacks and lunch, pretty boring, not much choice especially for kids.
The only pool they have is on the roof not good for kids, and it was the size of a paddling pool. On the roof you could get drinks but no sign of snacks there as we were led to believe.
The entertainment (what entertainment ha ha ha).
The Royal Beach hotel in Lloret de Mar is lovely, big pool lovely food, go there for the day if you get a chance.
Would never go back to this hotel again.

Don’t choose 2 Can Travel. I went...

Jul 2007, Miss M J

Don’t choose 2 Can Travel.
I went with 3 of my friends, we are 18 and 19. This holiday was great the accommodation was good and the staff were lovely.
The food is not too bad but was a bit plain. But it’s what you pay for.
The only problem we had was with our tour operator as they didn’t send our transfer to pick us up from the airport.
This was our first holiday on our own so as you can imagine we didn’t know what to do. But luckily a lady took us the 2 hour journey otherwise it would of cost us 200 Euros. So just be careful!

Recently returned from a week’s...

Jul 2007, Miss HJ Scott

Recently returned from a week’s holiday at the Santa Resort Hotel, this was to be a cheap and cheerful break - what can I say - we had a fabulous time.
A holiday is what you make it, you have a bed to sleep in, very accommodating staff, good weather, you’re not at work, free food and drink.
Yes the food is basic but you can definitely find something to eat. If you want the Ritz then spend more money and go find a more expensive hotel.
We had a fantastic time and would go back again. We feel that we had a bargain we certainly did not come back hungry.

Very poor holiday, basic boring food...
1 / 10
Jun 2007, Mr Robert Dalton

Very poor holiday, basic boring food although taste, the hotel was fully of abusive drunks that only wanted to get drunk and be abusive to others.
Had items stolen from our room, when reported the reception was not interested. The security was very lapse and the reception gave out additional keys to anyone who asked for one.
Bar staff very good and friendly, entertainment team friendly yet again no security, we put our son in the kids club only to find him wondering around the reception area because the staff had allowed him to go for a drink on his own, he is only 6 yrs old.
This is advertised as a family hotel but is far from it. Music plays very loudly until 12 midnight and you can hear it in all the rooms of the hotel, people finally come back to their rooms between 2 and 3 in the morning but the rooms are so close together you can't avoid the noise which is very loud.
I would rate my stay at 1 out of 10 and would not recommend to anyone. It may be cheap but you will know why if you ever go.
I advise to pay a little more and give this one a wide berth.

Jun 2007, Mrs J Green

Good cheap clean basic hotel. 7 days full sun when we went.
Food very basic and repetitive but ok for the not fussy eater.
Rooms cramped with 1 double and 2 single in one room, fine if it’s sunny.
Entertainment for teenagers and adults very limited. Staff polite and helpful.
Would go again for cheap good value break.

I returned back from this resort a...

Jun 2007, Ms Z T

I returned back from this resort a couple of weeks ago. I booked the holiday in Feb, as a cheap and cheerful break away, and that’s exactly what we got!
The rooms were clean and functional, the maids came in everyday with clean towels and to mop the floors, and the communal areas were always very clean.
Food wise, it was a bit limited, but there was always plenty and it was well cooked. Didn't get food poisoning, so that’s always a good sign, and it was nice to get drinks on tap through the day.
In Santa Susanna there are plenty of places to eat, so if the menu gets a bit boring, try venturing out of the resort, which is what we did. If you do go out in the town (which is about a 5 min walk) I would recommend you go to Club Tropicana - where the drinks are not free, but very reasonably priced! Very Spanish club, but we had a laugh in there!
The resort is very family orientated, but the entertainment during the day for kids did seem a bit limited, but in response to some of the other residents who moaned that there was not enough for the kids to do, I would say ''don’t take the kids on holiday with you if you don’t want to spend time with them!!". I would return to this resort again and take my Son next time, as I think it did cater well for children.
The pool area was always very crowded, but again I would say venture out, as we found a nice beach at Malgrat, which wasn't swarming with people.
You can also take the train to Barcelona very cheaply (6 Euros return) and it only takes about an hour, so that’s worth a visit too.
Overall, I would say you get what you pay for, and if you want a nice cheap holiday, you'll definitely get your money’s worth. I had read the reviews after I booked it, and I was imagining the worst, but was pleasantly surprised.
And I would say a ''big up'' to Donna and Toni who we met out there, and we had a right laugh!

Jun 2007, Mr S Groom

Hey as they say, you get what you pay for!
We went with a party of nine (6 adult’s and 3 kids in 3 seperate rooms). We stayed for 2 weeks.
Did find that the entertainment did repeat itself after the second week, but if you didn't want to watch it again you just jumped on the free bus to the beach/shopping area and went for a walk.
Staff extremely friendly and polite 24/7.

Food was ok, again you are in a foreign country so don't expect to eat English all the time.
The hotel is clean and fresh towel and your room cleaned everyday!
Me my wife and two kids really enjoyed it. Would definitely go back.

The meals in this hotel were not very...
3 / 10
Jun 2007, jackie61

The meals in this hotel were not very good and not enough choice. When the food run out. The chef just stood there cleaning the counter even though there was ten to fifteen people waiting.
I wanted a bottle of water but I had to pay for it even though I was all inclusive, if you go to the sister hotel it was free.
The maids always left patio door open even though I complained four times and to the manager, the thing was we were on the first floor and anyone could have got in.
The entertainment was nonexistent and if any was on the way it was situated you could not see it was better in the Royal Sun and the meals were better there to.
Have a day in Calella on the free bus and go in the Amaika hotel, it is done out like the titanic and I wish we had of been staying in that hotel.
Also one day the lift was broke and we had to walk down all the stairs not very good when you are on crutches like I was.
The pool is on the sixth floor which you then have about ten steps to walk up. Next time it will be the Royal Sun, I am not a fussy eater will try anything, a lot of people had upset stomachs while we were there my husband being one of them. Please avoid.

We went on this holiday the middle of...

Jun 2007, Mr A Bishop

We went on this holiday the middle of the May half-term holiday. We booked through Fleetway Travel (not going to, again!). Were charged for 4 adults and 3 children (though ages of children were 6,9,11, 12, and 16 - not all ours!)
Hotel was lovely, kids enjoyed being able to obtain drinks and food whenever they felt like it, without expecting us to put our hands in our pockets. Place was clean, friendly, lively!
The only downside was that we were not in the main part of the resort, so a short bus or mini train ride away (not regular). You get what you pay for, and we paid just under £1300 for 7 of us!
We stayed at the Riviera Hotel on the seafront in October and enjoyed walking along the promenade in the evening to see the stalls! Missed that, this time.
Warning to people wanting to get from Santa Susanna to Barcelona airport - don't get overcharged for taxi, use the train, it's 3 Euros per person rather than 120 Euros by taxi.
