Fishermans Point Hotel

Rooms vary widely. Mine was lousy (#68). Management was non-responsive. Negatives (room) --Had too sleep in living room the entire stay because bedroom was adjacent to a noisy bar across street. --Hot water tank must have held 2 gallons. --Toilet ran the whole time. --Furniture was crap. --I've camped with better cooking facilities --Turtle Beach was pretty lame compared to many places I've been. --without wanting to be ugly American, spoke nicely with mgt twice...they did nothing. My girlfiend and her family just returned from Fisherman's Point in Jamaica yesterday. (Jan. 15, 2005) The hotel is okay, but, the beach and swimming area are limited. You can get on the beach free with your room key, and get a free chair to sit in, but the problem is Fisherman's part of the beach only has about 10 chairs, so go early unless you want to sit on the sand. We stayed 1 week from 27/12/2004 till 02/01/2005. There are many reviews about this resort which in my opinion are all correct. It is true that every appartments are very different thus it like a draw. When we arrived we were given appartment 51, not good, specially its location on the road which leads to the cruise liner terminal and also on a bar playing very lound music from 10am till 8pm. I just returned home after spending Christmas in Jamaica at Fisherman's Point Resorts in Ocho Rios. I can't believe that 9 days and 8 nights passed by so quickly. I have to admit that it was a pleasant stay. Even though I travelled alone, I was made to feel right at home. The staff at Fisherman's Point were absolutely wonderful. I just got back from here and must say that while it’s not the New York Plaza it was a great experience. The accommodations were excellent and gave me the flexibility of preparing my own meals or just hang out at the restaurant. The staff members were very accommodating and made an extra effort to see that we (wife and three kids) enjoyed ourselves. The room was spotless and the view was spectacular. We did the touristy stuff like go climb the Dunn Falls and river rafting which only added more to our trip. I can see why so many people love... more

It was awesome. The girl at the front desk was just great in helping us arrange daytime activities as well as enjoy the night life. She got us started with renting a car and providing a local map for us to “rough it” around town. The service was way beyond what we expected as reservations were made for all the activities we wanted to do as well as taxi service. The guys by the pool were great too. Well our experience was not that great there. Lets put it this way we wouldn't stay there again. Our greatest problem was cleanliness the apartment needed serious dusting. We had come to stay there after staying in Negril and we were very disappointed. Negril was the best , beach wise and hotel wise as well. Apartment # 9 needs to be upkept properly. We only stayed for a day and that was too much.

Well where do I begin. I too had been reading all the reviews posted from Aug 03. Some very negative and others positive, so I went with an open mind bearing in mind that I knew that the apartments were individually owned so it would be the luck of the draw. 14 of us arrived at Fishermans Point very tired after a long journey from Beaches Negril. I stayed in unit # 6 and it was awesome. Living room had two separate twin beds against opposite ends of the walls (which was perfect since there were two friends sharing the living room space), the kitchen was well equipped, and the bedroom has a walk in closet. Staff was nice, they now provide internet access in the commisary and there is free room service (provided by Coconuts Intl. Restaurant). We stayed at fishermans point july 9-12, my only regreat is I wish we had more time. The grounds were beautiful and well kept. We had an ocean front view, you could sit on the patio and look over the ocean and the beach. The room was clean, comfortable, spacious and roomy. Our bedroom had a bay window with a sitting area you could look up into the mountains. The staff was friendly and very helpful.
