Beachcomber Club Hotel

We booked our hotel at the Beachcomber and it promised to have a "full" kitchen. We thought this would be a good idea in order to save some money on food by eating in for some meals. When we arrived neither the stove or the microwave worked and both were ancient with no plugs available. The fridge and washer/dryer had both been replaced. We talked to the front desk the first 2 days and they said they would have somebody check it out, but nobody ever did. The Beachcomber was a colossal disappointment. On their own website beachcomberclub they advertise it as the “Jewel of Negril”, a "beautiful hotel", with "oversized, luxurious rooms". In the Negril travel guide, they have an advertisement claiming to be an "upscale resort". Unfortunately, in our experience, it was none of the above. They should rename it the Beachbum. Took forever and a day for our room to be ready (around 5pm) Once the bar closed we had no access to ice. The glasses in the room were chipped (-) near cut my lip drinking some water. We had to have housekeeping come out twice to change the sheets because they had blood on them. The bathtub had mold growing around it. Had to get up at the crack of dawn to secure beach chairs and towels. the antenna on the TV was broken so we were only able to get 3 channels but there was no remote to even to that.... more

The Beachcomber was great!!!! Its location is so convenient. It is literallyh next door to margueritaville, down the street from both Club Jungle and Alfred's. I went out there with six of my classmates and we had a blast. The rooms are HUGE!!!! They had more than enough space. The suite apartments also come with a fully equipped kitchen and a washer and dryer. The staff was very nice and caring and helped us negotiate prices on the water sports. I just came back from a four night stay at the Beachcomber Club. We are three middle aged women who escaped our spouses and kids for a glorious time in Negril. We chose a 1 bdrm apartment with an ocean view. We had an enormous bedroom with a king size bed and a twin bed (not a cot!), a huge bathroom, with an additional powder room, full kitchen (w/ washer & dryer), dining room, living room with double French doors opening out to a fabulous veranda and our view of the Caribbean Sea. Stayed "Spring Break" (you could call it spring break, however, my gf and I were the youngest people staying at the hotel until we convinced friend's staying at other hotels to switch over)... Staff was incredible, especially Smoky... Dont bring children, they will annoy everyone. Its quiet, security keeps rastas from trying to sell you drugs all day on the beach.. The Beachcomber is a solid bargain on a very nice stretch of beach. I would return there in a heartbeat. The pool is alittle on the small side, so if you are the type of person who likes to lounge poolside, you may be disappointed. However, literally less than 30-40 yards away is the unobstructed beach.

Nice place. Friendly Staff. Accomadating. Nice beach. Next door to Margaritaville!! Had a great time. Looking forward to going back in March '04!!

We've stayed here three times in 4 years and already planning our next two trips so that we can bring friends/family with us. We always stay in the two bedroom units with kitchen. We like to go out for dinner usually, but it's great to have the kitchen and be able to make snacks and keep the Red Stripes cold. Great atmosphere for our young daughter, she can play in the sand, go in the pool, and walk right into the water because the property is directly on 7 mile beach. My friends and I stayed here for Sring Break '03 March 16-23. The Beachcomber is the ****, friendly waitstaff, good food, great *****, even better taxi drivers. Right next door to Margarittaville in the middle of the 7 mile beach. I would suggest you get one of the suits or the 2 bedroom rooms. ATTENTION COLLEGE LADIES: SPRING BREAK '04 from 3-17-04 to 3-24-04 is when the party will be at the beachcomber club don't miss out.*If traveling there ask for my man Wayne, he'll take care of you.
