This hotel is a superb base for visiting London. Its value for money, good staff, clean and spacious rooms near central location. I would thoroughly recommend staying here. The theatre breaks are a great idea and include your theatre tickets and hotel accommodation. It was... more

At the Travel Inn the staff were very friendly and helpful throughout our stay and could not do enough to help us. It was very central and close to all visitor attractions. When we arrived by tube it was only a 2 minute walk from the tube station, which was great... more

Great Value (for London)
My husband I stayed here in July 2003 and the rooms were fine. Nice sized bathroom, clean, no problems. It was so convenient to so many attractions. Since we knew we couldn't get the same accommodations for the money in London that we could in the States, this was very nice. I would highly recommend it!
great location
Stayed at the Travel Inn County Hall 29th & 30th December 2004. The location is excellent, just two minutes away from the London Eye, Aquarium, Westminster Bridge. Rooms modern and clean, but fairly average. Biggest problem we encountered was the plastic mattress cover under the sheets, very hot, sticky and unhygienic, needless to say we complained, as the bed felt contantly damp. Restaurant food fairly good, especially breakfast, which is a buffet, but service is very slow, we waited 20 mins for dinner first night and it was only half full. We had requested a room not overlooking the courtyard, on the advice of a previous reviewer on Trip Advisor, but unfortunatly our room was still fairly close to the courtyard where unloading and deliveries start around 5.30 am.Suggest a room higher up Belvedere Road, which was closed to traffic. This place seems very popular with families and is good value for money in central London.
DONT GO FOR ROOM 323
We were going to London for a pre christmas treat (theatre and hotel accomodation) We paid £86.95 for a room at the Travel Inn County Hall (not to be confused with the Marriott County Hall around the corner which is in the same building) County Hall was for many years the home of London's government, in the form of the London County Council and latterly the Greater London Council (GLC) and Inner London Education Authority (ILEA). The imosing building, designed by Ralph Knott, was started in 1911 but the intervention of two world wars prevented its completion until 1958. During construction a 3rd century Roman ship was discovered. It is appropriate that the new Greater London Authority will also be based in SE1 near Tower Bridge. Now owned by a Japanese company, County Hall has been transformed into a leisure complex. The main riverside building contains the London Aquarium, Dali Universe, Saatchi Gallery and Namco Station tourist attractions, as well as Travel Inn and London Marriott hotels. Dining opportunities include the Four Regions Chinese Restaurant, Fish!, Shino's and McDonald's. County Hall Lettings Company handles the residential accommodation in the complex. The Club at County Hall is an exclusive health and leisure club. Getting back to the travel Inn... Check-in was slow; took 15 minutes. They had my criedt card on file, I paid by part vouchers and part cash - they still asked for my credit card which extended the check-in process. The receptionist was friendly however, took time to tell what facalities they had. The room: big - one double bed and a sofa bed. No twin bedded rooms were available, so I booked a double plus sofa bed. The television did not work throughout the stay. we were told that all televisions would not be working due to upgrading to Sky Digital. We were also told that the tv woul dbe back "on" at 4pm. When we got back from the theatre at 11pm - no television! Various times I contacted the reception desk to speak to the duty mangaer, on all times I was told he was "busy to speak to me". Too make things worse, we were woken up at 7am due to the curtains not fitting the window properly and letting sun light into the room. Breakfast was very good - help yourself and we did. Good coffee, good juice bar and good cooked breakfast!
Surprisingly good!
I stayed for two nights in Travel Inn and I loved it! Big and very clean rooms, comfortable bathroom and a very friendly stuff! Very close to the tude and the area is beutiful! I would definetely stay there again!
Great location!
Very nice hotel in a great location! Easy walking distance to Parliament, Westminster Abbey, the Underground and the London Eye. The review would be a 5 if there were more restaurants in the area, but a very good Italian restaurant is only steps away. The Inn was very roomy, clean, and the staff was extremely nice and helpful! A superb value!
Great location and great price for London Uk
We arrived at the London County Hall Travel Inn County Hall after being in Zurich, Switzerland having spent the last five days at the Marriott International...so we did expect a different type of hotel...the outside banner is hidden by a tree when you come from Waterloo , so is easy to miss the one small door going into the main lobby which really needs to be bigger....this place is busy, busy , busy. You could walk by the door and miss it all together. If you are coming here from Heathrow on the tube to Waterloo ...be sure when you arrive at Waterloo that you go upstairs to the main lobby of the Train station and go to Gate 6 and walk over the York Road and down by the Shell building....we made the mistake of coming out onto Waterloo Road and had to walk around the Imax and got very confused after a long day coming from Switzerland.. ....the Travel Inn did not have any stairs working or open for the public to use unless you had one of the staff open it for you....we were there during the school break and the place was very busy....had to wait a long time for the lift and one of the three was not working...but then you have to wait in lines for everything in London. If anyone from Canada or US wants to redeem air miles at this location...want you to know that it can be done but be sure to confirm your payment before you leave home....we had some major problems with the desk staff over how this all works....if using points be sure to speak to someone in accounting....I spoke to Clair or Sandy...they were very helpfull....don't waste your time talking to anyone else except someone from the accounting department. The fact that you can have dinner here after a long day in the city is helpful and the resturant is smoke free...which we truly appreciated. The buffet breakfast is very, very good and does for two meals.. The young man from Austriala is very friendly at the resturant. We were pleased with this hotel and would come again and stay here...the price is good and most of the staff were fine...they are very busy here and the front staff works very hard... We did not use the tube except to come from Hearthrow...but instead used the red bus....if you are going to do this study the bus lines.....I thought they would be hard but worked out very well.... Again I would agree with the other reviews that the location is the best...we just walked around the corner of Belverdere Street and there was the London Eye...by the way our ride on the Eye on Sunday afternoon was one of the highlights of our trip. Try this place ...you will like it for sure.
COMPLETELY AGREE WITH THE POSITIVE REVIEWS!
Like others, I booked this hotel based on the reviews and was not in the least bit disappointed. How can you be with the price and location?! I have travelled to London several times but the Travel Inn is the most agreeable place I have ever stayed. It was clean, comfortable and trouble free. What more do you need when you spend your days and nights exploring glorious London? And to continue the repetition of others (but I cannot stress it enough) the location is unbeatable!! with the Thames and Westminster bridge around the corner, two underground stations within a couple of minutes walk, Waterloo station for Eurostar. And across the street a convenience store for a bottle of wine or the middle of the night snack, and yes even a Starbucks! We had no problems at all. As always we are looking forward to when we can return to London (never soon enough) and now we would think of staying no where else!
Impressed
Location, location, location, what else can I say? Within the first couple of hours of our arrival in London, my husband and I walked to the London Eye, Big Ben/Parliament, Westminster Abbey, St James Park, Buckingham Palace, and on our last day, we walked back to the hotel after going to Trafalgar Sq, the National Gallery and the Somerset House. Well, we do like to walk, but the Waterloo stop gets you to anywhere in Central London in no time. The Underground is efficient and great. There was even a bus stop right by the hotel and we took a bus that stopped at the Tower of London. Talk about convenient. Best part, we went to Paris on the Eurostar after London, and the international terminal for the Eurostar train was at the Waterloo station, barely a stone's throw from the hotel! ALso, being on the bank of the Thames is pretty romantic, too. I highly recommend this place. Our room was large, clean and comfortable. Forget "authentic" B&Bs and risking strange experiences that might mar your trip to this really great city. Go for the tried and true. We'll definitely go back!
We'll be back!
We arrived hours ahead of our check-in time after a long and tiring flight from Singapore. The staff arranged for our room to be cleaned so that we could get in early. The room itself was spacious, clean and very comfortable. The location is so convenient and pretty - you can't go past this place for value and great friendly and helpful staff.
The reviews posted here is what made me book the County Hall for 10 days
.....and the reviews were very accurate. I've never been to London, but have heard all the horror stories about accomodation - Im so glad we elected to go with this place. At the risk of repeating all the earlier reviews - the best thing about this place LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION, The London Eye would take 30 seconds to walk to from the Hotel Lobby, Big Ben about 2 mins walk, West End in around 10 mins - we were wrapped ! Staff were friendly, room was great size, breakfast could not be faulted (Under 7 pounds), rooms were clean, facilities were more than one would expect in London - we liked this place so much we cancelled other accomodation we had booked for a few days after we got to the County Hall - there is the equivalent of a 7/11 across the road open 24 hours, Internet Cafe, Sushi Bar, couple of great restuarants, Starbucks, etc, etc. HIGHLY recommend this place, Im sure you will not regret it, enjoy London - oh, and the VERY best place to buy tickets for all the shows playing in the West End is a place called TKTS, its located nearby to a small park, near the cinemas and near the dozens of dodgy ticket places they have - our seats were always 2nd or 3rd row, absolutely cant wait to get back there early next year Seeya :-)
