We had a lovely time in Filzmoos for our second year skiing here.
It may not be the highest, or the most extensive of resorts, but surely you cannot get much better than this charming little village.
THE SKIING-
A good variety of runs, aimed mostly at intermediate level. The tree lined pistes are heaven for those looking to improve their parallel turns!
The resort is perfect for beginners, who will benefit from the assortment of gentle nursery slopes at both ends of the village.
The slopes are well groomed and, as proven by lack of snowfall for our early January stay, very well supported by snow making equipment.
The lifts are all fairly gentle and their operators helpful and polite.
Wherever you are on the slopes around filzmoos, you are never far from a mountain hut, selling hot chocolates.
THE HOTEL-
The Hammerhof is a real Austrian hotel, run by a family of three generations! They, and their staff are extremely welcoming and helpful.
The food in the restaurant is extremely good, a real treat after a day on the slopes.
Perhaps the only criticism is the distance to the village. To walk in with ski boots takes 15mins each morning, however the hotel is the second stop on the regular, reliable ski bus service which will have you at the gondola in a matter of minutes.
The hotels location however is not all bad news. Being away from the village means it is very quiet at night, and for families this is a great advantage.
To stay here is very good value for money, especially when compared with the "slightly" more luxurious hotels in town, and the one cheaper hotel which is very isolated from the town.
THANK YOU FILZMOOS FOR A LOVELY STAY!
