We have just returned from the Ilios hotel. On arrival it looks very good, but that's where it ends. The majority of the staff are pretty rude with the exception of a couple. The room was clean on first impressions, but was dirty really. The floor had not been cleaned from... more

good budget holiday
We stayed at the ilios for a week and i would have liked it to be 2 weeks really. We got a bargain deal staying half board. I would go back to the ilios but would go self catering, the food was ok but im just not keen on the buffets and i prefer eating out. There are apartments with a kitchen area at ilios or rooms in the main hotel. It is a decent sized complex with 2 pools, each with a pool bar. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The complex overall is starting to look a bit tired but we were there in the very last week of the season and it looked like they were already starting to improve bits ready for next year. The room was fine, not luxury but by no means horrible. We had a decent amount of storage space for 4 of us and the apartment itself was quite spacious. We really enjoyed our week and would definately go back in the future. Our daughter (5) had a brilliant week, it is very good for children. The complex is a short walk away from all the shops, bars and resturaunts. We walked down there everynight to try different resturants and bars. We went in september and the one thing i will say is at this time of year there were loads of mosquitos, we all got bitten loads even though we covered ourselves in repellent. Overall a good holiday especially suitable for famillies i would say and im sure we will go back there sometime! If you have kids and are looking for a decent budget holiday i would recommend it.
dissapointed with this hotel
I havejust returned from a fortnight at the Ilios Hotel in Tigaki, KOS.After reading how delightful the place was,and how people return year after year,i was expecting a bit more. It is rated at a three star, but myself would put it as a two. The first thing that spoilt it for us was been given a room without a bath, when there were plenty of rooms with a bath there. Our two year old daughter didnt appreciate 'shower time'.She slipped on a few occasions and come home with a few bruises!! We asked for a bath, but were told one wouldnt be available intill the second week.We just put up with it by then. All the rooms had squeaky doors that slammed shut all through the night which made having a good night sleep impossible. The rooms are all in need of a good lick of paint and some maintanence.I dont meen to be petty, but I have stayed in three star hotel's before, and all have been in better condition than this one. The food was another issue.Dont go half board like we did Infact dont go ATALL!! To be fair, the evening meals were rather nice, with quite alot of choice.Lots of salads and vegetables.rice, potatoes and meats. But the desserts were quite simply - chocolate mousse or jelly every night!! The brekkie's, oh my god! Terrible! The times were 7.30am-9.30am.We used to get there on average 9am.By then all the food was gone, and the waitresses were taking all the bread rolls(all 3 that were left) back in.And no more food came out. They wouldnt even bring more milk out for coffe, claiming "it's all gone" with a giggle! Yes very funny! Our final day,no joke,we had a peice of ham and a spoonfull of beans each at 9am!! The worst over I reckon! The pool area wasn't too bad,we sat by the german's.A lot quieter, and the baby's pool was there.Plenty of bed's.Propably everyone escaped to the beach! The main pool area had very loud music playing all day.Which is fine, but there were a lot of middle aged people there.I dont think they appreciated it! One thing i liked were the slovakian's that worked there intill Oct 2nd.Very polite and friendly. Overall we did make the most of our holiday.we hired a car and saw most of the island of Kos,which is very small. But some lovely views.Tingaki itself was ok,not much there, but its quiet with a nice beach. But I would not reccommend Ilios hotel to anyone!

Just got back from the Ilios Hotel Tingaki. We stayed self catering and the hotel caters for Germans and English. Seemed to be split between all inclusive and self catering which seemed to divide the hotel into two parts. Apartment was ok but needs a little updating and repair e.g., door broken on wardrobe and we had to wait three days for our request of an extra two pillows. James our rep started on the hard sell for the trips as soon as we had got on the coach after a four hour flight just what we needed. Didn't eat in the hotel but at restaurants on the main street plenty to choose from. About a 15 minute walk to the beach which wasn't far at all. Lovely soft sandy beach and clear blue sea. Went on the trip to Zia well worth it but book through the independent tour operators and not the rep. much cheaper. Also went to Kos town on the local bus which was well worth the visit. The Fish House restaurant in Kos town, justt near the harbour is excellent and very Greek. Didn't book any toehr trips as we were only there for one week. The apartments were in blocks of three on the first floor with a balcony. If you get an apartment in the middle your balcony will be at the front which is a little off putting as other occupants have to walk past you, not very private and at night you can hear every word if you are trying to sleep and your neigbour is sat outside. Would definately go back but would stay somewhere different.
Good Value for Money at Ilios
Just back from a week staying at the Ilios Aparthotel in Tingaki, Kos. Went self catering and to be honest we werent planning on cooking anything other than breakfast in the apartment so the lack of cooking space/ utensils wasnt an issue. We had a 1 bedroom apartment which was adequete and had a balcony overlooking the pool which was nice. Cleaners came in everyday, however we didnt have a towel change which we werent sure if we should have! We found the staff very helpful and friendly. The pools within the complex were fantastic and plenty of beds for sun worshippers so no need to get up incredibly early to put towels out! My only issue was the lack of entertainment within the complex, which for a week wasnt too bad as we ate out in Tingaki every night. The bar stays open until the last man leaves too! I would recommend this place for both couples of any age and also for families and large groups too! I would certainly consider going back there.
Ilios Apartments Tingaki Kos
The Ilios Apartments are in need of a makeover, the rooms are old tired and dull. The self catering facilities are awful, I don't know how they expected people to cater for themselves with the shoddy utensils that were provided. The fridge was a mini fridge, there was no chopping board, no bottle opener, no condiment sets no egg cups, the rubbish bin was tiny and hardly held anything. There is no comfortable chairs to sit on all we had were a couple of dining room chairs, the breakfast bar which was the only surface provided to eat at had the mini fridge underneath it so you could not sit around it to eat your meals. There were handles missing off some of the drawers leaving screws sticking out which was dangerous. The shower was a tiny shower tray with a curtain around it, the bathroom floor would end up flooded which I thought to be very dangerous. The air conditioning had to be purchased seperately and I thought 100 euros for 2 weeks was a bit expensive but you do need it. The reception staff were not very helpful, we had booked a trip and needed to be at Kos Harbour at 9.30am, the rep was supposed to have ordered us a taxi for 8.45am needless to say it never turned up and when we asked the hotel staff to order us another one they refused, finally at about 9.20am they finally ordered us one which was very prompt and thankfully got us to the Harbour just in time. When arriving at our apartments after a night out we found out that someone had been in the apartment, the cleaners had already been in that morning and had left the room, when I went to reception to enquire who had been in my room and why they had been in my room they blamed the cleaners but could not give an explanation as to why they needed to go back in the room, I think it was to check to see if you had left anything electrical on. A couple we spoke to had said that someone had also been in their room. We had trouble with one of the beds in our room and spoke to James the holiday rep who was absolutely useless and did nothing to sort the problem out. If you were voted best rep on the island James as you boasted you were I would have hated to seen the worst. There was supposed to be entertainment at the complex but we didn't see any in the 2 weeks we were there, we stayed for the Friday bbq expecting this great evening, but apart from the food which was average, nothing special, nothing else happened. The pools were a good size and there was plenty of sunbeds and plenty of trees to shade under when it got too hot. The food from the snack bar was quite nice but you waited a long time for it to arrive. The resort of Tingaki is beautiful lovely beaches, bars and restaurants. Would return to Kos just not to the Ilios apartments.
absolutely magic
Just got back from 7 nights in the Ilios hotel, and loved every minute of it the rooms are fab and really spacious and very clean, the food is excellent. the pools are great and their are loads of loungers with no early towel layers. prices at the bar and supermarket are also very cheap. Ideal holiday for families or couples looking for a relaxing time. will be returning again very soon.

Excellent holiday
Been back 4 weeks but still think fondly of this holiday. The Ilios hotel is one of the best places we have ever stayed at. All the staff were friendly and happy, rooms were very clean and well maintained. 15 mins walk from beach but not a problem, excellent beach and very near to Kos town, a quaint lovely place with plenty of shops and restaurants, good links to other resorts by bus for those of us who dont want to drive whilst on holiday. Top rate will definately go back
