This was my first ski holiday as an adult and I took my 13 year old son,Ross. First of all we turned up very late, 2200hrs and the owner Reggie stayed on with the staff to give us a three course hot meal and a very friendly greeting. This excellent first impression lasted all week and this is a truly family friendly hotel. The food was plentiful and of good quality and was a true home from home as it was a cosy, clean and homely environment. There is an excellent and modern steam/sauna area, plenty of ski and boot storage and the place was constantly warm despite -13 temperatures outside. The location could not have been better being metres away from the nearest drag lift and was a godsend when walking in ski boots.I saw most of the other hotels locations and this has to be the best, also being near a Spar shop. I have not been one to return to a hotel a second time but I will make an exception this time. I intend to come back and stay here and recommend it to anyone.

we stayed at the hotel Hannes last week, after reading the reviews we were abit unsure. on arrival we were pleasantly met by the owners , who made us feel very welcome indeed. the rooms are a good size and are serviced daily. the food is of agood standard with NO tin fruit on as someone else stated!! all food is fresh and very tasty. this hotel is very near to the slopes and lifts . we will definately use this hotel again when we visit Austria again. mr & mrs unwin

We stayed at the Hotel Hannes in March (2008 ) and I have to admit that I was a little apprehensive as I had read mixed reviews. We were pleasantly surprised with the Hotel and the location, which is a 5 min walk to the Gondola and the nursey slopes. The hotel was clean, warm, and the food was nice. Although we had booked half board we only ate Dinner at the Hotel once as we like to try different restaurants ( I can highly recommend the Hotel Austria or the Pizza place next to the Spa for a evening meal ). If you are a Breakfast person I would suggest getting up early as we found that at 9am there was not alot left, but again the food was nice. All in all we had a great hol and found the Hotel Hannes to be of good value for money.

We Stopped at the Hannes Hotel on a half board basis. We highly recommend that if you
visit Austria that you stay at this hotel. The meals were excellent and the rooms were very comfortable and clean. You were made to feel at home. The owners were fantastic.
Making you feel welcome at all times. I could not fault their hospitality and the staff were also extremely helpful. So don't look no further this is definately the hotel to stay.
I certainaly will be revisiting Austria as the skiing facilities are excellent and only 2 minutes away from the Hotel. And when we go back to the resort we will stay here for sure.

We stayed at Hotel Hannes as it seemed (from the internet site and First Choice blurb) to be a nice family run hotel with good food and good location. Couldn't be more wrong!
Firstly I would say this definitely isn't 3 star. More like 2, at a shove. The rooms were ok, but very basic. Our window wouldn't close properly, which is a problem when it's snowing outside! I asked the woman who owns the hotel for an extra duvet and explained out problem, she was incredibly rude and unhelpful. The pillows and duvets actually had blood and dirty stains all over them. The bathroom was basic, tiny scratchy towels which weren't changed all week. The maids seemed to come each day but I'm not sure what they did. We had no nice extras, not even a hairdryer or soap.
Our main problem was the appaling food and the very very rude woman serving the food. Her manner was extremely rude, unhelpful and mean. The selection of food was bad, very fried or stewed. Dessert was ridiculous- tinned fruit or cream (cream with everything). It seemed like they were trying to save money any which way they could by offering poor quality meat, broth soup and cheap desserts. You even had to pay if you wanted a glass of water with dinner, let alone anything else. We would go down for breakfast around 8.50am (it finished at 9.30am) and there wouldnt be much juice, bread or fruit left.
I wouldn't stay here again and wouldn't recommend it. Mean, unfriendly, stingy, no nice lounge area to sit, one tiny radiator in whole hotel for everyone to hang all their wet ski clothes.

We arrived at Hotel Hannes in January. The hotel looks pleasant from the outside.
Inside the rooms are very basic, they lack any finishing touches. No Kettle, coffee/tea in rooms or hairdryer. The interior in the rooms are very dated and the bedding could be binned and replaced. Some of the sheets had stains on them. Not overly nice.
It seemed everything was done on a tight budget. I agree with previous comments about the food. Breakfast was fine and you have a buffet style of choice. Dinner was of low standard and would not recommend half board. Only 2 choices (not sure what you would do if vegetarian), bland, tinned fruit and ice cream for dessert most nights. Disappointing.
Some staff members were very approachable but not others. I wouldn't exactly say they went out of their way to make you feel welcome.
I think this is a mid range 2 star hotel. Mainly due to the fact that is has a sauna and steam room.

I and a friend went to this hotel for one week and it was a really friendly hotel, the owner was really polite and helpful too.
We had a half board holiday and the food was really nice (breakfast from 8-9.30 and dinner at half 6 on the dot).
There is a baby slope directly in front of the hotel for beginners which I found useful.
You can walk 2 mins down the road to the main lift and slopes or there is even a bus at the end of the road, which goes to other resorts and slopes which is for free.
The night life is pretty good that’s only 2 min walk to.
The hotel has a steam and sauna which is good after a hard day on the slopes.
Overall it was a really good hotel and if I go back to the resort, I would stay here for sure.

We booked last minute and we were offered other hotels in the area, but decided to go for this one.
On arrival we were herded into dinner and were told where to sit. It was a good job we and the other couple were not on a romantic break as we were sat on a table of 4, despite the hotel being half full and plenty of other tables were available.
The rooms are ok, they lack the little touches, like soap etc that would make it a better 3 star hotel, and also there are no safe deposit boxes in the hotel.
It was very quiet and this was indeed a plus, as some of the other hotels in the village were right on top of a club that went till 4am!!
The info book in the room is in German, and I think as 90% of the guests were either British or Dutch, they could have done the same info in other languages.
The food was dull, dinner was a choice of 2 main courses and soup for the starter, all the potatoes were deep fried and the desserts were ice cream, tinned fruit or yoghurt.
Breakfast was better with a buffet, so you can eat as much as you like and they are very good at filling the coffee pot.
The owners were friendly enough, not over doing the friendly approach, but were professional all the same.

I cannot fault this hotel. The welcome is wonderful and the whole place has a lovely homely feel.
The owners make you feel like part of the family, and if you are a beginner like we were, it is a 2 minute walk from a lovely blue run.
The food was simple but very nice, and the bedrooms are comfy and clean.
Whilst it isn't a 4 star hotel, we would definitely stay here again if we visited the area.

Just back from a wonderfull walking holiday in Niederau. We stayed at the hotel Hannes and we couldn't have picked a better hotel. The food was great, the rooms clean and with a balcony with great views and the land lady Reggie and her family couldn't have made us feel more at home. A great value hotel in an excellent location. Walking for all levels is fab and you can walk beteween villages...mountain top walks are fabulous with lots of options. Days out from Niedreau are great we chose a trip to Salzburg and weren't disapointed.Plan to go there skiing this year.
