Stayed there April 2008 during a battlefield tour with Leger. Nice hotel, ideal for short breaks. Room lacked tea making facilities, so it's a good idea to take your own as some do. (Including small kettle)
Breakfast was a cold selection but plenty available.
Evening meals were 3 courses and substantial. Not everyone was able to finish them due to being full, no reflection on the food.
Nice quiet bar where you can all gather together for a few drinks in the evening.
Would highly recommend taking a walk to the nearby castle and taking some photos looking down on the village.
Overall an ideal place where all you really need to do is eat drink and sleep.

Period of visit was 5 days (4 nights), over Easter 2008. Weather was very cold and we had several snow showers during our stay. Our room was basic, but comfortable and the meals also were of a good standard, although the choice of vegetables for evening meals was rather lacking. The staff however, were very frindly and helpful. Our tour operator, Newmarket, provided an excellent courier and driver, both of whom went out of their way to make the tour interesting despite the cold weather. Overall, an enjoyable few days, and I would recommend a visit to Altenahr to anyone, preferably though in warmer weather.

5 day (4 night) walking holiday in the Ahr Valley. Hotel well situated in beautiful countryside in the heart of Germany's red wine area.
Hotel comfortable but a little lacking in amenities. Staff very helpful and friendly. Good buffet breakfast.
Set dinner (no choice except vege. option) somewhat mixed in standard. Arrangements by Travelsphere, including organised walks and visits were very well done.
An enjoyable short break.

We have just returned from honeymoon and have had a really good holiday. The room was lovely and we had a balcony overlooking the river Ahr. The food is good and plentiful and Otto and his staff really made it a week to remember. Nothing was too much trouble for them. Thank you Otto, we will hopefully see you again next year.
