Porlamar Apartments

Just back since 26th of april 2011 Worse holiday i have experienced. Arrived at apartment at 9.30pm gates closed, no one on reception. Had to ring a number that was up on the gate and wait over a half an hour for someone to arrive to let us in. Got top floor apartment, which was beautiful with a lovely view. Just as we were heading out for dinner at 10.30 , lighting was bad on the back stairs and my mother fell down the steps had to use my phone to see her leg and knew she needed stitches on both knees. Ran to the front of reception and nobody there to help us. On the door there was a taxi number which i had to ring to bring us to hospital. Rang the number to the person that we had to ring when we arrived her english was very bad she didnt understand what i was saying so she was no help to us. The next day i demanded to change apartment to lower floor in which they did. The owner of the complex did not come to see us until 4 days later and gave us a bottle of wine as an apology in which my parents dont drink. All rooms have to be vaccated at 12 noon and no place to put luggage as reception do not open until the lady decides to turn up. Had to ring travel agency back in cork to ask for them to ring the owner to see was it ok for us to stay in apartment until bus arrived at 5.20pm over her leg. The day before we left they turned off the water in the morning at 10am until 7.30pm without telling us. No pool bar opened for food so had to keep going up and down the hill in taxi's 3 times a day. Still nobody came to see if my mother was ok. Came home and her leg is infected and she may need plastic surgery on her knee. Must say this is the worse place we have ever stayed in would not recommend it to anyone.

Very popular place, pool very small but not many people use it so it's okay really, Me and my boyfriend stayed there for a week and it was great, staff very friendly and is close to everything. Do not use this hotel if you find it hard walkin up stairs becuase there are a fair few on the up to the hotel from the shops. Would stay there again.
