The Marco Polo Hotel is situated up on two hills plus a number of steps, and could be called Cardiac Hotel once arrived.
The bedrooms are basic but clean - don't expect air conditioning or any of the "frills".
The food and the service were the worst we have ever had. Breakfast was strictly for the German and Italian clients, but there was fruit juice available if one didn't mind it watered down. Fruit salad was just hard, brown apple chopped up, and beware; this was the dessert on offer for dinner.
Dinner was at 6.30 and woe betide anyone who arrived late. You ordered what you wanted during breakfast, but no-one took any notice of the paper. If you were brave enough to have more than one course, you were expected to use the same plates and cutlery.
The main course consisted of a very small piece of fish with a spoonful of cold cabbage or six pieces of cold courgette with an unidentifiable piece of cold meat.
If you want to lose weight off your waistline and out of your pockets by having to spend on food outside this hotel, then book Marco Polo.
