The Hotel Eden is situated right off the main square and next to the boat landing stage but it is nevertheless peaceful and undisturbed. The room was spacious and comfortable with a very good bathroom. Only the TV was a bit old and temperamental. Breakfast was excellent... more

Great Location
Spent three nights at the Hotel Eden, our first stop of a ten day trip to Italy. The location of the hotel was wonderful. In the heart of the historic district, within the walls of the castle. The hotel is spotless, staff friendly and helpful. Have to agree with other reviews that the hotel room was a little dreary, sort of 80's furnishing. However, the room was not worn, spotlessly clean, just needs to be updated, especially the light fixtures. Driving into the castle is an experience we will never forget. We kept thinking this can't be right! Sirmione is very crowded during the day with tourist. Late afternoon into the evening is the best time to walk around the charming town and dine.
Superb location, great hotel
Hotel Eden cannot be faulted - spotlessly clean, friendly, helpful staff and superb location. Buffet breakfast was plentiful and delicious. Will be re-booking for 2007
Perfect location
What a fantastic place to stay in Sirmione! This hotel is probably in the best location in the town-right next to the main Piazza and the ferry point-literally 30 seconds walk from reception. There is no pool, but there is a beautiful sun deck over the water with lungers, parasols and a shower. There are also steps into the lake and mooring if you need it. There is also dedicated parking, although we didn't use it. The staff are fantastic-so helpful and all fluent in English if your Italian is not so good. I agree with a previous review that the rooms are a little dated in decoration, but they are not tired or worn-everything is spotless and sheets and towels are changed everyday. The main recommendation i would give is to pay the little extra to get a lake view and if you are lucky enough to be put into 310, 210 or 110, then you will have a lake view from a window at the front and the side of your room, which also looks out onto the piazza-absolutely stunning!! The bathrooms were much bigger than I have previously come across in Italy-with a shower big enough for two and again-very clean. The breakfast was very good indeed-lovely fresh fruit, cereals, toast, cold meats and cheese, pastries and great teas and coffee-they have a very good selection of Twinings tea if that is your thing. This is all taken sitting outside on the patio overlooking the lake-it doesn't get much better! Sirmione was still very busy in early September, but the hotel is very quiet and calm. There is no restaurant for the evening, but frankly, that is a blessing, as you are able to sample all the places in the little town-all within stumbling distance of the hotel. The bar is open as late as you want, but there is also a well stocked mini-bar in the room. Overall-this is a lovely, welcoming base from which to explore Sirmione, Lake garda or just relax.
Nice Hotel in Pretty Town
The hotel Eden was a nice hotel with a great location. It is right in the center of Sirmione and convenient to everything. The staff was very helpful with recommendations about what to do and how to use the boats on the lake. The rooms were clean. We enjoyed the dock in the front of the hotel. It was nice also to be inside the town at night with fewer tourists around.
Lovely time at Hotel Eden
My wife and I returned yesterday from our week long stay at the Hotel Eden. The overall lasting impression was that we thoroughly enjoyed our holiday and the hotel played a large part in forming that impression As most of the reviews emphasise the location is the best feature of the hotel but not the only good feature as some reviews seem to indicate. Our room was on the third floor,307, and had a marvellous view of the lake and decking area. Although we were disappointed with the fact that there is no balcony and only one window, which makes the room appear dull internally. The decor of the rooms was tired, dated, and does need modernised with light fittings and walls top of the hit list. But it was spotlessly clean, with clean towels and bedding every day, and the beds turned down at night with chocolates laid on the pillows. The hotel staff were genuinely warm, helpful and very efficient and as I booked this hotel directly through the internet, I was impressed with the prompt responses and answers to my mails. Sirmione is rightly named the pearl of Lake Garda, as visually it is stunning and the choice and quality of restaurants is superb. This was our first visit to Lake Garda and will certainly not be our last
Great Location shame about the tired rooms
We stayed at the eden from 16th to 19th Aug 2006. The location was A1 just inside the castle at the centre of Sirmione. The hotel itself is a bit tired (floral seats in the lounge area, teak bar, 'fawlty towers' reception, you get the picture), and the rooms were in desperate need of an update (carpet style wallpaper and carpets which just look old). Our room 310 was in a perfect location over looking the lake with the benefit of two windows. Having stayed at The Hotel Verona (in Verona) which was very minimalist (and only 3 star), Hotel Eden would not warrant 4 star (this is location driven). The funniest thing was when we requested a iron and ironing board (remember this is 4 star), at the hotel verona we received a full sized board and iron for our 3 night stay. However, in Hotel Eden we were told we could not have this and instead were only offered a travel iron without a board! The room also smelt a little and the air con was very noisy. The bathroom was ok, but the shower had no curtain so you had to stand right in the corner else the room got drenched The decking area was great and perfect for watching the world go by, it is also great for jumping on a boat to go to other areas (Bardolini was great). If you want location then stay here, if you want a modern well finished hotel then you will be disappointed. On UK standards (a putting aside the great location), I would compare it to a 2 star B&B, and as such was a little over priced. With regards to Sirmoine and Lake Garda dont use taxis as the buses are brilliant and only cost £1-3 (vs £30-40 for a taxi). Sirmoine was nice, more than a few days would get too much but it was a nice relaxing stay!
A Lakeside Gem
This was my second time in Sirmione. This hotel within the walls of the town made for easy sightseeing and fairly easy sidetrips to Verona and Venice. Garda is a great lake to visit and Sirmione a great place to stay. The hotel is quite good with an excellent breakfast served lakeside, a deck for sunbathing, close proximity to gelato shops, and friendly staff. The room was substantial with views of the lake and the courtyard. There was nothing exceptional. It was just a nice play to stay.
Lovely Hotel & Great Location
Stayed at the Eden for 2 nights in July. Fantastic lakeside location just a hundred yards or so from castle. Staff were very helpful and friendly, room was clean & tidy with balcony overlooking lake. Location is perfect next to ferry pier and square with lovely restaurants. Hotel also had sun deck on the lake front. All the restaurants, bars and shops are within easy walking distance. Buffet breakfast was tasty and ample, and also served until 10.30am which is ideal if you are a late riser. Ferry pier next to hotel was ideal to go town-hopping. All in all a great hotel for the money.
Highly Recommend Hotel Eden
My family and I just returned from a 3 night stay in Sirmione at Hotel Eden. Our two sons, ages 5 and 7, loved the town and the Hotel Eden was perfectly located within the old city walls. The room was nice and clean, nothing fancy, and our views of Lake Garda were wonderful. We stayed on the top floor in Room 303, which was a nice size to accomodate all 4 of us and our luggage. The staff were courteous and very helpful (every time we passed by the front desk, the boys were always offered another piece of candy!). Breakfast was included and had a nice selection consisting of cereals, juices, croissants, toast, yoghurt, cold meats and fresh fruits. Sirmione seemed quite busy during the day, but quieted down in the evening and the hotel was very quiet. I would recommend the hotel to anyone staying on Lake Garda.
Nice Hotel in a good location
Booked a quad room and two singles. The hotel is right on the lake and the quad would have had a great view of the lake if it was not for the fact it was foggy/misty for 4 of the 5 days we were there (our fault really for going at the end of their season). The hotel is right alongside the ferry landing which would have been very convenient, if the day we arrived wasnt the last day the ferries ran for this year. But then again plying the lake in fog would probably not have been that rewarding scenery wise. Inside the hotel, the decore was a bit dreary but the staff were all very helpful and the breakfast more than adequate. All the rooms were very clean and a note about the showers, in which you could actually swing a cat. Whilst the hotel does not have a restaurant, it is right in the middle of Sirmonie (yet still very quiet) and there are many restaurants within a minutes walk. We didnt feel the prices were particularly high even in this tourist area. In Sirmonie - the Grotto (roman villa) and Castle were both impressive and we enjoyed strolling throught the car-free streets. The kids loved the 'stepping stones' on the beach below the Grotto where some of the sulphur springs were surfacing. We visited Verona via bus, the beauty of this historic city was somewhat masked by the mist but it was worth the day trip. Would certainly recommend Eden for its position and service. Although next time we will be going in the summer (and put up with all the tourists) to ensure we can appreciate more the beauty of the lake.
