Nice but very noisey
The hotel is in a very centric area, which makes it more interesting. The rooms are small but clean, the only thing that really bothered was that we could hear the snoring from the other rooms and also slamming doors late at night or early in the morning. The pictures that expedia shows of the hotel are not even close to the real thing, it looks fancy but believe me it´s not, it is a cheap, small clean hotel.
Terrific Staff
There were six of us traveling together in March 2004 and we were all delighted with our accomodations at the Corona Opera. The rooms were small, but adequate for our needs, the bathrooms newly renovated, so clean but small, and the location in a small cul de sac (you may have to carry in your luggage if you come in a van from the airport) is both charming and quiet. The lobby and breakfast area are attractive, and the elevator is typically tiny -- adequate for 2, a real squeeze for 3. The staff, however, are the reason I would recommend this hotel. The woman who served the coffee at breakfast greeted us cheerfully each morning and even had tables pulled together so that all 6 of us could eat together. The eggs were amazingly good, considering they sat in a warming tray. The gentlemen behind the desk made dinner reservations for us each night and had some good recommendations for us as well. They also helped us with making arrangements for the airport van when one of our party had to change her plans. And when a peculiar charge came up on my bill ( I was charged for a whiskey that I didn't take from the refrigerator) they took me at my word without question that I had not taken the item. They went out of their way to make our stay pleasant. The location is good, near a couple of Metro stops and good, reasonably-priced restaurants. There are currency exchanges and ATM's nearby. And there was a great internet and phone place down the street that we all used to check our emails and make our international phone calls.
Ooh LA LA
Hotel Coronal Opera Hotel was a real treat!! Great Price! The room was beautiful and the Hotel staff helpful and pleasent. Breakfast in the hotel was one of the best. IT was a great location , easy to catch a metro and travel anywhere in the city, but walking was even better. I highly recommend it!! Marti Schmidt
Very Poor
My wife and I plus two friends, have just returned from Paris. We stayed at the Corona Opera. We traveled with Crystal cities. The hotel is located in a quiet cul-de-sac,which is somewhat scruffy and a bit run down. The Hotel is three * but I'm afraid is somewhat short of this rating. The general feel is shabby, well used and not too inviting. Our two bedrooms were small and in need of refurbishment. The bathrooms had been done which seemed a bit strange. In the brochure it claims the Hotel provides a hot buffet breakfast which turned out to be a cruel joke. We stayed three nights and at only one breakfast, did they provide bacon with the eggs. The other days, scrambled eggs were in abundance and seemed very lonely. The normal continental fare was also in short supply.Overall the Hotel Might Be the norm for 3* in 'rip -off' Paris but it did fall far short of our expectations. If you are looking for a central base and dont expect too much from the hotel,it is okay.I would do more research and look elsewhere.
loved it here
We had a suite with a seprate bedroom from the kids. This hotel was the freindliest and cleaniest of all the hotels we stayed in over a month in Europe. The location was great for catching the metro to major attractions and for shopping. We had booked a room at the Hotel Rougemont around the corner through Holiday House but were upgraded to here. We receiver a fanastic deal, we prepaid $700 canadian for 3 nights and should have paid $240 Euro per night. Even at the hiigher rate I would stay here again.
Quaint Oasis
I had a good experience here. Our room was lovely, though we did have one of the suites. The concierge/desk clerk was extremely patient and helpful in directing us. The location was pretty good... right next to some fabulous crepes off of montmarte and some good shopping and our room was quiet.
Enjoyed Our Stay at the Corona Opera Hotel
We stayed at the Corona Opera Hotel for 6 nights and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Staf was friendly and helpful. The location was great. Easy to walk and take the Metro. Close to shopping. Many good places to eat in the area. Clearly fit the measure of a 3 star hotel in Paris.
Needs a facelift
Having read these other reviews after booking this hotel I was quite nervous to see the reality of what the Corona Opera had to offer. While secluded in a quiet location as promised the hotel is still a slight walk away from the central Opera district, with the actual location being dominated by less than appealing surroundings. The hotel itself looked promising from the reception area which was neat and relatively modern, however, the reality when I first opened the door to my room was hugely disappointing. The furniture must have been nearly 20 years old and provided barely enough space for one person let alone two. The bed cover was not only dated but was beginning to fall apart and looked terrible. Luckily the bathroom appeared to have been renovated recently and was quite modern and spacious considering the small size of the room. Had no problem with the level of service and breakfast was simple and quite pleasing. Coffee was however, possibly the worst I have ever had and was simply unpalatable. With mass room refurbishment and the addition of air conditioning this hotel could be a good find. As it stands the three star rating is generous and Paris has much better to offer in this price bracket.
Loved the ambience!
The staff is wonderful, the accommodations immaculate, the small dining room delightful and very "French". Bear in mind that ALL hotel rooms in Europe are very small. This is no luxury hotel, but beautifully European and extremely convenient
Don't do it, go elsewhere
Unbelievably poor. The lift can fit a maximum of 3 people in it without luggage. We were given a room that was not cleaned. Used toilet, used cotton buds and soiled sheets were the highlights of that room. Went to complain, and was given another room after protesting quite a lot. It is amazing the gulf of quality between three star hotels in Paris. I would rate this as borderline 2star - 3 star. I stayed there for 2 nights until I could stand no more and checked out 1 day early. Breakfast ok and as expected before I stepped foot into the place. Location good for meals and Metro. And no, I would never stay there again, nor would I recommend anyone else does. There are nicer, cheaper 3 star hotels in Paris.
