Beautiful accommodation. Shame about the smell.

First off, the lodges are absolutely great. Beautifully appointed with luxurious en suite, modern kitchen with granite worktops, wall mounted LCD TV with DVD player and Freeview - and best of all, an outdoor hot tub. The lakeside setting offers a tranquil view in the evening.
Not much to do around the park if you have little kids (ours are 2 and 5), but I'm sure older children can make use of the lake activities.
Also, we found the area in general didn't have much for young children. We visited - and can highly recommend - The Deep aquarium in Hull, about half an hour's drive away. Also the beaches are good if you get the weather for it (Hornsea, Bridlington and Fraisthorpe are nearby). But otherwise we found ourselves doing the long drive to York to keep the kids entertained. Maybe we just weren't looking hard enough for activities on our doorstep.
None of this is the park's fault, and the fantastic accommodation only loses points because of the pong, mentioned in one of the reviews above. The reviewer wondered if it was "muck spreading or slurry" - it's neither: it's a water treatment works, located in the heart of the park. That said, it's well hidden and you only really noticed the smell in a breeze. We were just unfortunate enough to be right next to it (beware if you're in lodges 12a or 15) - if you get a lodge further into the park you probably won't notice.

  • Activities: Bridlington is a great touristy beach, Fraisthorpe's nice and secluded if you fancy a quieter beach

Stopped at this resort for on a Monday to Friday break, Plusses: The lodges are beautifully decorated, you have leather suites and a large LCD tv with DVD etc. The bathrooms are really nice both ensuite with a bath in one and a walk in shower in the other.the veranda and jacuzzi are nice positioned next to the lake or the pond at the back. We actually asked for a lakeside one and got the pondside one so watch out for that on your booking. Minusses: The smell, i don't know wether there is a slurry farm or just muck spreading but it is not nice and also there were a lot of flies, you will notice the windows have mesh on them to stop this but they are always flying round the cabin and bugging you while you are in bed. Also if you have OAPs in your party the seating is not great the low leather furniture is not ideal for older people to sit on. 6/10

Me and my partener came away for a short romantic break, and decided on lakeside. As we are both young we expected to be a little stuck for things to do, but when we arrived the accomodation was so fantastic that we stayed in most of the time, althought it is not close to the more popular seaside towns, we found that we could have as much fun just relaxing with a bottle of wine in the hot tub (its also a little cheaper). The new bar and reception was great and the apmosphere on a night was brilliant. The park owners are very welcoming and are more than willing to help. The whole experience was so relaxing and we are going back again this year for a week instead! I can truely say I couldn't have wished for a better holiday! Thank you for a great time!

I visited the park twice last year and cant wait to go back there again.
The park is beautiful and the log cabins sit around a stunning lake, the finish of the cabins are of very high standard and the owners are truley amazing, the club on site is of high standard and there is a lovely country pub just down the road that does great food.
I really cant praise dare park enough, i will be returning again soon and hopefully for many years to come

This is the second year we have been to Dacre Lakeside and stayed in the Log Cabins, they are absolutely beautiful, something special.
The staff are friendly, there's loads of info on local attractions in the cabins, a mobile number is provided to contact the manager at any time of the day, but you don't get mithered.
The outside, private, hot tubs are the perfect place to relax and enjoy a glass of wine (or 2!)
There's just a small bar on the complex, there are local shops and pub within walking distance.
On the downside there's nothing for the kids to do but that's actually quite nice as we spent the whole week together doing "family" things, playing games and enjoying the outside, doing things that we don't get time to do together at home.
The cabins are absolutely spotless and very modern. Would definitely recommend.
