Jun 2008, Mr D Johnston

AFTER READING PREVIOUS I THOUGHT IT ONLY FAIR TO PUT STRAIGHT SOME OF THE CRAP I READ ABOUT MACRONNISSOS VILLAGE.
IT IS SUPERB.
THE ROOMS ARE BASIC BUT SPOTLESS AND CLEANED PROPERLY 6 DAYS A WEEK. TOWELS ARE PLENTIFUL(WHICH WAS HANDY WITH 3 KIDS)
THE POOL AREA IS EXCELLENT WITH LOTS HAPPENING YET LOADS OF ROOM FOR EVERYONE.THE ENTERTAINMENT AROUND THE POOL WAS QUITE GOOD WITH lEIGHTON AND KATIE,AND THE KIDS CLUB RUN BY CHARLENE WAS EXCELLENT WITH HERSELF GENUINELY CARING IF THE KIDS ENJOYED THE STAY AS MUCH AS THE ADULTS.
THE BAR AND RESTAURANT AREA IS ALSO TOPS AND ADAM AND THE GUYS DO GO OUT OF THEIR WAY TO MAKE YOU FEEL WELCOME.
IT IS SLIGHTLY OUTSIDE AYIA NAPA BUT 7EUROS GETS YOU IN AND THE BEACHES IN MACRONNISSOS ARE SECOND TO NONE. THE ENTERTAINMENT AT NIGHT IS QUITE GOOD AND AGAIN LEIGHTON AND CHARLENE STAR WITH THE HYPNOTIST ACT A MUST SEE.........
IN ALL THE YEARS IVE BROUGHT MY KIDS AWAY I TRY NOT TO RETURN TO THE SAME HOTEL/APARTS TWICE BUT I AM SURE I WILL GO BACK HERE.

Apr 2008, Miss SG GOODLIFFE

I stayed here for a week with my boyfriend the pool was excellent very big and was very clean, the food in the poolside bar was fine we ate there in the day. The bar staff panos and florence made the holiday lots of fun they were very welcoming. The childrens entertainer matt was a lot of fun organised pool games n got everyone to join in. The rooms were of a good size for two people they were not anything flash but everything worked and it was fine for the week. The maids came every day and cleaned and our bedding was changed often. We are hoping to come back again in june because we enjoyed it so much.

Jan 2008, Mrs V Lucas

This is supposed to be a 3star plus accommodation but turned out to be an appalling place to stay.
The rooms are shabby and dirty with cracked tiles, leaking toilet, dirty bed linen, cot with holes in and old stained bit of foam as the mattress, blood up the walls etc etc. The whole place looked like it could do with a major overhaul and a really good scrub.
The sun loungers had turned grey and on use of the highchair, we found bits of old spaghetti hanging off the chair along with black mould on the seat. As it was so bad, especially with a young child, we paid out the extra money and went to stay in a nearby hotel.
The Holiday rep was more interested in his night before's shenanigans' Ie jumping off Cape Greko and going out and getting completely drunk.
We wrote to the Holiday Company and complained but as usual they denied any responsibility. We have been to Cyprus at least 9 times and never have we encountered such a horrid place.

Sep 2007, Miss L Scholes

We have just returned from the Macronnissos Village after a weeks holiday.
The accomodation looks from the outside very impressive and the pool area is very clean with plenty of sun beds. The internal rooms leave a lot to be desired as we had stained bedding and towels and the maids visited three times during our stay but the room never had the floors cleaned or the bathroom.
We saw rats in the hotel grounds running near the reception area which when it got dark was not well lit so made it unpleasant when walking around at night.
We are a young couple with no children but following our stay I would not return to stay in the village, its unclean inside, too far away from the town and the buses are not reliable.
I feel this holiday was not good value for money and we wouldn't return. It needs some serious attention inside the rooms.

Went to Macronissos holiday village...
8 / 10
Sep 2007, Mr M Beardmore

Went to Macronissos holiday village with a friend in July.
My first thoughts on seeing the complex was very impressed. Very clean, tidy gardens, football pitch, gym and a huge swimming pool.
We stayed in a one bed roomed apartment at the far end, right by a busy main road. The apartment itself was a bit shabby, the furniture was old and really needed renewing, but it was very clean which is the main thing. (Cleaned and replaced towels in room everyday).
The pool area is great the pool itself is clean and there are loads of sunbeds available, the bar I thought was quiet cheap, a pint of keo was about 1.70 English pounds and the food was also very reasonable and of good quality, also the staff were really friendly.
The beach is about 10mins walk away, we never bothered with it because the pool area was so good and it had everything we wanted. (Video games, pool table, football on telly etc).
The resort itself is 3.5miles from centre of Ayia Napa (we walked it in 45mins)but I recommend you use the buses, these are cheap but sometimes never seemed to stick to the timetable. Loads of taxis around, these cost us 5 pounds, but we haggled and paid only 4 pounds most of the time.
There are some good places to eat and drink within easy walking distance, we always went into town because there is far more choice, and a bit cheaper.
This holiday village in my opinion is great for kids and adults alike (my friend has gone back in aug with his kids) it’s not too far from town, its right next to water park and close to beach, its clean and tidy, not too expensive for drinks and food, good entertainment on every night.

Jul 2007, Miss K Duke

When i got there and saw the pool and the apartment i was realy pleased it was like a little house with a living area, kitchen with everything you needed. Big bedroom area and nice bathroom everything was clean and we had a large patio area to.
The cleaner came everyday and considering me and my friend are not the tidiest of people she did a great job. The food there was nice but i would avoid the salad because they do wash it in there water and it will give you a upset belly!
The pool area was clean and tidy and you never waited for a sunbed. The only reason i haven't given the place 10 is because we were told it was a short bus ride away from the centre but the buses never seemed to come? The first week we spent a lot of money on taxis to and from the town and the second week we found a place near our apartment that we could get a ped. This was the best thing we did and it was a cheap way of getting around. You'll find a lot of people will be doing the same thing. The holiday was great and i would go back again.

Jun 2007, Ms A McClean

My boyfriend and I took my two sisters to here for the first week in June: they are aged 10 and 14 and they had a ball. So this is a must for the family!
On arrival don't be put off by the grumpy reception gentleman. We arrived in a brilliant location at the resort... just a step on to the pool! Which made things very easy.
The largest waterpark I’ve ever been to is just a 5 minute walk from the resort... it is truly fantastic!! Every slide was amazing!! A full day can be spent here as it is so big!
But be sure to apply plenty of sun cream factor 50 if possible as you get burnt to a crisp!
This resort is around a ten minute taxi drive which costs 5 Cyprian pounds (around 6 British pounds) to Ayia Napa so the resort is very quiet at night and perfect for families although there is entertainment provided mostly for the children at nights... a bbq: pirate show, singing etc.
A must on this trip is to visit the Cyprian restaurant to the left of the resort. The Garden of Eden... the food is fantastic!! Perhaps a bit over budget but def worth a taste... and the staff are very friendly.
Olympic organised various day trips with reduced rates for children... I went on a trip
to Famagusta: the ghost town: a must!! And a dolphin safari: fantastic thrill!! But they will offer all these adventures in your induction. Very good days.
The food offered on resort was average budget food and tasted fine... handy for breakfast and lunch!
The beaches are great!! But you have to pay for every sun lounger you sit on regardless of time limits so take a full day to the beach if you are planning to go.
Make sure you get air con... room very stuffy otherwise!! Cooking facilities are ok... advised eating out as you couldn’t cook much with utensils.
Def will be back to Ayia Napa but perhaps somewhere closer to town as quite irritating travelling back and forward.

Jun 2007, Mrs L J Good

Just spent a week in the bungalows with 2 children, I went with my parents who were in the next bungalow, they are very spacious split level bungalows, the towels and linen were changed regularly, there is plenty of indoor and outdoor seating.
The pool area is kept very clean and there is a life guard on duty every day, there are plenty of sun lounges, the staff in Macs bar are helpful, entertainment every night but one night cancelled at last(10.30pm) minute due to football been on.
We went to the Kings Sword down the road for a few meals and entertainment. Very nice and staff friendly! Would definitely go back to the bungalows again.

We booked our holiday through Olympic...

We booked our holiday through Olympic Holidays (last minute). We arrived at about 5AM, and were greeted by a very strange man smoking a cigar (looked Cuban to be honest). He was a little rude but eventually a security guard showed us to our room (which was the only security guard we saw for the whole holiday). Our room was located to the east of Macs Bar on the ground floor. On first impression, our room didn't look as nice as everybody else’s, but once we were in we found everything to be fine. Everything was clean and tidy but very basic (but for what we paid we had no complaints).
We struggled to sleep due to the intense heat (28 degrees at night!) and that we weren’t offered air conditioning on arrival. On the second day we tried to get air conditioning from reception but was told we had to tell them before 4PM so we didn't have air conditioning that night either. We got it sorted on our third day though. The only complaints I had about the accommodation was the shower, it wasn't the best shower I had ever used. A maid came and tidied our room almost every day, she was very polite and even waited outside until we were ready for her to come in.
The location of the hotel was a bit out of the way, but it was only £5 into Ayia Napa centre. Buses were very few and far between but did stop right outside the hotel. We found Macs bar to be very substantial, the food was of very good standard and very cheap. I’m sure the barman "Damien" had a thing for my boyfriend as well. The pool area was nothing out of the ordinary, but was very clean and well maintained. The hotel was very close to the Water Park, which was quite handy and a very good day out.
We found the local supermarkets to be a little expensive unless you were buying fruit, in which case they were very cheap. Much cheaper to eat out, then to cook for yourself, especially since there is many good restaurants on the doorstep (literally for a 2 hour walk to the east there are hundreds).

After reading all the good reviews about Macronissos Village i decided to book my 2 week stay there and wasn't disappointed.
The apartments are very clean (the maids really are thorough and come frequently), and are adequately equipped with everything you need. The pool area is very nice, and there are plenty of sun beds. The bar/restaurant/entertainment area is excellent - the food is superb, there are happy hours everyday where you can buy certain drinks cheaper and if you want to stay at the apartments some evenings there's plenty of entertainment going on.
Also if you want there's a gym, sauna, tennis court, volleyball court, football pitch, pool tables, table tennis and a dart board! Also they sometimes have games organised in the pool like water polo.
The one thing that really made Macronissos for me though were the people. The receptionist staff were so friendly and chatty, giving us advice on where to go and asking how our day had been, the people in the bar area were polite and always prompt, the cleaning staff were excellent and polite, even the maintenance guy was too (and came and fixed our problem within 10 minutes of asking!)
With regards to the location it's about a 5 minute drive from Ayia Napa centre. There are buses that stop frequently outside but we always ended up getting a taxi as buses weren't too reliable and a taxi was only £4-5 Cypriot Pounds. The Macronissos beach is a 5 minute walk and is a beautiful beach with clear water and lovely clean sand. About 15 minutes further down is Nissi beach which is also very nice. We ended up going into Ayia Napa most nights as there's a massive range of restaurants and some nice bars, although there are some nice restaurants a couple of minutes from Macronissos and obviously food and entertainment in the complex.
Overall we were very happy with our stay at Macronissos Village and would definitely return.

Oct 2006, Ms Yc Connolly

I recently came to Macronissos village with my family! We had a great time. The rooms were spotless! The maids would come in every day and leave 2 towels per bed (great service)! The air conditioning was a great thing to have the pool was cleaned every morning!!! And always spotless the only downfall was that there was no lifeguards to be seen anywhere
The entertainment team was brilliant! Danny, Leighton and Rachel!! They were super! Every night there was a different entertainment team there was the glass stacker, a hypnotist, a fire eater, and Mrs and Ms Macronissos they were brilliant!!!
The bar staff (Damien) they are class crack the waiter demi was brilliant a big thanks to him 4 making my granddaughter Lauren's holiday so enjoyable!
He was great with her he would bring her every day and get her ice cream and then at night a drink. The food was alright not the best but just a short stroll down the way the Garden of Eden is a great choice!!
The beach I about a 10 minute walk away but well worth it was gorgeous but very stony!!(Be Careful)
the local taxis are great only £5CYP to anywhere I Ayia Napa but the best one is the service taxis are even better from Larnaca to Ayia Napa only 5CYP great value

Macronissos village is a lovely little village complex situated just on the outskirts of the busy hustle and bustle of Ayia Napa central, Situated very close to the water park it is very useful for families with children. As the water park is within walking distance.
The accommodation at macronissos is a higher standard than what you would expect to get as a 3star hotel. The rooms are very spacious and kept immaculate at all times by your personal maid who attends 6 times a week. Absolutely stunning scenery from all balconies.
The staff are very friendly at macronissos village the reception staff in particular. The bar is situated down in the pool area of the village and is managed by Adam and George who are also very friendly and will help with anything requested along with their bar staff and waiting staff.
Entertainment at macronissos was nothing short of fantastic during my stay here. I have attended alot of superfamily resorts, but the entertainments team here were absolutely brilliant. There was a full entertainments programme in the day with individual entertainers for the activities and an individual entertainer for the kids club. The entertainers when we were there were Natalie and Danny and they were absolutely fab. The evening entertainment was the same each week but with the input of the 2 mentioned above it was made a fantastic evening for everyone every single night, from start to finish. Bingo was even made entertaining with Danny hosting it. You also had outsider acts such as a hypnotist and magician and Elvis which all was of a high standard. Without the entertainers at this superb village our holiday would have fallen flat, and all the guests at the time I was there would have said the same. Everyone would know Danny's amazing singing voice and he will go far with that. You made our holiday guys.
This is a superb village complex for both the younger generation as it is easily reachable to Ayia Napa clubs. And definitely a must for a family. I will definitely be going back with the hope that the entertainment staff are the same.
