Aug 2007, Mr P Johnson

We were very disappointed with our stay here. On arrival the smell of raw sewage in the air was terrible. Room was a small but fair and there was a bad smell of eggs coming from the toilet ,made us feel sick when using the bathroom. It was very warm in the room and as soon... more

Do Not Stay At This Hotel
This is the worst hotel i have ever stayed in! I've literally just returned home after spending the weekend there at a conference and it was an absolute joke! I received a wake up call at 7am on Saturday morning - which i did not request! And when i told the guy on the phone that i didn't ask for a wake up call, he laughed!! Me and a colleague ordered a bottle of wine at the bar saturday night, which was extremely over priced, and when the bar maid opened the bottle she ended up wacking herself in the face with the cork!!! And then moaned that she doesn't like opening wine bottles!!! By the way she's a bar maid!!! Then at check out on Sunday i was charged for my meals, which were included in the price of the room, when i told the receptionist this she started to argue with me! I then i had to go through the bill myself and physically add up what i owed for the drinks i'd had!!! Absolute shambals!!!! I also stayed at this hotel in July in room 8, which is right next door to a function room! At check in they failed to mention that there was a wedding party in that room on Saturday night which ended at gone 1am!!!! I'm sure i saw Basil Faulty running around outside!!!!! Please take my word for it and stay somewhere else!!!
Absolutely awful
The worst hotel I have ever stayed in! Have stayed in hotels all over the world.I spent an weekend at this hotel. The whole visit was a shambles from start to finish. I was deliberately not told that there would be a loud wedding party in the hotel with music going on until 1am. Could not sleep, ruined the next day. The hotel is right next to dog kennels and the barking is heard easily from the hotel. Inept staff. Stuffy and unpleasant. Complaint met with minimal interest, shifted from pillar to post. Try somewhere else like the Hilton in Warwick.
Perfect for a business trip.
I stayed at this hotel whilst working at the NEC in Birmingham. The hotel is spotless (apart from the lift which could do with a lick of paint). My room and my collegues rooms were all comfortable, well presented and had pretty much all you need for a business trip. The staff were polite and friendly. The restaurant and bar area are also nice and modern and the food above average for a hotel of this category. The drive to the NEC was fine and we didnt encounter too much traffic in the morning. We all felt that this hotel was great value for money and would probably stay here again when working at the NEC.
Ecellent
Really nice small hotel, alot of the bedrooms are being upgraded and we stayed in one of those, they are great !!! reception were very good on check in, food was great !!!! Free car parking and is only 10 minutes from birmingham airport - couldnt fault the hotel on bit !! They do have a conference centre but didnt go into that part but if your just looking for a hotel to stay for a night whether business or leisure this hotel is fine....
smell from hell
We booked 2 nights stay here because it looked nice in the pictures. We found it hard to find and on arrival the smell of sewage in the air around the hotel made us feel sick.We checked into our room which was hot and stuffy but could not open the window as the smell of sewage was every where outside. Also there was a foul smell coming from the toilet so even a relaxing bath was out the question.Another thing they do not mention is that there is DOG KENNELS right next door to hotel. So early in the morning you hear 100's of dogs barking.we paid £60 a night for room only.If you want a full english breakfast it is £15each .So bed and breakfast is £90 really.very dissapointing stay.
Good food...
I stayed here overnight as I was in the area on business and paid £120 for a single room no breakfast included (this was an additional £10). We ate evening meal and althought the menu is really small and limited the food was good. The hallways between rooms could have used a coat of paint as they were a bit shabby. The room itself was fine with a comfortable bed and lime-oak effect furnishings. The bathroom was fine although I did have the previous guests half-used toiletries still in mine. The Honiley Court seems very busy with the conference side and it appears to be popular. The guy at reception was very helpful and check-in and out was quick and efficient. There are loads of establishments like this dotted about in the area so I would probably try another next time. I did feel it was a touch over priced for it's out of the way location & facilities.
Some dodgy rooms
We were given keys to a room which hadn't been made up. We were then shown to another room which we rejected because it was full of cigarette smoke. The third room was fine although we couldn't sleep due to disco noise. We had originally booked rooms next to our children but they ended up two floors away from us. In their room, the curtains were falling down. I think that tells you a lot. Yes the restaurant is good. No complaints there.
Great restaurant!
Great hotel for an overnight stay, with well-equipped rooms and a surprisingly good restaurant - which was just as well as the hotel is in an isolated location. Not mentioned anywhere is the fact that jets cruise in to the nearby airport overhead (noise noticeable but not too intrusive). We stayed on a Saturday night, and the hotel was definitely under-populated, but we expected that because it is a weekday conference hotel and we got a really good room rate. Staff were fine - although the Australian waitress asked what we wanted for dessert at the same time as taking our main course order - no problem of course, just a little unorthodox! My only criticism is that the room was uncomfortable to slep in on an exceptionally hot night - beds were made with a really thick duvet plus an optional blanket (not needed, but no single sheet either) and with no air conditioning it was sweltering! Shower next morning required me to climb into the bath - which I don't like, and there was no conditioner provided.
Fab Budget Hotel
I recently stayed at the Warwick Corus as part of a business trip to Solihull. The Hotel is quite remote but benefits for being very quiet with little or no local noise. My room was both large and comfortable...The bed was fantastic...crisp linen sheets and very large.. The first inpression is one of the hotel being a little tired and in need of some simple redecoration.. Windows and paintwork a little tatty... However, I got a great room rate and was extremely comfortable...so much so I have re-booked for another midlands trip in April. I would highly recommend this hotel if you cant get closer to Birmingham or Solihull as transport links are very good.
