For the site Villagio Malibu Beach, I would give it 10/10. It is well maintained, directly on a beautiful beach, has a wonderful restaurant with excellent food and good entertainment for the kids.
However, unfortunately, we booked with Club Cantabrica. We were supposed to have had a hostess service on the way, which didn't happen. Very inconvenient when service stations are so expensive.
The coach drivers were very good and chatty and did an excellent job with their driving, making adequate stops along the way. We arrived on the site and were led down to the Club Cantabrica area.
I had ordered a welcome pack containing tea and milk etc., but the rep had forgotten to get it, though he did get me some bits free of charge. The caravan only had one door, not like on the photo in the brochure, and had a very small double bedroom.
There wasn't enough room for the cases and the carpet and patio areas had not been swept. The mirrors and inner windows had not been cleaned and the cups and plates were not properly clean. There was a splattered bloodstain on our double mattress and the bathroom was not properly clean.
My daughters pull out bed did not fit together properly and there is no way you could get a couple on it. The sheets weren’t wide enough for a couple. There were two dead cockroaches behind the glass cooker splash back. We did not however have the worst van.
Our next door neighbours had arrived earlier and requested a larger van which the rep said had a broken floor and was inhabitable. A few days later though, some people were in there after it had been cleaned. Next doors caravan's bed situation was worse. The double pull out bed didn’t work so they had to use the settees as singles. They hadn't got all of the cooking equipment they were supposed to have. The settees had foam sticking out of them.
All in all the accommodations themselves in my opinion were dated and inadequate.
Going back to the site itself, it was the best place I have ever been to with every amenity. It was just Cantabricas accommodation that let it down. If they had new accommodation I would use them again - as I say, the drivers were O.K., and the Reps did the best they could with what they had, but for the money we paid, the accommodation itself was very disappointing.
If you can get to the site yourself though, they have some wonderful chalets and air conditioned lodges at a similar price to the Cantabrica ones and they looked lovely. Next year I am going to try Siesta to Port Grimaud in the South of France.
