At first glance, this lovely Island of Ischia looks quite small, but l can assure you, it has plenty to offer.
Only an hour by hydrofoil from the bustling city of Naples, it welcomes you with peace and tranquillity.
We stayed at the Solemar Terme in Ischia Porto, situated right on the beach. It is 4 star, with lovely spacious rooms, although the rooms at the rear of the hotel are smaller, and have no balcony, so be warned.
The food in the hotel is excellent, although somewhat strange at times. One course we ordered, turned out to be cheese and tomatoes! The staff are really friendly but don't speak much English, hence the cheese and tomato dish for dinner. Everywhere is spotlessly clean, including the beach.
Take time to wander round the streets of the old town. Try some of the locally produced lemon spirit drink with ice, and for a relaxing cool visit, go to the lovely gardens of William Walton, a haven of beauty.
Travel around the Island is cheap with a pre purchased day ticket, at a couple of Euros, and you can visit Sorrento or Capri easily by boat from the harbour.
