The Karen Hotel is a 3 star accommodation in a superb location. A modern hotel recently refurbished to a high standard with a great range of facilities for all the family. Approximately 150 metres from the beach. 3 km from city center of Marmaris, 90 km from dalaman airport, 30 m from main road, 4 km from old bazaar.

We stayed at the karen hotel rooms good 8/10 food same thing all the time 4/10 entertainment 0 none whats so ever. You go to the bar pull own beer and sprite coke fanta wine. Beer wated but ok. Spirts bar man done for you but plenty there run out a lot of the ones you want but there is always something else. Breakfast continental but ask for omlettes there ok. Every thing going up in turkey so dont be suprised boat trips great go allinslusive we payed £12 english walk along to the marina book your own pay 5 lira deposit no more there will pick you up at hotel we went with boat Sunshine very good food good no hastle. happy holiday hope you enjoy

Tried and tested the Karen Hotel in 2008, after finding a very reasonable all inclusive offer on the Wings Abroad website. Three of us went, 20 year old females, and we all thought the holiday was fantastic, no problems with tour operator and the travelling went very smoothly. Karen Hotel does not look much upon arrival but it is ideally set away from the main strip so you can get a good nights sleep, and it is a 2 minute walk to the lovely beach which you can see from the hotel room. The hotel pool is perfectly sized for the hotel, and it never gets too busy. The rooms are cleaned every morning, with fresh towels and toilet roll replaced every day. Staff are friendly and reliable. Food and drinks are available from 11am to 11pm and there is a large varied selection. I'm vegetarian and it suited me down to the ground, as there is an abundance of fresh salad and vegetables. No entertainment provided in the hotel, but there are plenty of lively bars and restaurants just a few seconds around the corner, and down on the beach front. Hotel is a taxi ride from Bar Street. Excursions can be booked from places on the main street, very reliable, give the mud baths and turtle beach a try!

Thoroughly enjoyed the holiday, the Karen was an ideal 3* hotel.

I am really surprised and shocked to read all this negative reviews about the hotel. My wife and I stay at this hotel since 6 years and we will continue going there. First of all the rooms are great and the lobby looks very modern. The staff is always helpfull to you. Housekeepers are always smiling and keeping the rooms amazingly clean. The food is not the best part of the hotel but it is eatable and needs a bit more variation. But it is not as terrible as it was mentioned in the other reviews. We can not afford a holiday at a 5 star hotel so we are happy to stay at Karen considering the cheap price of this hotel. So the ones who wrote those negative reviews can book a 4 or 5 star hotel and pay 3 times more...

Emailed hotel before arrival and was assured that our families two rooms were together and each had a sea view. Arrived at 5am - 1 room on the 1st floor - sea view. The other on the 3rd floor - rubbish area view, with hardly any room to stand.

No staff could speak english until the receptionist came on at 12pm - oh and boy was she friendly, think i might have seen a hint of a smile - but only when the Goldtrail rep arrived.

Rooms are awful, brown carpets/walls/curtains/bedding - our wall in our room was disgustingly dirty. Handles of cupboards, no light bulbs on wall lamps. Very very depressing - we had one triple room - which was basically 3 single beds squeezed into a twin room, no room to move at all.

Goldtrail are hopeless, we asked to be moved, to be upgraded, and we would pay extra - they couldnt do it, all hotels in the whole of marmaris were full. I even phoned the manager on the help line to be told the same. Do not ever book with goldtrail!!

On our first morning we went for a walk for lunch, and only a few hotels along we went for lunch, had great staff and were shown 13 spare rooms!!! All basic but very clean, tiled floors, white walls and bedding and balcony to the sea - we got it very cheap for the week - wont say how much incase they get into trouble, but you cant book some hotels in Scotland for a night for the same amount.

I told the goldtrail rep the following morning and she didnt care less!!

DO NOT GO TO THE KAREN HOTEL --------------------- I WOULD HAVE HATE TO HAVE SEEN IT BEFORE ITS MAKE OVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

food leaves a lot to be desired - c'mon guys what about a bit of choice? the evening meal was luke warm always!

served to you by a chef who wanted to give you the smallest amount of food possible.

if your a vegetarian forget it.

the breakfast mmm - no hot food, very little choice - cereal, bread, salad, ham, cheese, hard boiled eggs - but what about putting some yoghurt and fruit out for breakfast? oh and one toaster for the whole of the hotel - the chef toasts it for you - well ok he warms the bread for you.

believe me we are not fussy eaters but we ended eating out for the majority of the holiday

the holiday was a cheap n cheerful week away but cheap and cheerful should not mean the negative points above,

that said - maid service was good.

ideal location being one street back from the beach and one street in from the main road.

i would go back to marmaris but not this hotel unless there was a radical overhaul.

heres hoping that this gets read by the travel agent we used goldtrail//holidaymate and points taken on board,,,

JUST RETURNED FROM ONE WEEK AT THIS HOTEL. THIS HOILDAY WAS A PRESENT TO MY PARTNER FOR HIS 50th BIRTHDAY AND I CANT EXPRESS ENOUGH HOW DISAPOINTING THE HOTEL WAS. THE OWNER/MANAGER WAS IGNORANT AND MISRABLE. THE FULL CONTENT OF HIS CONVERSATION ALL WEEK WAS TO ONCE ASK US OUR ROOM NUMBER [ FORGET THE THOUGTH OF A SMILE ]. THE FOOD WAS BASIC, COLD MOST OF THE TIME, NO CHOICE. OK IF YOU LIKE SALAD AND MELON FOR EVERY MEAL. NOT EVEN ICE CREAM FOR THE KIDS! AFTER THREE DAYS WE WERE TOLD THE BEER HAD RUN OUT IN THE ALL INCLUSIVE BAR. WHEN I INSISTED THAT THE WAITER GET SOME FROM THE OTHER BAR HE DID SO UNDER THE BURNING GLARE OF THE OWNER/MANAGER. THE DECOR OF THE HOTEL WAS LIKE SOMETHING FROM THE 1930s, BUT I WILL SAY CLEAN. THE SAFE AND AIRCONDITIONING WERE CHARGED FOR SEPERATLY! JUST WHAT YOU NEED WHEN IT'S 45 DEGREES! THIS HOLIDAY COST US MONEY WE DIDNT EXPECT TO SPEND AS WE HAD TO LEAVE THE HOTEL FOR FOOD, REFRESHMENTS AND ENTERTAINMENT [ OF COURSE NO ENTERTAINMENT IN THIS HAPPY ESTABLISHMENT!!] HOWEVER I WILL SAY THAT THIS MUST BE THE EXCEPTION AS EVERYWHERE ELSE WE WENT THE PEOPLE, BARS, CAFES AND ENTERTAINMENT WERE GREAT. SO ALL IN ALL I CANT SAY STRONGLY ENOUGH PLEASE DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY AND HOLIDAY TIME BY STAYING IN THIS HOTEL.

Have just come back from staying in the Karen Hotel, before going there, we read the views on the Holiday watchdog site and were sceptical and had low expectations before arriving.



Our first encounter with the food was where the chef served a small amount of food to each person, and the self service section consisted of very basic salad, tomato, cucumber, potato salad, shredded beetroot, carrots and olives. The fruit section was fairly non existent, it comprised of watermelon, stale apricots and suspicious looking fruit crossed between a gooseberry and a greengage.



The standard of these meals continued all week, much to the dislike of everyone we met at the hotel. I can honestly say that not one person could say anything positive about the food, in fact most people went out for meals, we included, after the second day as we all found a better variety of food in the local restaurants.



The drinks supposedly at Karen were restricted to one person, as a sign over the bar stated. ‘Only one drink per person is allowed’



I am not a drinker personally, so I wasn’t affected by the lack of beverages, so that situation was lucky for the hotel as that did not interest me, but not for the other people who expected a supply of drinks which was inclusive in their holiday deal. This must have been incredibly disappointing.



Most of the drinks were sold on the outside bar which people had to pay for and that that together with the air conditioning and safe box were also payable.



The entertainment was zero, although several posters displayed a karaoke night, in fact one couple tried to organize a disco but were completely turned down by the annoyed and unhelpful staff.



Each drink was monitored by a member of staff as we were not allowed to help ourselves apart from the coffee and water which was always became empty rather conviently.



The general décor of the hotel was rather run down, chairs and sofas were well worn and it needed a facelift.



The only positive thing I can say was the cleanliness of the rooms, the daily maid service was acceptable.



To sum up this hotel, it was a bitter disappointment not only to ourselves but to all the people we came in contacted with during our stay. In fact the discussion of the hotel meals seemed to be the only conversation throughout the holiday. Most people brought in food from the local MacDonald’s and ate on the outside tables in full view of hotel staff.

just****back from a week a/i would not recommend it the food was disgusting had to fill up on bread it is not selfserve on main meals and staff didnt like you to have to much, you could not have free drinks at pool bar, the hotel was clean but in need of a refurb the area was quite run down the beach was not clean. the bars tried to rip you off 2 vodka and cokes £8.50 you need to watch your drinks all the time as they may get spiked so they can rob you the bars show entertainment on boards outside so they can get you in but acts never turn up i think i just wasted £350 and will not be going back!!!!!!

Stayed at Hotel Karen for 1 week AI. Had to report that on my stay I thought the place was clean, Maid service was spot on, she was a very nice lady and our room was kept very good with fresh towels,And her plesasant smile and manner.

The management I fealt were misereble, The chef prouduced some very unusual meals that lacked flavour and Amounts. Dont get me wrong we didnt expect the red carpet treatment We paid £184 AI But I feel the other Brits staying in the hotel gave them the hump..... and everyone sufferd the consequences.

We were 2 middle aged ladies and only eat in the karen for 4meals...and spent the rest of our holiday eating out.

We did witness a few people complaining on a daily basis about the meals mostley, and comments about the management getting there fare share of piled up meals, while paying guests were limited to very small portions.No entertainment, we witnessed next doors Hotel having a BBQ nite on our third day, we fealt a bit miffed, all in all, would not stay here again.

Plus points were clean rooms maid !0/10........



Management and Chef need to be more pleasant, change the menu, and take on board not all Brits are morons and... And the management need to take these comments Seriousley. Coming to Maramaris end of July again. Ideally the karen was well sited for All amenities. yes another plus, But stay here BB not worth AI. we love marmaris and most of its people but not the karen folks.

Just returned From A weeks AI At this hotel;Well What Can I say, We would have been better off going BB..The food and amounts were below standerd...we were 2 ladies staying at the hotel dont really eat alot...but we found all the meals lacked flavour and amounts.

We only eat here 3times 2 evening meals included.

Drinks were surposed to be included... but most of the times the management staff claimed the beer was run out..... and they also ran out of wine on the 3rd day.

We loved Marmaris having been 3 times,hotel was convientley situated for us for amenities.

But some one should tell the chef we are not all morons from the UK, And smile alittle!!

On my 2nd day I queued to get my evening meal being well mannered tried to pass the plate to the chef, only to be told abrupley to put it down I serve yooooooo.!!!!!!!! Mmmmm

We paid £184 AI And thought they could have done better.

The best points are Clean rooms with a very nice maid, works hard for her pay. Thanx to her she made our week a pleasant one. our room service was excellent.

Over All wouldnt stay here again, seeing the staff with plates piled high with food, when paying guests get morsels..... shocking.

I did witness some guests being really pigish with the booze size...That proberley spoiled it for the rest of us...... But come on Hotel Karen Pull your socks up before you loose alot of customers. We never had any entertainment...claims to be karoke. Fealt that the management were counting the costs...... And this will not work. next door hotel) made the entertainment why couldnt you?????

Lovley hotel...staff let it down... and the menu (amounts) needs to be changed Before its to late. Sorry but there will be many comments along with mine. overall room 6/10 maid and room service food and management staff 2/10. coming to marmaris again in july...avoiding Hotel Karen..... give it amiss if you like your food.
