Sole Hotel

Hotel Sole has lovely views, situated as it is right on the lake. Despite booking in January, we couldn't manage to get a room with a balcony, however, our view of Piazza Tre Novembre was quite nice. Our room was quite big and well maintained. Unfortunately, the food at the hotel left a lot to be desired. It seems to be aimed mainly at the German clientele, with lots of strange meaty dishes - and is quite a disappointment for anyone hoping for more traditional Italian fare. We have just returned from a week at the Hotel Sole. The weather was fantastic, the view stunning and the hotel cannot be faulted. The staff went out of their way to be helpful, even to the point of arranging us a meal when we returned from Venice too late for dinner due to traffic problems. Our room was exceptionally clean, with fresh bed linen and towels every day. The location was lovely, from sitting by the lake for morning coffee, to the square in the evening for drinks. Went on a half-board package with Thomas Cook. The location is superb as many other contributors have already said, adjacent to the ferry port. Our room on the top floor was clean and well maintained daily and we had direct access to the sun terrace which made up for not having a balcony. The only downside was the restaurant where breakfasts were simple buffet style of fruits, cereals, cold meats and breads. Nothing hot. Take your own tea bags. I loved this Hotel. It had just enough old town charm and modern amenities. My room overlooked the square and there was always something to look at outside the window be it other peolpe watching the world go by or the live amusements. Location - best location ferry point nearby, loads of cafes and snacking places, town shops just a walk away the tarmaced walking path to Torbole is just at the side. The room was clean and spacious. The view was breath taking but the bathroom was very basic. Food only average not up to four star standard.

I agree with Trip member Berkshire. We stayed at the hotel in July 2005. This hotel is the characteristic type of hotel which claims to be 4 star but when you arrive, you realise that it is not what you expected. Food (Breakfast and Dinner)was very ordinary for what is supposed to be a 4 star hotel with little choice. We paid extra for a room overlooking the lake and although it is not the fault of the hotel, our view from the balcony to our right was of an electric power station!! Hotel Sole has a fantastic location. Rooms were okay and kept clean. We found the food very average and the service rushed. The staff seemed to want to serve you and get you out of the dining room as quick as possible. They were in a hurry to get the tables ready for breakfast. We found some of the staff unfriendly and most times it seemed an effort for them to smile or be polite. We went with friends and all of us agreed that we would not return

We have just come back after a wonderful week at the Hotel Sole. We booked independently as opposed to going through a tour operator and saved a lot of money doing it this way. When originally liaising with the hotel staff by email they were very efficient and gave us all the information we needed to go ahead with the booking. They also arranged return private transfers for us in a very nice Mercedes. We had 2 rooms, 1 double overlooking the lake with balcony, and 1 double for single occupancy overlooking the lake, but with no balcony.... more

Me and my friends stayed in the hotel sole, for a week 21st-28th of may and loved every minite of it!. The hotel was great, lovely big clean rooms, both me and my friend had a balcony with an amazing view of the town and the lake, its the best hotel in the area its the best view!. We travelled with Archers and stayed at the Hotel Sole. The rooms were comfortable but the views were fantastic. Imagine waking up and from your bed seeing a vast lake as far as your eye can see with mountains on either side. The staff were friendly and couldn't do enough for you.
