Garda Hotel

We stayed in this hotel for a week last week. It is a wonderfull hotel, the staff are really friendly and helpful. The food was really good, very well prepared and very tasty. This hotel differs from all the others I have stayed in for the following reasons; Free safe deposit key, free delicious and comprehensive lunch, free afternoon teas and cakes, free pool towels, free bike hire, breakfast laid on when we departed in the early hours, staff who took pride in their jobs... Myself an my girlfriend have just returned from a weeks stay in Riva on Lake Garda. We stayed in the hotel garda what can i say about the hotel friendly staff in the hotel. Thats all really the rooms were very basic but clean and they changed the towels everyday. As for the breakfast well it was ample your normal stuff of cerials and yoghurts and fruit. Just returned from a week at the garda hotel. A completely fantastic stay, the area in which the hotel is situated is fantastic, a short walk to the lake, plenty of shops etc and a very short walk into central Riva. Do not let the fact this hotel isn't in the centre of Riva put you off at all, the area is buzzing with people and ammenities and central Riva is a very short walk away by the lake which we did during the day and on an evening with ease, even in 38 degrees heat!! Stayed at this hotel June 2007.This Hotel surpassed our expectations. We normally book b/b but not an option with Crystal however we thought we can eat out anyway. The food was so good here that we did'nt eat out at all. We were given a room on the fifith floor after being allocated one on the first floor and we asked could we have a higher floor it was'nt a problem with Gabriella the owner who was so helpful and lovely. Booked a week at the Hotel Garda after reading reports on this site. Unfortunately, the Hotel Garda does not compare well with other 4 star hotels that I have stayed in. I cannot understand why the Hotel Garda has been given a four star rating when its sister hotel in Riva the Savoy Palace, which is also a 4 star hotel, is far superior in everyway. Had a fabulous week at this hotel. Our room overlooked the street in front and we could see the lake from our balcony. Rooms were adequately furnished (lots of coat hangers!) Bathroom a bit small (as was the shower cubicle) but the food and the staff were FANTASTIC! The staff couldn't do enough to help. Agree with previous comments. Great Hotel, good location. Friendly and helpful staff. Food, including free buffet lunch was excellent. Intended eating out a couple of nights but didn't bother as we enjoyed the food here. Beautiful 10-15 minute walk along lake into town. Would recommend this hotel and will go back again.

Fully agree with previous report by Dennis. We visited in May 2006. Everything about the hotel exceeded our expectations and staff very friendly. Well worth its high marks.

Pleasant surprise. Excellent hotel with friendly, efficient staff and superb food. Also extras such as lunchtime buffets and afternoon tea/coffee and cake. Most extras are free such as safe, internet use etc. Room good with view of mountains at the rear. Lakeside only about 200 metres across theroad. Well situated for buses and boats. Trips can be booked from office nearby. Drinks prices are sensible. No unpleasant surprises.

Stayed in this hotel in September. The hotel is excellent - the staff are very friendly and the food is lovely. Across the road from the hotel there is a beautiful walk into town along the lakeside. This hotel is well worth a visit. I would go back!
