Splendid Palace Hotel

The Hotel is ideally situated with breathtaking views from the rooms and Bar terrace.
All the staff were very friendly and helpful. Although our room was a little drab and dated it was very clean and well kept.
Unusually for Italy, a british style buffet breakfast was prepared with boiled eggs, fried eggs, bacon, beans and frankfurters. All along with the usual european meats, cheese etc.
Dinner was quite cosmopolitan plenty of pasta dishes meats and veg. Of course excellent Icecreams cakes and cheeses.
All washed down with an inclusive selection of wines, beer, soft drinks and water on tap.
The waiters were fast efficeint and friendly, allways happy to prepare a table for you .
The hotel was very close to the bars, shops, restuarants and lake ferry in the centre of Limone without it being intrusively noisy.
Possibly better for couples and adults than families.

Hotel Splendid is a three star hotel, run by an Italy family. It felt like been at home, there was a hotel dog and cat, that my kids enjoyed playing with.
It is located by Lake Garda; luckily we had an excellent view as our room was overlooking the lake as are several other rooms. There is a private pier for hotel users to lounge and sunbathe. Breakfast was in the garden by the lake on sunny days.
It is located in the town Centre and was a few minutes’ walk to the designer shops, cafes, restaurants galleries, shopping mall tourist centre and several Ice-cream bars! There is a traditional church that is very attractive to tourists 10minutes away.
Room was airy and big; I liked the tiled floor, felt more hygienic. There is a Ping-Pong table in the garden so take along your ping pong bats and ball if interested. Breakfast was mainly continental. Boiled egg can be ordered.

Hotel Splendid serves the purpose of providing you with a comfortable place to stay. It served us well and we enjoyed spending a lot of our time at the pebbly beach outside the hotel.

Hotel Splendid has magnificent views across the lake Garda and the view truly rates 5 stars, however the hotel is in need of work.
The bedrooms are tired but the public rooms are passable and the waiter service is good making this 3 stars at best.
The most annoying part of this hotel and indeed the holiday is the evening meal arrangements, this is a buffet style dinner which I can only describe as the worst dinning experience I have endured. Unless you are first in the rush the main courses are quickly gone with replacement food hit and miss, waiting sometimes 15 to 20 mins for replacements.
I cannot speak for anyone reading this review but I go on holiday to relax and be looked after. Getting you into the dining room in and out in 40 mins seems to be the main objective, free drinks are on offer which are not the best which is in keeping with the dinner.
Overall the dinner I would rate as 1 star and overall the hotel 2 stars. It was interesting to note a guest comment book by the reception and reading through it the experiences ranged from good to bad with nothing in between, how the hotel can have pages and pages of adverse comments with no action being taken that we or several other couples could see was beyond us all.
If lake Garda is for you, as it has been over a long number of years for my wife and me, choose another venue, there are better accommodations to be had in Lamone and the lake in general.
