We went to carmarthen bay for two nights on a try before you buy offer. they put us in i'm assuming bronze caravan that is about 12 years old in ishmeal park, which is at the end of the site and right up against the railway line with trains passing every 15 - 20 minutes. when we got into the van there was crumbs all over the work-tops, the smoke alarm was in bits on a shelf, the toilet tank was duck-tape, no top just duck-tape, the toilet roll holder was held on by one screw, the tin opener did not work, there were loads of tab-ends outside, the kettle needed washing inside and out, very bad signal on tv, there was broken glass right next to the adventure playground and the slide was not fastend to the floor. crazy golf course looks like it was updated about eight years ago, with bits broken. the amount of wasps in the bar-restaraunt was anoying. the park itself had litter everywhere and the bins outside the shop had not been emptied in two days and had wasps hanging about, and to top it all we all have been bitten all over by something. so will not buy on this site or stop there ever again.

We stayed in a caravan at Carmarthen Bay two weeks ago. I was shocked (almost literally) to realise, while having a shower, that the light in the bathroom had no cover with all electrics exposed. Needless to say we complained. Nothing was done, despite the potentially lethal nature of their mistake. Our child then easily pulled off a handle on a kitchen drawer to expose a sharp screw at the level of his eye. The top hinge on the exterior door then broke so we couldn't shut it. At this point we went home.
I have written repeatedly to the site and received no reply, and needless to say, no refund. I would not recommend anyone staying at this park.
nb I have photographic evidence of everything I have described.

Paid £70 to upgrade to Silver Caravan the weekend commencing 06/05/2011 in number 30 st Ishmaels. Our friends stayed in a bronze caravan no heating in their bedrooms or bathroom just a gas fire in the sitting room they left a day early freezing. Internally the caravan was quite clean but it quickly became quite obvious that no maintenance had been carried out to the caravan during the closed season. Missing blind in kitchen so no privacy at night, broken blind in bathroom and filthy pull cord for the bathroom light switch. Windows had missing handles and didnt close securely. No can opener! or oven trays. Checked out pull out bed under settee and the hinges on it were broken. If you do visit this site get your shopping from Morrisons in Kidwelly on the way the on site shop expensive. Milk £1.75 and bread £1.60.
The site is secluded to say the least. It has a swimming pool but I am afraid it was so cold my feet turned blue and the grandchildren froze. Take plenty of money you will need it if you are going to eat and drink here. Also, do not speak to the booking staff too long as they have a profit sharing telephone number that Park Resorts must be making a fortune out of the time you spend waiting for an available agent and the slowness they actually deal with any request or change to your booking. There is no point writing to them or emailing the Head Office they dont reply so you have to use their high cost telephone number.
Our friends and ourselves will not be returning stick to Butlins or Parkdean Holidays!

I was so worried when I read some of the reviews on here but we were pleasantly surprised. The staff at reception were fabulous and so happy and welcoming. Our silver 6 birth caravan was ready when we got there and was clean and modern. The chalets do look a little tatty but the caravans seem just fine. The beach/estury at the caravan park is great for the kids to play on but for a gorgeous beach with sand dunes and shallow water just 10 mins down the road go to Pembrey Country park. It's gorgeous! There is an adventure playground, dry ski slop, pony trekking, bike hire, miniature railway and of course the beautiful beach! Worth a visit! Back at the caravan park, my kids LOVED the swimming pool and the flume and the going to the club every night and joining in the games. Only downside was the Bingo. Very boring and lasts about 45 mins. The kids have to be really quiet during this, which they found difficult! Ignore the bad reviews and have fun!

we have just come back from a enjoyable 4 day Sun holiday at Carmarthan Bay. i was a bit apprensive at first i must say after reading some of the reviews on here but we had already booked before reading them. but do you no what we had a brill holl. the sight we stayed on was spotless the club house entertainment was average but for the kids great we took our 2 year old grandaughter with us and she loved it. the food was lovely and reasonably priced . the challet was clean and ample room inside. the sea however was out more than it was in shame that.... so i felt i had to write this to put the minds of all you moms and dads at rest, we had a lovely holl there and to top it all off the sun had got his hat on every day. and i'm wishing myself back there.

Just spent a few days at Carmarthen Bay with my husband, Son, daughter-in-law and two grandchildren. We had a silver caravan - which was clean and spacious, the only downside was some missing utensils (frying pan, grill pan, etc - which were replaced quickly once we contacted reception). The park itself was very clean, we saw no rowdiness or bad behaviour from anyone (reading earlier remarks on this site). My grandchildren (8 & 10 years) loved the play area and the on site entertainment, my son also won a weeks free holiday in the darts competition - but drinks at the bar were a little pricey. In the restaurant, the food was good and the staff friendly and helpful. Children also enjoyed the pool, but said the water was a bit cold. Children (and adults) enjoyed looking for crabs in the rock pools on the beach. Surrounding areas (Kidwelly Castle, Pembrey Park, Carmarthen etc) were excellent. The only thing that irritated me was when we went to book in the caravan wasn't ready (2.30 book in) and we had to wait nearly an hour for the key, but the reception staff , who were being harrassed by understandably frustrated holiday makers, were polite and very apologetic. All in all a great holiday. One piece of advice - to get to the Camp you have to go down a long winding lane - drive slowly because of oncoming traffic.

I visited Carmarthen Bay for sentimental reasons in 2008 when I saw the offer in the Sun for short breaks. (I had been in a chalet there in the 70's) I found the site to be clean and the basic caravan I stayed in was clean and very modern.
I had to write this review as so many people seem to complain about the fact that there's nothing to do and its in the middle of nowhere. Why don't these people reseach holidays first and they would know this. There are plenty of places to visit if you have a car, like Kidwelly Castle.
To me this park is excellent if you just want a quiet holiday near the beach. I didn't want entertainment and the only downside was that the shop on the site could have been a bit bigger.
However I had a lovely relaxing break, and have found that Park Resorts are an excellent holiday company unlike Haven which are a nightmare.
If you want a holiday just a stones throw from the beach, like staying in the caravan in the evenings (take a DVD player!) and like the quiet (go when schools are not on holiday), this is the place to go. Lovely staff and lovely caravans.

I booked a holiday for my family through an offer in a reputable newspaper, myself, my partner and my two year old son were looking forward to our short break, but have nothing good to say about the place. I can not believe i subjected my family to such an awful holiday.
BAD THINGS :
Chalet = filthy, it was carpetted, the carpet which was cream was dirty black, the bathroom was also carpetted hence was soakin wet and smelt of urine. We complained and it was cleaned, but there was no improvement. Also ther was black mould around the windows and cobwebs dangling from the ceiling. Silver fish and bugs were crawling around the floor. Finally a family chalet had a glass table, and chairs which my son kept falling off as they were unstable.Beds were damp and there wasn't enough linen to make all the beds. Outside the chalet were numerous cigarette butts = we do not smoke
The beach was filthy, full of rubbish ie cans, wellies, dead birds.
The whole place stank literally of damp, the night time entertainment was dire, and the whole place leaked to the point that there were buckets placed to collect the water. The bar staff were miserable. A number of chairs were ripped and the tables rarely cleared. The toilets were awful, they were dirty, smelly and usually blocked and most of the taps didnt work to wash your hands, I am glad I took my sons wellies as you literally paddled when in them.
The arcade rarely had staff to hand and a lot of the machines were broken.
The childrens soft play area was disgusting, it was filthy ie: had used tissues in it, old socks, sweet wrappers and was usually filled with older children running riot even though there was a sign saying no over 8's, no one was monitoring the area, and when staff did walk past nothing was said.
We often do caravan type holidays as a family, and know what to expect but this holiday was awful. Luckily we have a car and a sat nav as we would have left earlier, we did leave a day early as we could take the smell and filth no more. My advise is keep away and park resorts should be ashamed.

Hi we had a long weekend in a chalet it was in the perfect position overlooking the beach. The chalet had three bedrooms, lounge ,kitchen and bathroom all very clean and spacious. The entertainment was cheesy but the kids seemed to enjoy it. The indoor heated pool was clean and warm we had great fun there. The onsite pub grub was reasonably priced and delicious couldn't fault our holiday here and would definately holiday there again
