The Hotel was spotless, well located and the rooms were excellent. Very Spacious a comfortable. Buffet was good but gets a bit boring by the end of the week. The only downside of our stay was that the Catalonian government had booked the hotel for local residents who were... more

Great hotel, very friendly staff. The food was extremely good - plenty of choice with a good mix of English and continental options. The hotel was very accommodating for guests in wheelchairs with ramps to all areas and large rooms designed for people with disabilities. ... more

This hotel is definitely not a 4 star complex!. It catered for its Spanish guests but not too much for the English. The evening entertainment was rubbish one night (Certainly not for kids) Considering this hotel markets itself as family friendly we had no facilities to... more

Aqua Hotel Montagut are a good aparthotel to spend your holiday. The services were excellent and the facilities were more than appropiate. A fair price/quality ratio.

the good,and the bad.
stayed bed and breakfast.11 nights .the good !clean hotel , good size suite, pool small but ok .food ok . the bad !!! the view from room was the car park ,queing to go into the restaurant, rude unhelpful serving staff, also this hotel caters predominantly for the ignorant german spanish and dutch it does not cater for brits in anyway concequently we spent most of our evenings at the fab english bar "the drunken duck " just around the corner. a warm friendly british welcome awaits.
Not 4 Star
Having recently returned from our 12 night stay in the Aqua Montagut, I felt I had to express my overall disappointment as a couple, after reading other good reviews. The food is poor, we were glad to be only on B&B, even so we resorted to eating breakfast elsewhere. After queing to enter the restaurant you are shown to a table(which may or may not have been cleaned properly after the previous occupant) by a temperamental waiter. God forbid you ask for a fresh orange, if you don't want to use the orange squash machine that tends to produce cloudy water, then you have to get yourself some from the bar. The Buffet food at meal time wasn't much better (15 euro each just B&B). The rooms are of an adequate size, well presented and kept very clean, with TV, safe and telephone. The pool is a little small considering the size of hotel and number of familles staying there. The bar staff were very good did their best. The reception staff seemed very uninterested and had no grasp of english when you had a query. Overall the hotel doesn't accomodate the British well, predominantly there are Spanish and Dutch guests. Entertainment was laid on during the day and night, and caters well for famillies who like parrot shows performed by knakered birds, a magic show performed by someone who had got a magic trick box for christmas, an embarasing beauty contest and some unique Cabaret. We paid a few visits to the Alhambra hotel on an evening for the enertainment. The hotel is well located on the edge of Malgrat, which offers a number of bars/cafes, souvenir shops, but a lack of quality Restaurants. Santa Susanna has little to offer except from a nice prom and a small fairground. The poor beach is a 5 minute walk under the railway line. We won't be rushing back here.
First class hotel
My wife and I have just come back from a weeks stay at the Montagut it was the second year we have been to this hotel we went by coach and after a long journey once again we found this hotel still has the freindliest staff anywhere on the Costa Brava the cleanliness is second to none and the food was superb, there is now plenty of room in the dining room after their expansion looking forward to the next time. very good hotel. prob besy in resort
return 2nd June. our family with children 4 and 6 had a great time. food excellent and varied. staff could not do more for you. prob the cleanest hotel i have stayed in. spotless. downside, noisy on the road side at night and morning (coaches, road cleaners etc) the resort had two side to it. half was peaceful and pleasent for families. the other side for younger people wanting to party (nothing wrong with that). we just kept away from that side due to young children. beach great. clean and plenty of small cafes on prom for you to get coffees, drink, food etc. very close to Barca. we had a car and travelled to Tossa da Mar which for us was better resort. beautiful. Pineda and Malgrat a dump. very easy to get too Santa Susanna from Barca Airport. follow the coast road excellent views. worth a visit for a week. anymore and you would need to travel to other places for visits. Marineworld only 4/5 mins in car or 15mins on free bus. excellent day out. wee paid £375.00 for 4 people for one week half board. bargain. flights with easyjet extra.
Shame about the food!
The hotel is in a convenient position for the shops, bars, etc. and about 20 mins. walk from the train station with regular trains to Barcelona and all the resorts in between. The rooms are of good size, with a partition separating the bed from the sitting area, which has sofa and TV. There is a minibar available at extra cost. The hotel has been refurbished, and is clean and well-maintained and the reception and cleaning staff are helpful and friendly. We were very disappointed in the food. The buffet is not 4* quality and fortunately they provide a microwave as the food is seldom hot. Whereas breakfast sees dishes of cooked carrots, macedoine, etc., it is hard to find a decent potato dish for dinner, and there are seldom any dishes of vegetables! They have a triple check when you go into the restaurant which means that long queues form to get in, and some of the staff are surly. The restaurant and the corridors were very noisy on the many occasions when transit coaches were bringing guests to the hotel, and there were a lot of unruly noisy children running around.
Amazing Value and lovely hotel
I can honestly say i was amazed by this hotel. The hotel was very modern and clean. The Food was really nice much better than any hotel i have ever eaten in. Even better than 5 star hotels. The suites are big, clean, modern and to be honest faultless. Not many English people at the hotel mostly Dutch and French. There is a play room for the kids and nightly kids disco. Entertainment was very varied and was actually of a very good standard. Will definatly be returning next year.
better than expected!!
After having spent the last few years self catering, (the last time i was in a hotel was in 1985) as i like to have more that one room, i found this hotel seemed to have everything we could want,,,,,,, the rooms were suites, eg, a lounge with substantial sofa bed, sprung too, and a seperate bedroom, airconditioning, hairdryer and a fridge. I was a little concerned about food as i have 3 fussy eaters but there was so much on offer you could get a decent meal out of anything, from salads to joints of meat to specialities like squid and snails!!! Lots of other nationalities to cater for and we ate like kings, entertainment every night ranging from magicians to belly dancers and acrobatic shows, and all the kids got front seats!! the kids club was good too. a different activity everyday for each age, staff really helpfull and polite,,, I have read lots of reviews on this hotel on many sites so i was a bit prepared for it , but still pleasantly surprised at just how good it was,,,,,,will be hard to find another one as good i think at the price we paid!! this hotel gets a good thumbs up from us......
the best hotel ever
I went to this hotel in may for the second time and I found it the best hotel ever i went with my daughters aged 5 and 1 they loved it all the bar staff reception staff ect are very pleasant and welcoming the kids club staff are so friendly they are exercelent with all children there is entertainment every night which is also exerlent for all the family the cleanliness is to its best never had any problems during my stay iam going back there soon its so good i would recommend it very much it is very close to the beach and shops train station . kids club staff David and the the ladys alesha and jessica from blackpool england says hola your the best x x x see you soon.
Loved the Aqua Montagut
We arrived at the Aqua on a late booking, and we really struck lucky with this hotel and the resort. The hotel reception were very friendly and were taken to our rooms. They were spotlessly clean, and I am fussy with hotel rooms. The meals, we were on a halfboard basis, were excellent. Plenty of choice for breakfast and evening meal. The staff were friendly and service was very quick. There was entertainment at the hotel and this was of a good standard. The resort was lovely, I would say aimed at couples of all ages and families. I dont think this resort would appeal to the 18-30's!! It was lovely to walk along in the evening with all the craft stalls lit up, and stop and enjoy a drink in the many bars and restaurants. Will definetley be returning.
ok but not great
Myself, wife, and 2 children (12 & 15) visted the aqua montagut aparthotel in july 2002. We arrived there late at night and at that point thought we were in the middle of no were as all we could see was spare ground from our apartment. howver once you get up in the morning and go out of the apartments you realise you are very near the sea front. We were there on half board and visited the hotel restaurant. In my opinion, the food was very poor. It was based more for foreign guests rather than Brittish. The entertainment at night was also very poor. This was mainly for foreign guests as well. The rooms themselves however were spotlessly cleaned and not a bad size. There was also a tv and telephone in each room. The hotel was mostly occupied by foreign guests and there was very few brittish guests. The pool area was always very busy and sometimes you would struggle to find a sunbead. If you went in the pool you were not aloud to have lilos, rubber rings or anything like that to take in with you. The resort of santa susana was very clean but very quite compared to the larger resorts of Spain. Overall I would not recommend this for people seeking a livelier holiday and who wish to meet other brittish people whist staying there.
