Gem's the best
from A TripAdvisor Member
Gem Beach Resort is definitely a good place to be. It's ideal for a getaway vacation whether you are with the family, friends or single. The staff are very pleasant and helpful and management goes all out to ensure that guests are comfortable and happy. I spent my last birthday there, enjoyed every bit of my stay and I am looking forward to my next trip at the Gem Beach Resort. The Sur La Mer restaurant provides lovely dishes and there's a wide range to choose from the menu. Waiters and Waitresses does an excellent job in...

Prying & patronising manager - solo female traveller
from vintagetravel
I was a young solo professional who had been travelling at the end of a long 3 month journey around the world. I booked the Gem thinking my stay would be by far the most enjoyable and least stressful of my entire trip. When I arrived the apartment itself was good value for money and the beach beautiful. My problem was that the manager made be feel like a delinquent 10yr old when asking for basic information such as internet use/restaurants etc. I was called boring three times in one sentence for not visiting the nightclub and interrogated if...

Still as nice as ever!
from sueslatt
We just got back from a trip to Grenada and Carriacou. Even though the huuricane hit them pretty bad, the locals are still as nice as ever! We stayed at Gem Holiday which, all in all, had very little damage. The rooms were still as great as ever, but they did lose their wonderful bar and restaurant. They have borrowed a house next door to the hotel which they serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. The food and the staff are just as wonderful as always. Highly recommended (at affordable prices)!
Love this place/

I have been vacationing in Grenada for the last five years and stayed at Gem's every time. I love this place, I find the staff to be very helpful and polite. The room is exactly as listed on the web with that touch of cozy caribbean home style. The food at the restaurant is great.
Saved by a real Gem

Our recent trip to Grenaga started off pretty poorly. My wife and I had arranged to stay at my Sisters Mother-in-Law's property in Grenville. It was a disaster. There was no running water, no A/C, the windows didn't shut to keep out the Mossies and I had to dispatch 4 large cock roaches. We decided to make excuses and head South and into St Georges to check out the Board of Tourism there. We found the Gem resort and went down to investigate whether they had any spare rooms there for us. We were accommodated in a ground floor apartment...

Very Disappointing
from A TripAdvisor Member
This hotel made my wife cry, it was that bad! Left after 1 night, had to pay 2 night penalty, still glad we left and went elsewhere. We were on our honeymoon and this was a very disappointing way to start. Hot water didn't work, phone didn't work, bed was uncomfortable, restaurant served frozen fish, etc. Enjoyed a different hotel on Grenada and a villa on Carriacou, but not Gem.
Avoid this place

Went to Grenada with my wife in June for 10days.The sea and diving in Grenada was great, but the staying at Gem was awful. The place was far from how it was presented to us on the website. The rooms were filthy and smelly, the water in the bathroom supplied with very very low pressure and at random temperatures. Worst of all was the unfrendly and at tmes hostile attitudes of the staff. So openly and evidently not caring at all about any of our request or concerns...Consider to go to Grenada if u like diving and are looking for a quite...

Bad experience at the Gem
from A TripAdvisor Member
My fiancé and I arrived to Grenada with great expectations from the Gem Resort. We were greatly disappointed. There was hot water and cold water but no warm. The stove was not working, neither the toaster. My bedroom window viewed a utility closet, and had a fantastic florescent light for a romantic touch. Dinner cost $75.00 and was not particularly enjoyable. Our reserved room was not available and we were placed in an "ocean view" that viewed little but the cement parking lot out front. Because our reservation was not available we were...

Gem Holiday was a Real Gem!
from trinigirlmd
We visited in November 2001. We paid for a 1 bedroom -- it was just my husband and me, but they put us in a 2 bedroom. Our apartment also had full kitchen, dining room, living room, private bath and patio. The staff made all the difference. They were easy to work with and our housekeeper was so helpful and kind.We loved the privacy of Morne Rouge Bay. It offered seclusion, offered lots of shade, it was clean and the water just wonderful. We actually preferred it to Grand Anse. The property is at the bottom of a hill so if you don't rent...

Gem Holiday Beach Resort
from SusieTall
The Gem Holiday Beach Resort was just what we were looking for: a beautiful setting with local flavor and a close beach. The four of us had a two bedroom efficiency with a living room, dining room, kitchen, and bath plus an outside balcony overlooking the water where we ate our breakfasts. Morne Rouge Bay is smaller and less touristy than Grand Anse Beach where many of the large tourist hotels are. Management was very helpful.
