More Traveller Reviews of My Meric Hotel
lovely village, shame about the poor hotel standard(my meric) not suitable for children-BEWARE BOAT TRIP DESCRIPTIONS!!!
from pinkthistle
We arrived very early in the morning after a 2 hour trip from the airport (not to mention a 2 hour wait for a coach transfer). No hot or cold drinks were available. The food was presented reasonably well but was poor quality and lacking choice.Nothing was warm. Although we had been told a minibar was in the room it was actually a small fridge(unstocked). You were not allowed to take drinks(even water) from the bar to your room.Bearing in mind we were "all inclusive" we were frankly annoyed to be told this. My husband is a diabetic and needs to have fluids freely available in case of "hypo's" so we had to purchase snacks and fluids at the local market. The shower was difficult to climb in and out of due to the corner access. Windows opened fully, notably in the dining room (not nice enough to be called a restaurant), and on the landings so i would not reccomend taking children there. While we were there we saw two children under 5 years climb on to the wide ledge of the dining room which is on the first floor nearly givng us a heart attack!

We have just returned from a 10 day stay in My Meric hotel. After reading the reviews i was a little unsure of what we might find , we had a 3hr transfer from Dalaman and was told to board a different bus when we arrived at Marmaris to Turunc by a driver who could not speak any english a little worrying at 4am in the morning , we arrived at My Meric at 5am and recived a less than warm reception by the man at the desk , but the Turkish porter did make us all a hot drink which was nice.It was well worth the long transfer as Turuch is set in wonderfull surroundings, stunning sea views and all the local,s are friendly and make you feel really welcome,we ate out in on a few occasions a cadak on the sea front, and the Citrus restuarant for breakfast also Fryer tuck fish and chip shop which had the largest cod i have ever seen it was delicious. The hotel food was allways well presented but did become unappitiezing midstay , to the point we could not eat it any longer. The pool is clean and not too busy the music is played load nearly all the time this also can become quite irritating at times, there is also no shade parasoles are avalible if you ask and drinks are very weak. The rooms are cleaned everyday and the beds are comfortable air con not very effective we slept with the patio doors open and were woken at 5am by the Mosque which i found very cultural and relaxing. There is no entertainment at night at the hotel but we went to relax and this did not bother us we went into town for walks and chats with the locals, then returned to the hotel for drinks at the pool side. Turunc is a wonderfull place for familiesand for those wanting to get away and relax all the family did not want to come home, certainly would return ,not to the hotel and is did not meet all our needs but was good value for money, so don,t worry about all the bad reviews go and have a wonderfull holiday , as for the man who took the time to dissmantle the air con vents and take pictuers on his holiday i think should go to the bar have a drink and relax you are on holiday!!!!!!

Hey I arrived back from this beautiful country today Well i stayed with my mum and was greeted by great reception staff that were a pleasure. Chris was very friendly he has spiked up hair last time i saw him. He will gladly help you and recommend trips that you may like. I was a little bit wary since reading the reviews since it seemed terrible but it was nothing like them. A holiday is what you make it. Also how can you complain about the food, IF YOUR IN TURKEY YOUR NOT GOING TO GET FULL ENGLISH BREAKFAST OR A ROAST. The waiters were too friendly at the start since my dad couldn't come with us because he was at work. My mum and I are 15 and 30 so they think we are sisters and are over there for different reasons. After a day or two they stopped and they were a pleasure to talk too and made you have a very comfortable stay. However im sure if you reported it to chris or any other reception staff they would handle it. BRING A MAN! is my advice. We were in the family suites which were gorgeous very spacious and above average furnishings it gave you that wow factor as you walked in. Since for the price it was amazing they also do the apartments with sitting rooms and kitchen. If you are with a bigger party. There is alot about having no water or no hot water. Water seems to run dry for 1-2 hours between 7-8 so as long as you have a shower before then you should be fine. The food was lovely large range of salads plus a variety of different hot food which always tasted good. It may not look apetizing but it is tasty. The bar near restraunt is open at lunch and dinner and there is juice, water, coffee and wine avaliable through all meals at the restraunt. There is always a choice of local fruit for desert if you want it as well as other sweet treats. The pool bar is open 10am - 11pm with an hour closed at the same time as dinner. The pool is open from 8am - 6pm but i must warn you it is like a sun trap since there is no breeze and no shade to hid away in when you need too. We spent most of our time at the beach due to this. The sun loungers are 3.50TL each but take your reciepts to receptition and you can claim your money back anyway. The breeze at the beach is so cooling and the sea is nice and cool. It's a stone beach and can hurt your feet so i recommend water shoes. They have one night of entertainment a week where the waiters do a turkish dancer followed by turkish folk dancers. The henna they try to mput on you stains Beware. Last is the belly dancer. She comes across as quite stuck up and all about money since if you have a bag she will hassle you even more for a tip. If you want to Tip any of the staff DO NOT put it in the tip box or jars give it directly to them since they never actuallly see the money. The manager who comes across as quite up himself keeps it for himself. He doesn't work half as hard as the young lads there. There is a £10 per person Visa Fee when flying from UK so you need that to get into the country. They also have a heat scanner as a way of tackling swine flu at Dalaman Airport. Transfers through the mountains can be very traumatic since they arn't the safest drivers in foreign countries. CURRENCY: I would take Pound Sterling and Turkish Lira Since the copy shops take either and give a good rate. However smaller shops like supermarkets only seem to deal in Lira. If you book trips it also works out cheaper to pay in Pound for the trip but prices on board if not included are usually in Lira Hope I helped have fun.

We have just come back from our 2 week realxing holiday in the lovely resort of Turunc. The hotel is exactly what were expecting - clean, friendly staff and great location. The rooms are a good size and we had the most fantastic sea view The food is OK however does get a bit repetitive by the end of 2 weeks however we knew this would be the case so had budgeted to eat out when we felt like it. I can understand that it may be more difficult if you have children. The added bonus of all the excellent variety of salads is that both me and my husband have lost weight and feel great!! I would describe the food as more full board than all inclusive due to the limited availability of the food. Lunch finished at 2pm and dinner didn't start until 7.30 (there was tea served at the pool around 5 but we don't all eat cake) Drinks are limited to local alcohol and there were times when mixers had run out. Drinks in the evening are served at the 'Sky Bar' which is the bar at the pool. The downside to this was that drinks were served from cheap plastic glasses which were rinsed out at the bar. The reult was often soapy tasting drinks. This was a real shame and the hotel would benefit from having another area to be able to drink into the evening. Plastic glasses and sitting on sun loungers isn't everyone's idea of a realxing night. In fairness though we made the decision not to get 'tanked' up on free alcohol every night and took a trip into the town for drinks - the choice is yours. The pool is on the third floor which is a real bonus as isn't overlooked by passers by or next to a road. Can be a bit hot as there is no shade in the afternoon. The hotel is a stones throw from the beach which is fantastic. Plenty of sunbeds, warm sea, and sandy beach. This is where we spent our days. Top tips: Do your research - Turunc is a relaxing small resort - if you want to party this is unlikely to be for you Arrange a private transfer from airport to Turunc - we took 5 1/2 hrs to get from airport to hotel (should be approx 3) as the driver couldn't find some hotels in Marmaris. It will same you time and reduce your stress levels. Lifts in the hotel are a challenge - people don't use them well and will call them both up and down at the same time ( you can sense my frustration here!!!) If you like tea at breakfast take some tea bags If you go to the beach and want to use the sunbeds (3.50tl each) make friends with the seafront resturants. They place towels on sunbeds to 'bagsy' for customers and trying to find one can be fun. It took us a couple of days to suss. When we travelled British were the minority nationality - this suited us fine and added to the richness of our holiday but I appreciate may not be everyones preference. It can lead to some communication difficulties. (I had to stretch my drawing skills when we had a hornets nest on our balcony) The hotel is great value for money - rather than moan about the food - expect it will be challenging and budget to eat out every now and again. The resturants are excellent and good value- our most expensive meal out was less than £30 for starters, main and a decent bottle of wine. We will definately be going back to Turunc and would stay at My Meric again.

The hotel was spotless and staff friendly. The pool had no shade, which was disappointing, even when you wanted to cool off with a drink, there was no parasols near the bar. No entertainment, but lucky for us we found "The Walk Inn Bar" right across from our hotel, Yavuz and his staff were amazing and could not be helpful enough a really fun pub. I will definitely go back to Turunc it is such a lovely village.
I met my husband there!

When I had booked this hotel i was told it was near Marmaris, but having got on a transfer bus it took nearly 3 hours from Dalaman Airport, and was about and hour or so from Marmaris. The hotel was clean and the staff friendly but the food was very basic and not particularly great. It is a short walk to the beach and a very nice little village but not extremely lively for party goers. Two years later the night porter/ receptionist is now my husband and we haven't looked back!

Firstly after reading re views i was terrified about my hotel which i had aready booked on arrival the man who showed us to our room was lovely and friendly he made sure everything worked the food is basic but what do people expect breakfasy consists of boiled egg, sometimes sausage ,salad ,bread rolls ,bread, and cereal my kids lived of eggs and bread with chocolate spread lunch was salads, chips or wedges, rice, chicken dinner was soup and bread ,salads ,chicken chips, some other meat dish or fish very basic and offers the same meat mainly chicken but its what u make of it waiters are lovely friendly and if u smile and talk they will do the same back our waiter mainly was mustafa he was fantastic and good fun pool opens 8am to 6pm they have sunbeds all around i wished it was open earlier but thats me the bars at the pool where nice enough and at the restaurant bar there was a strange man who used to nearly jump on all the single women but due to complaint left or was asked to leave all the rest of the guys where brilliant with my children there was help urself to coffee machines ,fruit juices at all sittings of food and white or red wine the hotel receptionist is just fantasic he is welcoming, and so helpful i have put a picture of him on here his name is chris to all us his a credit to the hotel the bedrooms are quite big our was on the 9th floor the view from the balcony is fantastic never had any trouble with the water as stated in some of the reviews cleaner came round every day the only down fall was that the sheets where not cleaned once only turned round air conditioning worked there was a bar across the road called the walk inn bar i never used it personally prefered the M48 other end of the main street there is a restaurant just across the road from the my meric on the left hand side just up from the barber and hairdressers this is great people very friendly a guy called smiley works there his nice he also sells a lemon spray near the beach front great for sun burn lol well i enjoyed my holiday its basiclly what u make it urself so instead of going there to complain just go out and meet the people of turanc they are very friendly and helpful oh forgot to say no entertainment at all
wonderful holiday

we were apprehensive after reading bad reviews about this hotel. we were pleasently surprised, it was clean, staff very friendly, food was TURKISH a lot of chicken and meatballs with a wide variety of salads available and always alternative main course dish, i.e. casseroles, liver, fish ect. do venture outside the hotel and you will not be dissapointed, the "walk inn" opposite the hotel is all you need for a great night out, the staff are brill!!!!, go to june and morat at j &m travel agency, and book on there day trips, we reccomend the village tour and the five bays on mustis boat with simba the lifegaurd dog(what a fantastic day out )there are other bars and people who made us most welcome and we will certainly be returning next year.
Don't worry about the hotel, there's a great place next door.

OK, so the hotel is new, the rooms are nice and it is clean but the as for the food and the drinks, just forget it! The food is just awful and the same every day, the drinks are 'weak' to say the least and there is no entertainment at all. But enough of the negatives. The village is wonderful and if you are looking to make up for what the hotel lacks, just visit The Walk Inn bar next door. Great atmosphere, fantastic music - all night if you want it and the staff are friendly. Prices are fair, they treat you well and we had some fantastic nights in there. Entertaining, fun and just a great time. Well worth the 'walk ınn'. Try it.
Just returned from a 2 week holiday with my husband and 2 children. I have to inform people not to be worried about negative feedbacks. On the arrival we met friendly staff, I requested room close to the pool as having young child , and we were given a spacious clean room,... more
