I have been to turunc over 14 times, the people there are lovely, the bars and restaurants are fairly priced. i have been on this page and the reviews of this beautiful village are awful! if you have never been to turkey before then turunc should not be the first place you visit, it is a quiet small village ideal for couples. if you want a spain copycat family holiday then chose the advertised holiday resorts such as Marmaris. of course a mini bus takes you up the hills into turunc, its much safer than a big old coach. it says in all holiday brochures that turunc is a tiny village, therefore there arent loads of holiday makers, meaning they dont need a coach as a transfer into the village. Boat taxis are cheap and take 40 mins to ride into Marmaris, or 20 mins into Icmeliar. meaning once you are there there is no need to travel up the high mountain. The beach is close to many hotels and the sea is beautiful. Turkish people do haggle, thats what their famous for, but if you think turunc is bad you have obviously not been to any other resort in turkey. this village is stunning and the people there i class as family, they do not rip you off and they are not rude. English people, i am ashamed to admit are ignorant, and expect too much from foreign countries.

DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL!!!
The bedroom is quite nice, go into the bathroom disgusting, toilet filthy, showers hadn't been cleaned from the previous holiday maker, and the smell of sewage coming up from the blocked sinks! Food was uneatable, the bar was only open for one night, we had three seperate rooms, and had NO HOT WATER (not even warm) for the entire week. Mouldy food left in hallways, water leaks coming through the ceiling from the swimming pool, third floor had so much damp that plaster was falling of the walls the whole way down the corridor (And the hotel is only suppose to be 2 years old). The manager just shrugged his shoulders when I complained to him, and blamed the reception staff!!! which I thought was really nice. Oh and no water in the baby pool !!! To sum it up ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING.
I have had to rate this as 1, but in all fairness it doesn't deserve and rating

I really don't know what people expect when they go to a foreign country - exactly the same food as you would eat here???
Yes, the food was quite repetative, the hot selection being mainly chips and something. But there was plenty of it, being topped up when running out (as far as I could see).
The array of salads was amazing. OK, some of them were probably left-overs disguised.
I think they mainly cater to the many Russian and Germans staying there, who always seemed to have vast plates of food, rather than the British who were complaining all the time.
To comment on other peoples gripes:
The pool bar stayed open to 11 while we were there.
I didnt notice any drinks running out, but maybe sometimes there was only red wine in the restaurant rather than red, white and rose. Limited choice, but it does say local beer and spirits. If you want branded names or any other spirits other than vodka, gin or raki, then go elsewhere.
There are toilets on the ground floor (reception and 'lounge area'), the first floor (restaurant) and third floor (next to the pool). Which seems plenty to me.
Yes, the water was mainly from cold-tepid to warm-tepid, and it did occasionally cut out, but was back on again within an hour. When you see how arid it is there, you will be surprised it didnt run out more often.
The staff were lovely and friendly if you were nice to them. They do work very long hours. One bartender said he worked from 8 in the morning till 2 in the morning. But they all smiled back if you smiled at them, and would joke if you made the effort. Which is more than I can say for a lot of staff I have met in this country.
It did take a long time to get there, which is more the fault of the transfer company rather than the hotel. And the hotel is not going to be able to flatten the mountains and improve the roads. I didnt find it that scary at all, but could imagine with some drivers it could be.
Turunc is a small and quiet place, but with enough tourist bars and restaurants.
Great for families with small children happy with splashing in and out of the water all day, not good for teenagers who might want a bit of action. Not for groups wanting to be clubbing and drinking all the time.
Myself and my friend all in all had a lovely, relaxing time and would definitely go there again.

OK this hotel has been slaughtered on here! admitably its not amazing! the food was quite repetetive and although there wasnt much choice of hot food, it was usually hot AND it did taste quite good! The bar closing at half 10 instead of the promised 11 was a bit poor but when we got to know the staff and got them in the party mood we was in they started being more lenient with us!
At first the entertainment was poor. and still is! but we took the initiative to make our own! we got the music blasting by the pool and spent nights getting drunk and dancing with anyone and everyone! even the bar staff there ocassionally did their turkish dance for us!
The staff there seem to work all day everyday. and even though this is the case they nearly always smiled and were extremely friendly! The only real problem with the hotel was the reliability of the lifts! seemed there was always 1 out of service and u had to wait forever for the other! the people we met there, both customers and staff made it an amazing holiday for us!
also if you're there check out the walk inn bar across the road, and if u walk down to the beach and follow it right round to the left there is "dream boys" which im sure most of the girls would enjoy!!!

My Meric *** Family Suite
Our first opinion of this hotel was amazing, the view from the pool overlooking the mountains was amazxing and it appeared a very clean hotel. However, after arriving to go for our first meal at the 'All inclusive' dinner menu we found this not to be the case, there was not much variation of food apart from chicken and salad, which was used on a daily basis. There were only a varied amount of hot food available from a very small selection, approximately 5 dishes, however wach one so small to feed about 10 peopl.e We had to go out to other local restaurants for our meals due to the l;ack oq quality And quantity provided. I would NOT, repeat NOT reccommend this to anyone, Espeacially a small family and anyone who like to eat.
The reception area of the hotel is very clean, however the hotel rooms are very rarely cleaned and is mainly only the towels that are changed, ALMOST on a regular basis.
The floors are never mopped and the hotel cleaners appear to be locals who are not the most professional cleaners i have seen. Especially in a 4-STAR HOTEL.
This hotel lacks service, we only managed to speak to ONE english-speaking receptionist and tour operator during our 7-nights stay!! The hopt water was OFF on a dialy basis resulting on freezing cold showers! again i would assume small families as well as adults would enjoy hot water during their stay. As this was addressed to the hgotel receptionist they simply LAUGHED in faces and said " Nothing we can do about it".
The resort of Turunc Bay is a pleasdant resort with some very friendly faces and bars, however it is VERY OVER-PROCED, 1 drinnk of Archers & lEMONADE COSTS 10 LEIRA, WHICH APPROX INTO GBP is £4.00. The local restaurants and bars, once they know you are a tourist will try everything to overcharge you and more times than none you have to haggle for everything, which isn't so pleasant for a relaxing stay.
This My Meric 4-star family suite is my worst stay ever, and i would urge anyine to check 'reviews' before visiting. I hope this has helped you. Thanks

The holiday started off badly when I was charged £4.00 on the turkish airline for a can of sprite. We had to then wait an hour for the transfer to resort. The bus driver kept falling asleep and we had to shout at him. What they dont tell you is you have to get off the coach and change to a small minibus, for the mountain roads. We missed the evening meal - room and cleaniness of hotel excellent. I read last years reviews and thought they must of surely sorted out all the problems but no. Lifts get breaking down, we were on 10th floor, no hot water for the whole of the holiday, in fact 2 mornings no water at all.One day we also had water running down the marble stairs case, same as last year and no lifts. Power cuts the norm over there also. The worst thing was the hotel food, apalling for a 5 star. Lots of salad, not much to go with it. Hot meals each day were the same, rice, pasta, chips, dried up chicken or fish. Strange combinations also like brussel sprouts and peas mashed ! The dining room was very hot with the two chiefs serving the food with dripping brows. Deserts same each day, small cakes or watermelon.Alcohol also once it ran out that was that.Good if you want to loss weight, i lost 2Lbs on an all inclusive !! Beach was a 1 minute walk, sunbeds free but oh so over crowded. Never again will i go to Turkey.

This is my first ever review from an easy going person; love my food any type! I really feel I should warn other people.
Having not been to Turkey before; I was under the impression that I had booked a hotel situated in Marmaris. My Meric Hotel is approx 40mins bus ride away - My 11yr old daughter was distraught and in floods of tears during the journey (had to travel really high up in mountains roads very bumpy and winding)!
Turunc is a remote area (ideal for elderly/people who like peace and quiet) - not so good for young children looking to find friends and have fun!!!. Hotel advertises kids club/disco - there is no entertainment what’s so ever - my daughter spent her time in the pub across the road on MSN complaining to her friends back home.
Swimming pool freezing cold and very dangerous (my daughter) almost fell and injured herself the floor was extremely slippery (no protective cover).
All inclusive buffet - cold, repetitive food not good for children - all-in-all a nightmare! Then had to pay extra for the privilege of moving hotels as did most of the guests at this hotel.
From the frying pan to the fire! - Moved to Club Amar Hotel (Marmaris) - All inclusive food - caught a dose of food poisoning and was ill most of the holiday; staff very rude. After several guest complaints the outdoor pool with slides cleaned and opened (3 days out of the 7 I believe) - Gym closed out of order - as was most of the facilities. This is not a 4 star hotel more like a 2*.
This experience has still not put me off Turkey; it is a beautiful country and the people are very friendly (just not in our hotel)!

The rooms are very acceptable. 'All inclusive' is misleading. No Beach towels, no drinking water in the room, very limited bar hours, very poor selection of drinks.
The main lounge area is on the ground floor, the main bar is on the third floor terrace, at the swimming pool. The only toilets are on the first floor. If you wanted to sit with a drink in the lounge area, you had to fetch it from the third floor. If you were at the pool and needed the toilet, you had to go to the first floor!
Very little English spoken by the staff. Worst of all, the food was dire. Totally incapable of getting hot food out of the kitchen.
They were incapable of finding a sink plug, through the 2 weeks we were there.
Great shame because Turunc is lovely.

Hotel was top notch all Staff other than reception were very polite and helpful.
If you have the constitution of a rabbit the meals will go down very well. If like myself you like Hot food and red meat then this is not the hotel for you. Food was always cold even the soup which thirteen days out of fourteen tasted like dish water.
We found a very nice restaurant called the Cinar half way up the street and into the left beside the fast food cafe, but beware, wear long trousers as the mosquitoes are lurking under the table cloth which I found out to my downfall on the first evening, but the standard and presentation of the food was excellent, £2.40p for English breakfast.

My friend and I stayed in this hotel and although it is shiny and new (it opened in 2006), the service leaves a LOT to be desired. The staff are all constantly depressed and grumpy.
We barely saw a single smile from any employee during our stay. The staff on the front desk seem particularly glum. It was frustrating because their English was not very good and they would often say they understood something when in fact they did not.
On top of that, the staff in the restaurant (all male) were extremely leery and gawping, which made us feel very uncomfortable. We ended up dreading going there every mealtime.
Besides that, the service was very poor. On one occasion I informed three members of staff that the water in the cooler had run out but it was still not replaced. The food is ok but extremely repetitive; I would say on about a three-day cycle so it's not long before you end up eating the same thing again.
Plus you will experience overkill of tomato and cucumber, as well as often the only dessert being watermelon. I am a huge fan of fruit and veg but these items three times a day soon becomes dull and unappetising.
The rooms are nice - a good size and all have air conditioning, which is a must-have in the heat of Turkey. The rooms on the top (10th) floor have a minute balcony so try to avoid these if you can. We started off in one of these rooms but got moved after we kept complaining.
The beds are comfortable as they are pretty much brand new. The trouble was that for some reason there was no over sheet for them! There was a red runner that went over the end of the bed, plus a counterpane in the wardrobe but no actual sheet.
We eventually got what we wanted after much confusion and being offered another counterpane. The beds were changed about every three days but our over sheets were oddly not replaced once.
There is a TV in the room but the only British channel is BBC World. I know you don't go on holiday to watch TV but a music channel or something would have been nice.
We were sold this holiday on the premise that there would be evening entertainment. There was none at all. We ended up incredibly bored and on our last few nights we visited J&M Travel and booked a couple of nights in Marmaris.
We went to the Turkish Night and the drag show at Talk of the Town, which I would particularly recommend. Each evening costs around £19 per person. This includes your travel along the windy lanes from Turunc to Marmaris - it's a hairy journey to say the very least.
The resort of Turunc is nice enough, being a small, sleepy town. All the shop owners say to you 'No hassle', which basically means they WILL hassle you!! However, most of them were polite and were only trying to sell more things, which is fair enough.
The beach is quite narrow, with restaurants and bars all the way along the seafront. The beach itself is man-made and they redo it every April. It was originally pebbles/rocks but they import this gritty stuff (a bit like ground rock from the mountains) which gets burning hot during the day. The sea is gorgeous but you might need swimming shoes as the walk in to the water can be a bit precarious due to the pebbles and rocks.
On the first day I was so sick of burning my feet on the grit and stubbing my toes on the rocks that I had to go and buy some myself. However after that I was fine and enjoyed swimming in the salty, buoyant water. There is an area marked off supposedly for swimming only but somehow you also get the odd pedelo and motor boat. Mostly it is very safe for swimming though.
We met some great people in Turunc, although sadly I must admit most of them were English, not Turkish. I would recommend the Nirvana JKs bar - Julie and Kev will give you a warm welcome. We did go to the Walk Inn across the road for a couple of nights to start with but then gave it a very wide berth after some very difficult experiences.
All in all I don't think I would go back to Turunc but if I did then I would NOT stay at the My Meric hotel, I think I would go self catering instead.
