We have just returned from a brilliant 2 week holiday at the Leda Beach and felt that we had to let people know about the fantastic hotel & resort.
When we arrived at 3am we were put in a grotty room at the very back of the hotel but fortunately I'd read previous reviews and we were expecting this to happen so first thing in the morning we saw the manager and asked to be moved. By lunchtime we had a great bungalow type chalet next to the pool. We came to the conclusion that many people get put in the older part of the hotel to allow guests to keep their rooms for extra time on their last day. Don't let it put you off though because once we had been moved, we couldn't fault the hotel or it's staff.
The food in the hotel's Theater Restaurant was really good and we also found some other great restaurants around the area. We particulary recommend Soundwaves which is round the back of the harbour. We ate there twice and the steaks were fantastic. Do try the turkish kebabs, particularly the ones cooked in the clay pots. If you come out of the hotel and turn right along the beach there are loads of nice restaurants which we found slightly cheaper than the ones around the harbour but to be honest we didn't find the prices too bad at all.
The Leda Beach is in an ideal position, it has a small beach and is a five minut walk away from the hustle & bustle of the shops and bars near the harbour. We saw loads of sea turtles too from the beach a couple of minutes from the hotel.
The ruins around the area are interesting and we even got up at 6.30 one day to photograph the sunrise at the apollo temple which is near the harbour.
All in all we had a great time and would definately go back to Side and the Leda Beach Hotel.

My wife and I went last year (2007) for two weeks. Stayed in a chalet by the pool, a bit basic but adequate for our needs. You will need air con which is extra, as is the safe deposit box if wanted. The breakfasts were really good, self service buffet as often as you want. Didn't try their evening restraurant, but the menu looked good. There were too many choices in the old town to choose from and we wanted a change of scenery in the evenings.
Staff were generally very friendly and helpful with good English. Not many English people staying when we were there, mainly Russian, German and Scandinavian, which was fine by us.
It was great having the private beach on the doorstep, with food and drink on hand when needed. Food, fruit and cold drink can be bought from hawkers who patrol the beach, with cheap prices. Lots of trips to try, we did the trip to Cappadocia and had our first hot air balloon flight. Good value and well worth the time and money, spectacular views, a must do for anyone.
The old town of Side is interesting with plenty to do and see with a good friendly atmosphere.
We're going back again this year, so draw your own conclusions, we loved the place! Overall good value for money if you don't mind a no frills cheap holiday.

We booked with gold travel to go to side on Sunday 8/06/2008. Tickets did not arrive at co-op travel agent after weeks of going in and asking. We went yesterday 04/06 and the holiday has been cancelled. Gold Trail said it was due to technical difficulties. Co--op travel have managed to find another holiday to Ovacik not where we wanted to go but beggers can't be choosers at this stage. Never again will I use Gold Trail and wished I had found this web site.

Arrived late at night, thought we had been dumped down a dirt track, could not find any staff on duty so had to find my way round in the dark with the aid of my lighter. Was taken to our room which was not very nice dirty and smelly. Asked to be moved and was told in the morning, but we insisted we wanted to move then, which after a lot of messing about on his part we were taken to another room but this had not been made ready when the last guest left. We were then put in another room which was a lot bigger but over the kitchen so we could smell the food which was not nice, you could not open the window as the air con was wedged into it and was no good at all.
Meal times you had to get there early or what little food there was, was being eaten by the staff, who stand around smoking and eating next to the food. We even saw left over food from the beach bar taken off plates and put back on to the main counter. Location to the beach was good, as the pool was very cloudy you could not see the bottom.
Staff were not very helpful unless you were German as they tend to shout at the staff, more than the Brits. That is not our way of getting things done.
Good luck if you have booked to stay there, take plenty of money to eat out you will need it. Better still go to Olu Deniz fantastic - read the reviews.

For a 2 star this hotel was surprisingly good. It was clean and the maid came in nearly every day. The staff were very helpful and friendly and made our stay a good experience. The beach is almost on your door step and the sun beds are free.
The town centre is about 5 mins walk away from the hotel where you will find lots of shops and restaurants all wanting you to spend your money with them, so you do get hassled quite a bit, but a polite no thank you usually does the trick.
We were on a B&B basis but we did not bother with the breakfast so can not comment on the food. Most of the restaurants menus offer much the same food but was good, but didn't find it particularly cheap.
The bus station is 10 mins walk so you can catch a bus for a couple of lira and visit other towns. Kumkoy is good for shopping with out the hassle.
We would definitely go back.

Amazing hotel, lovely chalet, fantastic food. Attentive, helpful and friendly staff. Spotlessly clean. 2 minutes from a private beach (get your towel down early!) Cannot give high enough reviews, brilliant holiday, cannot wait to go back.
