We had a fantastic holiday here in September. We were in a room, which had not yet been refurbished, but it was spotlessly clean and comfortable. The hotel is family run and this probably accounted for the welcoming, homely, atmosphere. The staff were the most friendly I have ever encountered and could not do enough for us. We stayed on a full board basis and the food could not be faulted, it was absolutely superb. We could find no fault with the Hotel Waldhof and will definitely be returning as soon as possible.

We stayed with 80 other guests all travelling on motorcycles from UK. The staff could not do enough for us and the food was by far the best we had ever found in mainland Europe. Our room was in the newer part of the hotel and was large comfortable and spotlessly clean. We so impressed with the Waldhoff we are all going back in 2006
The area around the hotel is ideal for touring and the Centre of Zell am See is only a 10 minute walk.
The All inclusive rate is excellent with Bar staff always on hand. During the 5 night we were there entertainment was laid on every night ranging from kitchen parties to Wine evenings.

Disgusting hotel. Reception staff very rude and unfriendly.
Waiting staff (not Austrian) exceptionally nice. Food was fantastic and made up a little for the horrid conditions of the hotel. Our room was tiny, smelly and dirty. Bath tiles were so black I was afraid to have a shower! Shower door was filthy.
Rooms stank of wet carpet and curtains were so dirty they practically fell down. The outdoor pool was lovely although cold. The Jacuzzi’s never had any water in them and sauna was full of stinking Russians who kept pouring water on the coals making it impossible to stay in there for more than a minute! I was glad to come home.
Did I say the food was good - it was the best though shame about the rest of the hotel.

The rooms were cleaned and tidy, although a little dated. The food and service we found were excellent, a buffet type service for breakfast & evening meal with a wide variety of foods. The staff were helpful and friendly in our experience, most seemed to be Austrian (if that makes a difference).
They had a heated room for storing ski & boots. The ski bus stop was a short walk from the Hotel (2-3 mins) and ran regularly in the morning. It was quite easy to get a bus but the later you left it (9.30- 10) the busy it got. The bus journey to the gondolas/ski school was only a short trip (5 mins). The hotel also had a large number toboggan for use on a toboggan night (free).
It was possible to ski virtually to the door of the hotel, on a blue run that ran behind the hotel. It meant that you only had a short walk (20 - 30M) rather than getting a crowded bus. It was a downhill walk into the town about 10-15mins depending on your energy and destination.
Overall our group of 4 had a fantastic time and wouldn't have a problem recommending the Waldhof, the reason we are not returning is that the main gondola/ ski school area is fed only with Black runs. This means that the inexperienced skier has only one blue run to get back to the town or hotel.
