really nice hotel, just booked to go third time. spotless, nice staff, food is ok but certainly not bad as some people have said. santa susanna is only small and not loads to do but it is an excellent base to travel to other resorts while still being able to enjoy peace and quiet. would definately reccommend.

The hotel was extremely tidy, clean and comfortable. The facilities were ideal for guests who were only going to be spending the evenings around the hotel. The rooms were immaculate, kept well and again, comfortable. Overall an extremely good stay, and a credit to the trip.

Great Hotel - Going back next year.
We stayed her for a week, from 29th May to the 5th June 2008, my friend and I and our children aged 7, 4 (nearly 5), 4 and 2. A great hotel, rooms lovely and spotless. The whole hotel overall is spotless and modern. Very curtious and helpful staff throughout the whole hotel. The hotel run childrens club and mini disco is excellent for little ones (we went with four children seven years and under) and the entertainment staff have so much energy! I was weary from reading previous reviews about the food, but found the food choice fantastic, there were no queues as previously descibed and plenty of choice, even for me being a veggie! The pool was clean and the little ones loved the childrens pool, there was aqua aerobics for those who wanted to join in. Will be going back next year.
Good but unremarkable hotel
This is the sort of the hotel I usually avoid. I mean it's too big and gets too crowded that you expect that the standard of the services can't be high. In this occasion this is half the truth. Generally it's a good hotel, it's staff makes it run well. The rooms are good and comfort, with big bathrooms. (If you don't like noise try to avoid the rooms on the first floor just above the disco) The minus of the hotel is the food. Unfortunately, the quality doesn't match the quantity offered. Nothing bad will happen to you probably, but if you have the choice you can find much better food.
wouldn't go again
Just come home from the Aquamarina Hotel Santa Susanna I would never go again, some of the food was good but badly cooked the eggs all runny the bacon not cooked. You had to get in the queue for meals half an hour before they opened. It was very hot last week when we was there, I asked about the air- condition as advertised in the brochure but was told they don't switch it on until mid June, you couldn't leave the door open at night because of the noise when the night club lower down the road closed at 4.am. They take school children from schools in France and else-where in May and June so that made it very noisey. I was glad to come home for a rest after spending 10 Days there
The best holiday!!
I stayed in the Aquamarina hotel in Santa Susanna from monday to friday with my travel and tourism college group. we did not spend that much time in the hotel as we visited different resorts during the day, but at night we had a great time by playing bingo and meeting new people. The meals at breakfast and tea were very nice and there was a large choice for all different people. The hotel itself was nice and clean and also modern, our rooms were cleaned every day whilst we were out. The bar areas were also very clean and were nice to relax in on an evening.
Aquamarina, great hotel
Just got back yesterday from Aquamarina and have to say I must have stayed at a different hotel. The food was great, steak, gammon, salmon to name but a few of the options, plus cooked breakfast. Obviously it is better to go off peak, staff were also great and there was none of the loud music. My son had a wonderful time dressed up for halloween frightening everyone with some of the staff. There are not many english people there but it didn't matter because everyone was so friendly, there was a good mix of older people and families. Would go back tomorrow
What Happend?
This Year Will Be The Last Time We Stay Here For A While, We Have Been Visitng Here For 3 Years Running Now And It Seems To Get Worse Everytime We Visit. The Muisc During The Day Is Too Loud And Repetitive, The Food Is Mainly For German People And The Que Line Seems To Get Longer & Longer Every Year. The Hotel Is Very Clean And Hotel Staff Are Very Friendly. Note: The Hotel Is Mainly For Familys & Kids, Although There Are Some Adult Games Run By The Entertainer Who Thinks He Can Rap Like Eminem But Just Gets Louder. I Don't Understand How The Bingo Is Supposte To Work, They Say The Numbers In So Many Languages, If You Don't Speak Them All You Would Never Win First! Trips: A Great Choice Here, Forget The Prices Sorry :) There's Water Park, Barcelona Zoo, Barcelona Shopping, BCFC, A Marineland Trip, And Alot More...
pain in spain
Just back from a week in hotel could be better if somebody just thought about space sunbeds are so close to one another that you are climbing over everybody to get a bed. We used the hotel next door (Florida Park) much more room and a jacuzzi. Food not good but you can normally cobble something together and if you like runny eggs this is the place for you. How no-one has caught listeria I still don't know, pregnant women beware. Rooms are quite crowded and if you are unlucky enough to be on the fifth floor you will find a balcony that can only be described as "bijou" with a concrete lintel blocking your view. Reception staff are very nice and try their best.
fantastic
family of 7 stayed at aquamarina,we all thought it was great the kids had a fantastic time.food was good as were the staff.hotel is very clean.we were on the 2nd floor looking over the pool so if you wanted to sit and watch the world go buy you could.train to barcelona only 6.euros return,we also took train to calella which was only 9 mins away its good for shopping.we would go back to this hotel again as i can not fault it in any way.in the evening they have stalls outside hotel along the street which most of them were good,we also felt safe and no people begging to buy things which was good.great holiday had by all
Queue to get food
Both my husband and myself went on a recommendation from my sister who had gone off season in previous years. Dont't go high season the dining room opens between 6.30 and 9.30, on the first, second and third day we decided to go down early, bad move, people were queing from 6.15 waiting for the doors to open then when we finally got in we then had to queue for the food which was all very samey eg. pork, pork or pork and on one occasion they even had toasted sandwiches on as part of the meal. We were shown to our seat by a very nice waitress but unfortunately it was on the edge of the dining area and we had to endure the other guests queing beside our table (and even leaning on it) while we were eating our meal. After day three though we found out that it was better to go down around 7.30 - 8.45 and there was no queues. Breakfast was another story everying was cold, we even waited till they brought out a fresh tray of bacon thinking(foolishly) that it was bound to be hot but I think they must keep it till the last tray is finished and it is therefore cold when it comes out, only hot thing was the boiled eggs. Staff were not very helpful either, they ran out of coffee cups and when I asked a member of staff for one he just shrugged his shoulders. One saving grace was the pool, we got a sunbed no bother at various times of the day. The daytime entertainment was rubbish though and we usually like to join in but they only offered football, basketball or musical chairs, at 32 degrees in the shade we definitley did not join in. The other activity was aqua gym twice a day which looked like good fun but the music system was far to loud, Iron Maiden would have been proud of it, we usually went for a walk in the afternoon when it started and we could still hear it 3 hotels away. The resort itself is very nice but a bit too quet with only 3 British pubs the rest Dutch. We went to the Station Bar and joined in there quiz the first week which we enjoyed and decided to do it again the second week but the quiz did not change it was all the same questions, how difficult is it to have at least two different sets of questions eh! Going high season is a definite no no, most visitors are Dutch or French although on speaking to the few British people who had been April/May said it was mainly British then. On the whole a nice place to visit for an off season 1 week break but not for two weeks as there is not enough to do in the resort itself. Will definitely not be back and the few people who had been many times off season and tried it this time high season said they wouldn't go back either.
Nice coastal town, good service, food needs improvement
The hotel is ok. It's a second street from the beach and to get to the beach you need to cross the little road and second line of hotels - not really that bad... Beach is nice, but not impressive, sea is clear and deep from the few feets away of the shore. Boardwalk goes by all hotels with a little cafees, artists, artizan's stands - with shady flowering trees - very nice!!!! Rooms are small , there is a twin bed and full size - normal, nothing special, litlle balcony with chairs and special thing for hanging wet clothes and towels. Cleaning service is good - always the same time. There were forgetting to leave fresh towels twice but front desk was taking care about it immediately. Front desk was THE BEST! They helped us to call airlines because out luggage was lost, they did everything any time we needed them. And it was very friendly service. Airconditioner works in a room only when you come in and insert room key in a slot by the door, we asked to second key so it will work and cool the room when we were out. Cleaning ladies was taking this second key all the time, so just ask them to give it back if you see them around, if not - ask for another key! Sometimes room key does not work - you need to go the front desk and they "refill" them with magnetic or ... whatever... then it works again. The worst part was food. Usually breakfast is good in the hotel, but it was not a case. They did not cook eggs/ omelettes to order and we got cold fried eggs , runny omelettes and very hot hard boiled eggs every morning. Coffee was excellent, juces from concentrate. Big disappointment was that on a dinner time they were closing drinks mashines (regular - juces, water, coffee) stations and you need to order even water from the bar and pay for it! Ridiculous! Food was not tasty - very bland, often repeated. No tasty spanish paela ! Go eat out! You can buy wonderfull spicy chicken close by! Pool was very nice - big, deep with shallow section for the kids. Actually it's a nice place, good location. Once a week there is a local market on a boardwalk - very cheap. I liked Santa Susanna and went to Barcelona and Dali museum from there, there are a lot of places to go and see by train and buses! Many hotels in the same area.If you see the better price - take anyone of them (including Aquamarina).
