Just back from a week staying at this hotel and it was fab I was there with my husband and 4½ year old daughter.
I had read poor reviews on this hotel before leaving and didn’t know what to expect firstly we arrived 5.30am and check in was quick.
Room was great it was huge with 2 double beds and a large bathroom. The food was out of this world so much choice.
The hotel has over 600 rooms but it didn’t matter what time you went for breakfast or dinner there was plenty to eat and you always got a table.
The pool was lovely but freezing. The entertainment was superb especially the last night it was 2 Spanish guys and the dance floor was never empty.
The weekly market is out the front of the hotel and you are situated perfectly for the shops and bars. The walk to malgrat is lovely and the rovers return is a good pub and the food great too!
The only thing that spoilt this holiday was reception I think they preferred to deal with Germans, Italians, Spanish and not the British but apart from that I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone.

My last holiday was over the Xmas holidays. The resort was clean, warm, peaceful - just what we were looking for at that time of year. The hotel was superb, food exceptional, hospitality faultless and the rooms were very good.
Within easy walking distance were the coastal railway and the local station. Trains regularly every 30 mins enabled us to travel to Barcelona (very cheaply) to walk down las Ramblas on Xmas eve - what a contrast to the hustle and bustle of London. On other days we entrained to Tossa del Mar and other resorts further north. Again, at this time of year they are delightful, places in which to relax and leisurely stroll - again such a contrast to the hectic summer months.
To me the piece de resistance (don’t know the Spanish translation) was Xmas day. After a lengthy, superb lunch the afternoon was spent ambling over the sunlit, warm, empty golden sands of the local beach. I would never wish to change this for Xmas in London - ever.

We stayed at the Aquamarina a couple of years ago for Xmas. We were glad to get here as we had come on a coach trip and was desperate to stand up!
Its a beautiful hotel and worthy of a 4*. We had plenty of food, which wasn't too bad and good entertainment. As it was Xmas the management waited on us Xmas day instead of the waiting staff. We had a huge meal, about 6-7 courses. The entertainment was excellent - not a bingo machine in sight!
Santa Susanna hasn't much going on, at least not in winter, but at least I can recommend this hotel.

We booked this holiday last minute and so were not too sure how it would be, However we were not disappointed and had a great time.
I will start with the hotel. The Aquamarina is a large hotel with 608 rooms however it didn’t feel that big or intimidating it also didn’t feel crowded though this may be due to us going in Sept. The hotel is absolutely spotless and seems very well maintained the rooms were just about the right size with adequate storage. the bathrooms were also nice and clean with good showers. the staff were really friendly and very helpful there was always someone behind reception which also double up as a little shop where you could buy stamps and postcards along with other little things.
The hotel restaurant is buffet style and is quite big with one large buffet counter at each end a smaller one in the middle. the food was good with lots of choice catering for many nationalities. The breakfasts were excellent with choices of cereals, pastries, eggs and bacon, a selection of cold meats and a variety of bread, toast and rolls. self services machines provided tea, coffee, and orange juice and water. Although it was ok when we went, at the height of the season it may be wise to get down early for breakfast to avoid having to wait for a table after all with 608 rooms they have a lot of people to feed!
In the evening there was also a lot of choice with much of the food being catered for Dutch and German people (of whom there were many staying) but be adventurous it was all good and after all your on holiday so try something new! The only gripe we had was with ordering drinks at dinner, there were only 2-3 wine waiters around and in a large busy restaurant it sometimes took a VERY LONG time to get drinks. To avoid this problem get the drinks yourself from the small bar in the restaurant Along with the main restaurant there is a separate bar area and outside there is a poolside bar and pizzeria.
"One piece of advice after a swim in the pool there is nothing better than a jug of Sangria and a toasted cheese and ham "bikini" sandwich FANTASTIC !! :)"
The pool itself is bigger than it looks with a separate mini pool for toddlers its very clean and never got too crowded. there are also lots of sunbeds available and no rush to get them in the morning.
Santa Susanna is a little gem of a resort consisting of about 7 hotels along a main promenade with the Aquamarine nicely positioned in the middle. a short walk up the promenade gets you to Malgrat which is a bit more built up with plenty of shops, bars and restaurants. Malgrat wasn’t as clean as Santa Susanna and at night was much more lively with music and a lot more people it was still really good with lots of bargains to be had mainly the very cheap booze which you WILL be leaving with quite a bit of along with the jewellery, gifts and lots of other cheap tat that you will love buying.
Another must is a go on a SEGWAY from Santa Susanna Segway tours its the most fun you will ever have.br />
Before i move on i must tell you about "Melies" which was a great little bar in Malgrat that did very nice coffee and cake and pretty much everything else.
A must do if you go here is a trip on the DolphiJet Boats up to Tossa de mar which is a lovely old Spanish town with a lot of charm and character. the Dolphijets go straight up the coast stopping at all the resorts along the way Blanes, Lloret, ect it was about 20 euros each which sounds a bit dear but well worth it.
The beach was very clean with sunbeds for hire however it is an artificially created beach and the water gets deep quickly and is probably not suitable for small children. the water is very warm as you would expect and it was great fun.
We went to Barcelona and instead of going by coach on an excursion which was about 45 euros each we went by train from the nearby station which cost only 17 euros for all of us!!! at Barcelona we took an open top tour bus which was about 40 euros for all but good fun and probably the only way too see as much as you can in one day.
We would definitely return to Santa Susanna and you wont be disappointed Although it doesn’t have the charm of Tossa it makes a great base for visiting other places and it was nice to return to our quieter resort after a busy day.
