We went to this park for a weekend, a group of 6 adults. We would not recomend this park for a holiday/break. When we arrived at the caravan our bed sheets had just been left at the caravan door in a bin bag and when we took them out to make up our beds some of them were still wet. The curtains and blinds in the caravan were filthy. When we went ot the club on the first night the bar staff asked us for id to buy a drink, we were all happy to show our id but one person in our party had forgotten to lift his on the way out. The bar manager asked him to go and get his id before she would allow him to drink his beer, he did this but when he returned she said that he was barred and was very ignorant and arrogant. She then began to argue with us telling us we all had to leave which we found unfair as we hadn't done anything wrong and we had proved we were old enough to drink in the club. She said we were barred from the bar so we left. When we returned the following night we were told we had been barred from the whole venue and could not even go into the amusements. When we asked why the manager gave us a cheeky response and shut the door in our faces, which we found very ignorant. We went to reception the next morning as we had paid alot of money for the weekend break and were not getting use of any facilites and had no where on the park to buy food (the chippy was shut the entire weekend). The staff at reception were civil but refused to refund any money as the park was closing anyway. We felt that we were not made to feel very welcome by certain staff at the park, especially the bar staff who were very rude. We felt like we had wasted money as we did not get use of the facilites we had paid to use other than the caravan itself.

Went from tues til fri and glad it wasnt any longer....entertainment staff dont speak to u and just look at you like you are an alien while the lifeguards sit with their friends and smirk at u wen u r waiting to get into the pool..the caravan had the remains of someone elses number two in the toilet when we arrived (sorry if too much info) there was no sheets on the bed they were just dumped in a black bag inside the doorway...requested a cot for baby opened it up and it was smelling of sick so had to complain at reception and they brung another one up which wasnt the cleanest either. Safe to say wont be back dont waste your money!

we are just back from there and it was awful what a nightmare nothing to do for the kids during the day even though there was a program but the staff were no were to be found or either playing with older kids doing a different thing very disappointed, pool was small and had a pool party which was a few balls and a bouncy castle, staff actually went on the ball walkers, wasn't very much fun, I think I could create more fun in a paddling pool! They had a movie on Sunday for the family which actually was lord of the rings not a family film at all. At night the bingo was good and most people lefted afterwards, as the shows were like a bad 70s social club, staff dressed in dodge clothing, singing poor, and at the discos the same songs were played over and over again! No shows for all ages and basically very poor,, only good thing was the kids disco though my son won at musical bumps and all he got was a make a mask thing would rather have had a medal or something like other parks give out! No adult games, kid games poor the same over n over again. The only adult game was pick ur cards right Security were rude as my son had a barca top and got sent home which was fair enough as no football tops but there was man who had a Liverpool top who was allowed in the whole night with it, unfair or what! Chippy said 5 till late but actually shut at 9pm and didn't have much on offer or just ended up with chips. Soft play area shut at 6, so did the out door stuff, even though it was still light outside and didn't need staff there during the day so didn't see the different at night. If u want a fun, family holiday then don't come here what a waste of money I have spent.

After reading several negative reviews about this site i wasn't expecting much from our weekend break, however it turned out that it exceeded my expectations. As we were going as two separate family groups we assumed that our caravans would still be together however they were not but thanks to reception staff this was solved quickly and we were placed side by side in kelly meadows which was conveniently located to all amenities. Caravan was basic but clean and had all utensils you would need although carpets in bedrooms a bit grotty!
(and i am very fussy about cleanliness)
The children (10,7 and 18mnths) were all kept entertained during the day and early evening by the 'troupers' however as we were visiting the first week of the season some of the scheduled activities had to be cancelled due to equipment not having been delivered, my son was looking forward to one of these in particular but scott the entertainments manager took time to explain to him why and even took time to play a game of pool with him. Evening cabaret was as you would expect from a holiday park the venue wasn't very big and got quite busy in the evening and that wasn't peak season so go early if you want a deacent seat where you can keep an eye on the kids, the play park was sufficient and in a good state of repair, the shop was well enough stocked, the food from the chippy was fine, not a huge amount for the kids to do other than kids club, park, swimming and amusements but gives them time just to relax in caravan, play on bikes (we took them with us) only downside for us was that the pool only managed to open two mornings that we were there and we had arranged to go in the afternoon, supposed problem with the dosing pipe, although if you had transport they were offering to reimburse you the cost of swimming at the vikingar in largs or the waterfront in greenock as they couldn't provide a pool (it did look clean enough though and if we could have we would have tried it).
So all in all the park was good, staff that we dealt with were all very pleasant, helpful and efficient and we would go back!

Just back from a long weekend at the Wemyss Bay Holiday Park. Reception staff friendly and helpful. Static caravan was very clean (could smell the "flash" cleaner !!) Definately need car (very steep and twisty!) and a small one at that (some of the turns need a couple of goes to get round them - I've got a Vectra !!) Pool small but generally clean (although Gents toilet very cold with a HUGE damp patch on roof !) The only real down point was the kids entertainment (or lack of it !!)We have 2 young children (both under 5) and we liked the sound of the entertainment available looking at the paperwork we were given on arrival. Pity the staff REALLY let it down - in particular Steve. On the Sat morning it was music time and he just didn't want to be there. We eventually made a shaker out of 2 cups and a face mask - there was NO interaction with the kids and he was more interested in his phone ! Monday was no better - it was meant to be a science show/experiments etc. Again, Steve was on duty - oh dear.... We were all sitting there and a character Pontins training dvd from 2008 came on the big screen - I asked what was happening and he said "due to staff shortages and a lack of equipment (all broken !!?) there would be no science show. Why couldn't he have just told us?? Need to get there act together - especially as the Oct hols are coming up.

We have just returned from 1 week at this holiday park. Never again! The reception staff and maintenaince staff were ok but the entertainment staff were diabolical. They didnt have a clue, they couldn't dance, sing or entertain personnally I would have sacked the lot of them, at times it was so bad it was embarassing to watch hence the reason most people just got up and walked out. One of the staff was even chewing gum throughout the performaces and looked lost as to what she was supposed to be doing. We had no escape as there was no other place for us to go as we had 2 teenagers with us and the other bar only allowed over 18s after 9pm. We complained about how loud the music was but to no avail. The pool was very small and the table tennis table was outside along with one basketball hoop and alot of the time it did rain. We booked this holiday because on the website it said there was so much for our children to do but when we arrived there was nothing for them. The young children did have party dancing around 8pm and even though it should have stopped it just went ON AND ON AND ON!!!!!!!!! In our opinion there is not enough information, customer relations in fact its a good job we could get out and about otherwise we would have been leaving alot sooner than anticipated.

We booked a week at this site starting Sat 17th till 24th July. We left on the Monday. If you book on line, read everything on their web blog, and I mean everything.
This site is up a hill, not a slight gradient, but a hill. You DO need a car for this site.
Be warned, their is no quiet lounge, if you do not have any children, but there are in some of their other parks.
The caravans have just what it states, and nothing else.
Take your own cleaning materials, washing up liquid, cloths, toilet cleaning materials, even bin bags.
I personally think everything was overpriced, and I have stayed in caravans before. Definately not worth the money.

we are just back from a week at wemyss bay and I have to say we've had a fantastic holiday the park is spotless as is the accomodation, the entertainment first class, the views spectacular, this park has to be one of the best in Scotland/Britain now.. changed days indeed, the staff couldnt have been more helpful and the kids abolutely loved the pool and had plenty of other things to do such as the adventure playground with its rope slide. I would recommend this park to anyone. Great Holiday :-)

We have just returned from two weeks here, and cannot praise it highly enough. We do not have young children so cannot comment on the children facilities/entertainment etc. However, the accommodation, we had a two bedroom Argyle Lodge, was second to none. The park is in a lovely location, and the views are exeptional. The park is hilly, but the exercise is good for you. We used the train a lot to get into Glasgow, went on two wonderful day trips with Rabbies Tours, use the ferry to Bute, went into Largs. Generally it was one of the best holidays we have ever had.

We spent the bank holiday weekend at Wemyss Bay and the place has been completed gutted since our last visit.
All the hire caravans are new and state of the art with all mod cons.
The venue complex seems to have had alot of money spent on it and looks fabulous. The swimming pool area has also been upgraded with state of the art changing facilities.
The kids entertainment team where great and our 2 had a ball (7&4). I was speaking with someone who advissed that they have put some of the better entertainers at Wemyss Bay to turn the place around which i think is definitly working.
Evening entertainment was good and available in both the showbar & the smaller adult only bar.
Great kids playpark where you can watch them from a beer garden with the most amazing views.
Food was ok and all of the bar staff and security where really freindly.
The weather was marvelous and you really appreciate the amazing views over the river Clyde. We also went on the ferry to Rothsey (terminal at park entrance)which was also a good day out. On the Sunday we went to largs which was a 10 minute drive and had a great time ( very busy).
I would definitly recomend this park as I think Parkdean have really put the effort into turn the place around.
Obviously alot of the reviews are very negative but i think with changes they would definitly improve.

we went with 3 kids 5,8, and 16 and never again shall we go back !!friendly staff when arrived and the views are beautiful. Got to caravan it stunk of cigarette smoke even though there were no smoking signs! Went to the entertainments complex lol, amusements were rubbish, no entertainment for children, the staff didn't even turn up for some of the morning games. The swimming pool is on a session timetable you get about half an hour in the pool- the deepest end being only 1 metre high, you couldnt swim or move in it it was that small. The water was freezing, changing room doors didnt lock and lockers had no locks on them. Bought what was advertised as costa coffee, and watched her open up a sachet of nescafe and put that in the cup. The Chippy was closed - even though its the easter holidays, and the costcutters on site close very early. We did the 'nature trail' on the caravan park and found it was used by the caravan locals as a fly tip, with broken pathways that are unsafe. Took the kids to the playarea on the first day not really safe for the younger ones.No shops nearby, and the towns are very lame with 70's style shops, with nothing to do for children. although the ferry over to Rothsey was really nice. We were all packed and ready to go after 2 days but carried on because of the cost, although 3 families around us did leave within 2 days. Then to top it all someone on site scratched our car with keys all along one side and made various patterns in it. I complained to the reception, but they just said 'arr',
