St. Georg Hotel

Last March I booked a skiing holiday for my family for Christmas with Thomson. I was hoping for a white Christmas in a picturesque setting and to fulfil a promise to my children (now 21 and 19) to take them skiing. I had very high hopes and expectations as I wanted this to be the best Christmas ever.
We departed on Christmas eve from our local airport on time and arrived as scheduled in Saltsburg which had snow! I was delighted, I would get my white Christmas. Transfer took an hour and a quarter and as we moved further towards the Alps the snow just got deeper and deeper. The Christmas lights in the towns and villages we passed through were delightful. Eventually we reached our hotel- a typical Austrian chalet type building. Christmas Eve was their special night and we had a gala dinner which was superb.
Christmas day was hectic, a quick exchange of small presents in our fantastic rooms followed by breakfast, a trip to get our ski passes, skis and boots and on to our first lesson on the slopes by 09.45! Christmas day had never been so busy or exciting. The three beginners in the group had an instructress called Nicola ( she was English) and she was excellent taking absolute novices to skiers in three days. Well done the Austrian Ski School.
The fourth member of the party an intermediate skier had a Dutch instructress who was equally as good. Even though on the fourth day I decided to cartwheel down the mountain unsuccessfully (necessitating a trip to hospital) the skiing was marvellous, the scenery superb and as I found out plenty to do for the non-skier. The hotel was marvellous, food excellent (the gala dinner was not a one off,) the staff friendly and helpful, the rooms and facilities excellent. CAN'T WAIT TO GO AGAIN.
