Rehana Sharm Resort Reviews
" Strange goings on. "
Submitted By: intrepidjust arrived back from Rahan having stayed there for 7 days.
The food we found excellent and plentyfull. Tabled cleaned and no complaints.
The bars however tell a different story.
Initially staff very pleasant, then.
Run out of draft beer in the main central bar. Second day. Had a draft beer then all of a sudden run out again. Then when I sent some one else to the bar they were served draft. They pushing the bottled Stella which was fine but they could not cool it quick enough so it was tepid at best. Then they run out of Tonic in every bar. So I drank wine which was only served in the restaurant until they run out of that. When I started to complain the main bar staff would deliberatley serve the wrong drink.
All of this on top of contacting food poisoninng that I am still suffering from after 6 days.
The beach bar does not serve beer unless you pay exrta for it but you can drink (on all inclusive)spirits, how does that work.
So in conclusion, yes a nice resort and good food subject to bugs.
But when on holiday I dont want to have to go through a list of drinks that they may or may not have and served properly on a daily basis.
Advice: Ask your self, why are there no Germans.
Activities:
" winter sun for £400 -10 days. Bargain!!! "
Submitted By: nemoHotel was very big but never felt like it as so many pools and seating areas for everyone. Three storeys high and very spread out.Lots of sunbeds to chose from.
Our rooms were spacious for the four of us although a family room would of been better. But you only used it as a base to shower and sleep. Kept very clean by Mohammed, every day returning to a tidy room with towel displays on the bed which the kids loved to find.
Restaurant was very clean and food of all kinds were served. Although grab yourselves a seat first before getting food as the very rude and arrogant russians holiday here too.Clean towels every day.
After a short walk to the beach or buggy car the service on the beach was great. The beach is not a sandy beach but fantastic for snorkelling which we did every day discovering different types of fish and coral. Buy some beach shoes £3 each is a must for walking in the sea.
I would definately return here soon.
Advice: snorkellers heaven

" Happy holidays "
Submitted By: katiemayWe have travelled to many places (spain, italy, new zealand , dubai, tunisia etc) and can honestly say that this hotel was wonderful...remember that where ever you are in the world that nothing is the same as the uk, surely that is part of the attraction!?! (go to blackpool if you want the uk experience and a beach. There was plenty of choice and wonderful food at the buffet, but would not bother with the Italian or Fish restaurant next time. The staff seriously could not do enough..of course this was to gain tips, but lets face it these guys work 12-15 plus hours a day and on average get less than £50/month!!! we tipped our most attentive waiter at the beginning, middle and end or our hols and our cleaner beggingin and end of holiday..and we were looked after increadibly well. They even arranged decorations, cake and singing at our table on our daughters birthday.
We were there for 7 days and 4 of our party of 8 had varying degrees of funny tummies..dealt with by immodium for the 2 adults and a quick visit to dr for 2 kids..you can claim back on your travel insurance anyway! It didnt spoil the holiday at all. We would go back tomorrow...you will get better service than you ould get from anywhere in the uk!! happy holidays x
Advice: Wonderful place...we hope we are fortunate enough to return

as the week went on though they did seem a little grubby.

" Rehana sham "
Submitted By: HerpinfestedFood was awful, tiny restuarant and the drinks most of the time were warm. Alot of the food looked nice but very bland.
Staff were only nice when we had flesh on show
Room was lovely doh, many swimming pools, walk to the beach is a bit hard as its pure sun exposure after the tunnel. I would seriously consider trying elsewhere!
Advice: Little culture, but safe !

" food & flies BAD "
Submitted By: gavnorthwalesMyself and family have just returned from the rehana sharm,
what an experiance: I was a bit concerned about this hotel cause of most of the reviews
that i had read.I know us brits like a bit of a moan so i just took the reviews like a pinch of salt. When we first arrived at the hotel we were greeted quite well and was taken to our room. there was a big double bed for me & my partner, a sofa bed for our 9 yr old daughter, a old damaged cot for our 1 yr old son.The room was a good size, and kept clean so we tipped the cleaner on the second day, but they changed the cleaners every day, so they were after a tip all of the time:The pools were clean and the pool with the 2 slides in were fun but you must be carefull, the lining at bottom of the pool is starting to to come up:The food, a bit of a disaster, the first day was ok but after that is was the same old stuff, they cooked meat outside and you could see the flies on some of the meat, so it was a good job we took jars of food for our son:on the third day i started to have really bad pains in my stomach and was back and was in the toilet quite alot.We met a couple the next day and one of them had been bad for 10 days and was in her room for most of that time:This just put us right boff this hotel so we asked our rep if we could move hotels as we were put off by the flies and poor cleaning inthe canteen/buffet area. After a day we met the manager of the sister hotel accross the road and he showed us around, what a difference, bigger cleaner food a lot better and the kids liked it because of the pools/slides and on the beach too; my advice to you all is forget the reharna sharm and book in at the sister hotel the reharna royal beach hotel, thats a five star not a 3 as it should be at the reharna sharm resort, PLEASE TAKE NOTE OF THE BAD REVIEWS, I AM SORRY BUT THEY ARE TRUE, Thanks for reading this review:::::
Advice: very hot
Activities: naama bay

" Important Info "
Submitted By: moonfamOk,on arrival(4pm local time) we were very impressed with the layout and overall look of the complex, not at all like the Mediterranean tower blocks we`re all used to.A map/plan of the complex at this early stage would have helped enormously as we had to keep asking for directions etc.Our room was small but clean, tidy and well equipped although the bed for our 12 yr old was absent and the patio door would not lock.Reception advised us to go out and it would be sorted,on returning at 9pm a small fold up bed had been delivered however it kept collapsing and was not safe,oh and the door lock was still broken. After spending the night squashed into a single bed my wife and I returned to reception and later on same day both problems were sorted out.
Breakfast:
What a disaster! The dining room resembled a very crowded works canteen and a shortage of cups meant that we had to share a brew!Cooked meats, cheeses etc were on plates on a table not in a chilled cabinet and were covered in flies."Hot"food was stored in several metal containers with lids on.The food was luke warm at best and looked as though it had been warmed up from the day before.Pancakes/Crepes folded into quarters were so old they would not unfold to put jam on and resembled rubber!Other delightful dishes included a luke warm quiche or scrambled egg;I honestly could not tell which due to its stewed down condition and a Brown gravy type sludge?? On a positive note there were cereals....but no milk!
Pool area:
Very comfortable loungers and parasols overlook a lovely pool.
Lunch:
Again, food in dining hall was appalling and inedible, however we found a small outbuilding making chips and pancakes which were ok and filled a very empty stomach.
Bar:
Local beer was quite nice but was served in small plastic cups, staff insist on tipping the bottle upside down into the cup meaning you only get a mouthful of beer and the rest is foam.10 cups would probably just make 1/2 pint.Cocktails were made with cheap spirits and were unrecognisable tasting foul.
Water coolers:Several people used the coolers to fill up their own bottles. From the condition of the 5L bottles on the coolers I do not think this water is clean. It is far safer to buy 1.5L bottles in the hotel shop for £1
Dinner:
I didn`t believe it could get worse! A BBQ in front of the dining hall smelled fantastic but on approaching I saw an uncovered bucket of raw chicken pieces sat right next to the cooked chicken, with flies happily going from one to the other! No wonder the pharmacy is doing a roaring trade.Food in the dining hall was just as bad as at lunch.
An "Italian restaurant" is located next to the dining hall but enquiries revealed that it was booked up for the whole of our stay!A small bribe ensured us a table(desperate times call for desperate measures)however when the food arrived even though it looked edible, again it was cold.
Everyone we spoke to; had or was, suffering from diarrhoea !
Back to reception. After yet another "chat" with our tour rep Amir(I`m sure he is scared of the hotel management)he admitted to us that all his English guests complain about the food,we managed to speak to the hotel food and beverages manager Mr Fareed. After a firm discussion he agreed to our request to dine at the sister hotel across the road "The Rehanna Royal Spa".Result! The difference is colossal. Why one hotel can get it so wrong and yet the other can get it so right is unbelievable and a crime.
Location:
The Rehannah is out on a limb and with no evening entertainment of any description a trip to Naama Bay is necessary.Pay no more than 50 Egyptian pounds(approx £5) for a taxi to Naama even though the hotel porter and the taxi driver will try to charge more;get used to everyone in this country trying to fleece you,its just how it is here.By the way the taxi drivers think nothing of driving at 100 MPH whilst talking and texting on their mobiles!Just buckle up and close your eyes.
Staff: The staff at The Rehanna Sharm are amongst the friendliest people we have ever met, always smiling and willing to help, whatever the problem. They are a real credit to this hotel.
Sightseeing:
If you are easily intimidated stay away from Sharm old market area, you will hate the seedy environment and the constant harassment by the traders.Naama Bay which is 5 mins away is a more modern equivalent with the same shops etc but with a more friendly atmosphere.Expect to barter and start at a third of their asking price.
Trips:
The Red Sea snorkelling,or if you wish diving trip,is a must. The clear, warm water is absolutely teaming with some of the most beautiful fish imaginable.Add to that the many different forms of coral and you will see why this is the clear highlight of the holiday.Even the food on board was good.Costs £30 for adults and £20 for kids
Camel ride into the desert:avoid this trek around a wasteland strewn with builders` rubble and fly tipping.Just not how you imagined it would be
Quad biking: Ok if you`ve never tried it before but expect to get choked and blinded by all the dust.
Russians: We read all the reviews about the bad mannered Russians acting like animals,(the Egyptians hate them with a passion)but to be honest although they weren`t the nicest people,we didn`t witness too many incident. Apart from that is,one group at dinner filling carrier bags with food to take away, just like they were in Asda. The strangest sights were the beautiful young Russian clones(they all look the same with their blonde hair extensions and genetically modified boobs) flaunting themselves at every opportunity. It was obvious that they had saved up to come and find a rich husband to look after them. Many even had children in tow from last year`s attempts! Some of the photos they were posing for around the pool were obviously meant for the internet rather than family albums!
Egyptians: A bank holiday fell during our stay and for 2 days the complex was over-run with Egyptian women and children.Dressed in their traditional robes/head-dresses etc ......and then stood waist deep in the pool, was a very strange sight. At lunch time they hit the dining hall with a mission - to claim and stuff as much food down their throats as is humanly possible. Absolute animals! One woman even used the serving spoon to taste a dish before putting it back in the pot!
Overall:
This complex claims to be 2 years old,we do not believe this. From enquiries made,it used to be called The Prima Life and was tidied up and re-named the Rehanna Sharm 2 years ago. However, take a closer look and you will see ripped parasols, saggy beds, broken cupboards and worn out, dirty furniture. It would appear that the hotel was renovated but the contents were merely removed from site only to be resited once the painting was complete.
Having said all that,I would still describe the complex as a rough Diamond that just needs its edges polishing. The disaster which is the dining experience is a tragedy which unless sorted will cost the hotel its European visitors.Incidentally I was told that the Europeans pay the most for a room, the Russians half that and the Egyptians half again.I don`t know if this is true but I would not be surprised.
To the hotel owners:Please read this review and appreciate it with the honesty in which it was written. The hotel is a goldmine waiting to happen, but it will not happen unless these points are taken on board and actioned. If you don`t believe us read all the other reviews!
Advice: Pick a good quality hotel that has been reccomended by friends and is located near to Naama Bay
Activities: Snorkelling in the Red Sea - out of this world

The staff were very pleasant and eager to help or get any thing you needed but we never tip any one till the day we left so it was not staff just doing anything for you for tips because they treated every one the same.
The manger of the restaurant said they have made a load of changes there for the better.
The only bug in our hoilday were the greedy Russians who piled there plates so high and then continued to pile another plate to take out with them and that was at every meal time.
I have written to the manager of the hotel to try and get them to stop this as we did see some staff stopping them from taking food out side but it was not enough staff around to put this into practise at every meal time.
But the hoilday was great and our room was lovely.
Am now on line to book again for Easter
Advice: lovely people
