My partner and her friend have recently returned from a disasterous holiday at this allegedly 5 star holiday complex. Their flight to Turkey was 3 hours late in taking off but when they arrived at the hotel they were told their room was not ready. They got the distinct impression they were not expected. They were told, not asked, to go and get something to eat in the hotel restaurant. The food was laid out buffet style but there were no signs in any language explaining what the dishes were.

(going to the restaurant proved to be a big mistake)

On their return to reception they were shown their room which was filthy and smelt damp and the towels they were expected to use would not have covered a 5 year old. A maid arrived 10 mins later to clean the rooms confirming their suspicion that it had not been prepared and they were 3 hours late in arriving!!!!

The next day they went to the welcome party to speak to the holiday rep. They had difficulty finding where the welcome party venue was because very few of the hotel staff could understand english and arrived a couple of mins late. They waited an hour and the rep finally appeared and in an offhand maner said she had been there and what was their problem. They filled in a complaint form about the state of the room and the rep said she would make sure the towels were changed.

On the second day of their holiday they both began suffering from very bad stomach pains and diarrhoea and spent the rest of the day on the toilet. On the third day they were feeling worse and asked some other Scots tourists to get medication for them.

On the forth day they saw the hotel Doctor and were sent immediately to a local hospital were they were both put on an intraveinus drip and medication for severe food poisoning. They were in hospital for a day and a half before being allowed to return to the hotel. Where they found their rooms ha not been cleaned since they left for hospital, hardly hygenic. For the rest of what was meant to be a relaxing and enjoyable holiday in 5 star accomodation enjoying the hotels spa facillities, they were extremely anxious about eating in the hotel restaurant where the food was always luke warm at best and they exhisted on mashed potatoes and plain pasta always trying to arrive as the restaurant was just opening.

This was not the holiday they expected, there was no supervision of children or adults in the restaurant of the hotel and they would happily handle food and put it back on the plate for other unsuspecting guests to eat. Meal times could best be described as a free for all. The hotel complex catered for mostly Russian and German guests.

Remember this was suposed to be a 5 star hotel and yet none of the staff spoke English, or so they said, they were not at all interested in guests from the U.K. and despite being asked for something with a please and thank you they would pretend not to understand. The area of Belek is mostly hotel complexes with hardly any bars outside the complex. The shops were overpriced and the staff were again bad mannered and not interested in tourists from the U.K.

For the first time in many visits to Turkey they found staff in shops who were surly, unwilling to 'haggle' and who adopted a buy at the inflated price or leave it, they left it.

We arrived at this hotel on 22nd August 2008 and our first impressions were good.

Hotel and rooms were clean, staff pleasant. but thats where it ended......

Night Entertainment was was very poor, hotel shops very expensive and then there was the bug from hell !!!!!

It all started with diarrhoea, stomach cramps, vomitting, and in the worse case fever...

This bug was apparentley ALREADY in the hotel when we arrived but we were not aware of this until at the end of our hoilday when the holiday Rep spoke to US!

Holiday to forget as we our still suffering now.

Ps.. If you have also suffered please contact Andrew Morton Pannone Solictiors Manchester 0800 0384384

Just returned from a 2 week holiday at the maritim pine beach resort (hotel side) and overall all facilities and the room were spotless at all times. The pool areas werent overcrowded and again kept very clean, the restaurants offered a very good choice with chicken/steak/donner kebabs to choose every night. Overall food was very good - the one thing i was worried about as this was our first holiday away from spain. The air con in the room is a relief as the temp hit low 50's during our stay. The waiters - mustafa cannot do enough to serve you and keep you happy. Little tip give them 10 Lira on your first day (about £5) and for the rest of your stay you will get priority over everyone - they will love you!!! The only downside to this hotel is the location and the unsupervised water park, as soon as you leave the hotel you are in the middle of nowhere about £6 to belek in a taxi or there is a tractor that leaves every 20 mins for about 70p each - great fun!!! The waterpark is small and boring after an hour for kids over about 6 yrs (mine child is 9 and 2 visits was enough) whilst we were there a english kid broke his jaw on the spacebowl slide - no supervision and kids run riot up and down the slides. Oh one more bad side the place is full of russians and i mean full. arrogant and rude think they own the place. During our 2 week stay we met a total of about 20 brits (in a resort that holds 700 people!!!). If youve booked to go here you will have a nice time we did but we wouldnt go back due to the location and lack of english people.

We went from the 4th to 18th of May with my wife and 2 year old. The Hotel didnt actually wake up until the second week. Some Bars and pool slides etc are not open until then so go after the middle of May. It was silly things like the beach towels not being available and bars not being open at pool side until then that spoiled it a bit, but only a bit.

This was after all a cheap holiday so please keep this in mind after all is said.

People: Fantastic....really friendly i was surprised as it always states these things in brouches etc but wow super people.

Food: Good variety chips chicken fish in fact you name it. Word of warning take pg tips with you as the tea it naff. Also no kettle in room so take a travel one.

No stomach bugs when we were there or heard off in fact from leaving guests.

Room: We faced some tennis courts and although we didnt see the sea from there it was peacful. Spacey and clean.

Thomas cook rep: Oh dear what were they thinking employing this women she didnt know one end of Turkey from the other and seemed to be there for the fellers.

Pools: Lost count 5 last count 10/10 for pools and slides etc.

Money: Take euros.

Flight: Flew by Eddie the Eagle. Bump crash bang. Oh yes and if you are over 4ft best of luck with leg room.

All in all a good holiday but be aware it is mostly based for Russians. The staff dont speak a lot of English. I think given everything i would go back to Turkey but maybe a hotel based more for English. I know what your thinking why go to another country etc but it does get you down when even the kids club staff cant speak to your kid in English. My son is bright but even he cant pick up Russian in 2 weeks.

Well as i said that was the negatives but thats it. So if you want sun and to chill out it worth every penny.

P.S a friend of mine went with to girls 11 and 13 and they loved the activities.

Overall the hotel was good, clean with friendly staff...However you need to know a few points.

The biggest complaint was with the tour operator, who were very slack. The plain was in poor condition with flights changed without us being notified. Info from the reps at the hotel was poor aswell.

In the hotel the food was average and i had a bad stomach all week. If you like fish or Chicken you will be ok for choice.

Despite having an indoor heated pool, this was not heated, and as cold as the one outside.

We also had a conference with 400 local doctors who took over for most of the holiday. Parts of the hotel were sectioned off for them for evening entertainment and we had none.

If you want to book a late checkout it will cost 10 euro per hour. Very expensive..

Also at this time of year the water slides were not open, even though advertised in the broucher.

Generally the hotel was good value for money, but these points did spoil it slightly.
