10 Ladies from Sidcup Booked a 5 day Ski break at the hotel Tirolerhof. The hotel staff were very helpful with booking us great rooms they organised a private transfer and lift passes. Food was excellent 5 courses. Breakfast buffet was great. They provide robes at a small cost. Only 10 minutes from city express lift. Where we stored our skii's. Pool and Spa facilites were great. Staff efficient, Bills correct and couldn't be more helpful. Village very close 1 min walk to bars clubs and shops (crazy Daisy's a favourite) 3 mins to lake zell. We all had a great time and highly reccomend this Hotel we would all come back...
Beautiful, fantastic, perfect!

We have just returned from a week at this hotel and it was absolutely fabulous. It was spotlessly clean, beautifully decorated with a lovely fire in reception, a fabulous bar area with comfy seating and super waiters, staff were very helpful and efficient, rooms were great and serviced perfectly every day. Downstairs there is a small pool and spa with four sauna/steam rooms and a relaxation area etc - yes the spa is a nude area but most people are modest with their towels! The food is beautiful - usually five courses each evening which you choose from a menu at breakfast time, served to your table by the friendly waitresses who all speak perfect english. Breakfast is a buffet of almost anything you could want. Wine, drinks and after-dinner coffee are not included in the package price, so we did rack up a bit of a bar bill (whats new?!). The hotel is five mins walk from the ski-bus to Kaprun and ten from the main lift, but we left our skis in the lockers at the top of the CityExpress lift station for 2 euros a time, which gave us the total luxury of not having to walk in ski boots - ahhh! I would say that this hotel would not be the best choice for big groups of single or young people, or those with small children - there were a few babies there and their parents seemed quite stressed about ruining the sophisticated atmosphere! But generally I would totally recommend this place as completely and utterly gorgous!
I Dare You to Not Want to Return!

Feel compelled to write this review having read the previous one from an obviously disgruntled customer. To anyone considering going to this Hotel please take note of the countless excellent comments on this and other review sites. Having just returned from our second visit to the Hotel Tirolerhof we cannot recommend it highly enough. From the moment we arrived to the minute we (regrettably) had to leave we were treated to a week of absolute luxury. Spotless rooms - towels and linen changed daily if you wish; friendly, approachable staff who make you feel that nothing is too much trouble; a relaxing, welcoming spa/swimming pool area that makes you feel a whole world away from the real one; a homely atmosphere in fantastic surroundings (comfortable elegant furnishings, log fire, flowers, candles - the list is endless) and finally the most fantastic food - finished off on the Friday evening with an Italian buffet consisting of what seemed like an endless list of dishes (several types of pasta, beef, lamb, veal, king prawns, salmon, lobster probably just about covers a tenth of what was available to help yourself to as many times as you wished). At this point also have to mention our waitress who served our table all week with a smile (Thank you Stephanie). Obviously each to his own, everyone is entitled to their opinion and that is what review sites are for, but I can't help wondering why the previous reviewer felt his stay was so awful but then made enquiries about returning with his children? Personally we have already booked to return next year so to anyone who decides to visit this Hotel in the 3rd week of January next year, we will see you there.
Good for couples- maybe not too welcoming for children!!

We stayed at the Tirolerhof in the second week of January 2006. We normally ski with our two girls but decided to spoil ourselves and go alone and spend on a luxury hotel. Initially the hotel lived up to expectations. We are seasoned travellers and have stayed in the best and the worst!! The reception and bar area is stunning and we were expected and welcomed in accordance with a hotel of this class. Our room was acceptable although not outstanding by any means and the view of a shop opposite from our balcony was disappointing to say the least. We arrived late on the first evening but were provided with soup and a cold buffet and the offer of icecream for dessert - sounds acceptable but again we were a little disgruntled when we realised we had paid for our evening meal on this evening which should have been a five course gourmet dinner( we had missed this by half an hour!) The food on the whole was exceptional although we both felt it deteriorated as the week progressed. The spa area is the real four star in this hotel it is really special and was rarely crowded when we were there althouth few guests observed the hygenic rules of no swimwear in area and again being picky I found this offensive and offputting as I had to use the sauna with guests wearing sweaty bathing suits due to their over cautious modesty. A couple of evening were spoilt by the attendance of 'the lost boys' - a group of english clowns in their forties who acted as if they were on an eighteen to thirty holiday revelling in their ability to drink as much as possible and 'pretend' they had success status. The hotel is a good ten minutes trek from the gondola to the slopes - ok for couples but families with young children would probably struggle to cart all the ski gear to the slopes. We left our's in lockers on the slopes but this isn't encouraged and the hotel does have an acceptable ski locker storage. We won't be returning to the Tirolerof - on our return we requested a price to return the following year with our children. The response we received convinced us this hotel prefers couples and preferably in the more mature years!! This is a four star hotel but not the best by any means. My final gripe would be that we used some of the complimentary toiletries but these were never refilled during our stay!! - We preferred our five star experience in Egypt which most people rate as a three star in any other country. To give you an idea of our travel experience between us we have been to China Japan Dubai Florida Spain Greece Kenya Maldives Carribean Australia France Holland Malta Portugal Switzerland Bulgaria Lapland Lombok Singapore etc so I think we have a fair cross section of experience of different cultures
Great Hotel

Have just returned from a week skiing. The hotel is very good indeed. We could not fault a thing about it. The breakfasts were fantastic- to set us up for a day skiing! The rooms were kept beutifully clean and were light and airy. The view from our room was not brilliant but we could just about see the lake! The staff were friendly and helpful and Stephanie. our restaurant table server was just lovely. There were so many lovely touches around the hotel - flowers beatifully arranged and the food in the dining room was always set out in an appealling fashion. Can`t see why it is not rated a five star. Could be because of the the internal lift system in that you needed to get two lifts or walk to the floor we were on to take account of what must be an extension to the original building - but once you got the hang of it is was not a problem! Really lovely hotel would highly recommend it.
Should be 5 star!

Just back from a week skiing in Zell am See, if your looking for a great value for money hotel then look no further. This is one of the best hotels you will ever stay in. 1. The staff are very friendly and efficient 2. The food in the resturant was a superb 5 course meal each night 3. The rooms were very cosy and clean 4. A great view of the lake from your balcony 5. Ideal location for the Citi Express Gondola 6. This is what you would imagine for an Austrian holiday in idylic surroundings
The Best Hotel!
from JR67
Just back from another wonderful 2 weeks at the Tirolerhof in Zell am See. Until 2002 we had never been to the same place twice, since then we have never been anywhere else for our main holiday, with 7 visits to date. Nothing I can say that hasn't been said already about this hotel. In response to the previous comments about the junior suites being dated -what they overheard was quite right, the rooms were refurbished last autumn and are now absolutely first class. In fact last week I stayed at the 5 star Turnberry resort in Scotland and the room could be described as shabby compared to the Tirolerhof. Only 19 weeks and 4 days till we go back for our Ski holiday! Zell is a fantastic place and I defy anyone to ever be bored in this area.
A little bit of luxury!

We arrived on Saturday 5th August raining! but the welcome we got warm and friendly the room was excellent and the food was to die for! My husband and myself are vegetarians and although they thought that vegetarians ate fish my husband doesnt they were very accomodating. All the courses were very good and the service was excellant. The dessert buffet one one evening was fantastic I almost wanted to take a photo it was unbelievable. The resort is a short distance away and very close to the lake, in fact a perfect location. I would definatly rate this hotel as a 5*, nothing was too much trouble I could not find fault with anything. When we were there the weather was not too good and they lit the large wood fire (see pictures on their site) we were all made to feel special the owners were always about and very friendly. One day the hotel arranged a visit to Grosglockner the glacier, we put our names down but they didnt have any other people put their names down, but they offered to take us themselves by taxi! how considerate is that! We have never been to a resort or hotel twice but we would definatly come back here again.
Superb Hotel

We were delighted on our choice of hotel for a weeks holiday in Zell am See, I couldn't fault with the hotel at all. The location is superb, it’s just away from the hustle and bustle of the centre of Zell, but only a short walk to the bars, restaurants, shops about 3 minutes to walk to the lake /swimming area / playground. It is a short walk to the bus station – you can get the bus here to the cable car station - saves walking up the steep hill! We booked a Deluxe Double and were pleased with the room; it had a separate seating area, with a Double sofa-bed. I have never stayed in a hotel before with just so much cupboard / drawer space- lots of hangers too. It had a separate Bathroom and toilet. The balcony overlooking the Schiterhorn was exceptionally large; with a small table and 2 chairs, with cushions. We were directly above the stream, which was pleasant to listen to whilst sitting having a drink. All the staff members we came across during our stay were always pleasant and polite. The staff in the restaurant were particularly good, very attentive and helpful. The food was always of a high standard, with lots of choice, we had a pudding buffet one evening and an Austrian specialty starter buffet another evening, both were excellent. It was nice to always sit at the same table. You made your choice for the evening meal at breakfast; anything you don’t like just say and they offered an alternative. Also on the table at breakfast there was always a daily sheet with weather, ideas for trips out, walks etc. Another good idea at Breakfast you signed for any drinks had the previous evening. The restaurant was very warm, but then we were there during the European heat wave. Reception staff were efficient, check in / check out was so quick. I asked for a non-feather pillow for my husband and they asked if we would like to replace all the pillows and duvets so he wouldn't be allergic. We also asked about train times to Krimml - the times were printed off and popped up to us within 10 minutes. (you can’t go all the way to Krimml on the Narrow gauge train, as parts of the track were washed away by floods – decided to go on the bus) The public areas in the hotel were lovely; the reception area has free internet access. Lots of Comfy chairs in the bar / reception area. We found a couple of nice outside seating areas with comfy chairs - one on the third floor - roof top - with sofas, sun loungers and a lovely day bed and views of the lake. Also one on the second floor, under cover - great for watching the thunder storm at night. The wellness area in the basement is superb, it was never very busy, even during the one wet afternoon we had whilst we were there. The swimming pool / Jacuzzi hardly ever had anyone in. There is a basket in the bedroom for the towels – for you to take down with you. We went into the square on Wednesday night - lots of people out drinking and socialising - it was jammed packed. We had one drink in the town and were delighted to be returning from all the noise to the hotel bar for a nightcap.
Best Hotel We Have Ever Stayed In

We just loved this hotel from the moment we walked though the door, staff were so friendly and helpful.. When we were shown our deluxe room I was speechless it was just beautiful. Lots of space to store our clothes, bathroom was big and airy. Meals were lovely, staff so helpful, loved the information sheet we received every morning. Leisure area was great and everything was so clean. Only a few mintues walk to the lake or centre. Loved the bike hire. Just wished we had been able to stay longer, hope to be back next year for full 2 weeks. Recommend this hotel to anyone. Great time.
Had our honeymoon here after a December Wedding and spent two weeks being totally spoilt. The food was exceptional, the service and standards were A* and nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff. We had the most fabulous suite with flowers and a bottle of bubbly... more
