Royal Atlas- Amazing Hotel
from Kelly-Marie87
My Partner and I were very worried about going to this hotel. But the Hotel was amazing, very well decorated and posh. The location of the hotel is excellent, it is right on th beach and can walk around the town of Agadir easily. The food is the only thing that lets this hotel down, both myself and my Partner were ill so steered clear of most food and ate the all inclusive chips and bugers at the pool bar! The staff were brilliant and extremely helpful. This hotel will live up to its 5*'s by the summer next year, it is still having teething problems. Nevertheless we had a wonderful time in the sun!
Unsure what to expect after reading reviews

We were a little worried to say the least. We read about sickness in the Hotel, not being able to get drinks in the all inclusive bars and non friendly staff. Yes the Hotel is new and yes there are a couple of problems but only minor. The food was superb and the puddings were to die for. We had no problem getting drinks. The Hotel itself was finished to a very high spec with modern pictures and furnishings. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. We had a wonderful time.

my husband and i have just returned from a glorious week in this hotel. After reading some good and bad reviews we didnt know what to expect. We thought the hotel was fab. Couldnt fault the food it was superb and plenty of it. Tip- wait to be seated in the main restaurant then order drinks from waiter who seated you. The italian restaurant was superb we highly recommend a visit but dont bother with the moroccan as its not very appetizing. The all inclusive package is a bargain and dont be alarmed when they ask you to sign for food and drinks you wont get charged. Most of the staff seem to know you are AI and even remember your room number after a day! Tip- I wouldnt recommend this hotel for people who like british food as its mainly local dishes but there is a mcdonalds next door ! Pool bar has burgers, chips hotdogs and sanwiches 3 till 6 but couldnt manage any as we stuffed ourselves at lunch time in the restaurant ! Rooms were spacious and cleaned every day with flowers on our pillow and big fluffy bath robes. All in all a perfect week and amazing holiday. would i go back ? In a heartbeat , cant wait !
Don't believe the bad reviews.

I booked this holiday back in January when there were still virtual photos on the First Choice website. As the time to go drew nearer we were very apprehensive after reading very, very mixed reviews. However I can honestly say that we were very pleasantly surprised. Yes I do think that some things have been shoddily finished but that seems to be because the hotel was rushing to open in time. I am sure that all the little "snags" will get sorted. Our rooms were very spacious and very comfortable. The staff were helpful, maybe a little slower than in England but I find that in most hot countries. Both food and drink were plentiful and with a wide selection. There is generally food for all tastes, even my very, very picky 15 year old. She certainly did not go hungry. Whenever you want a drink you either go to the bar and order and the waiter will bring the drinks over or a waiter will come to you, usually pretty quickly. All in all we had a good week . I think that the hotel and staff are still in the learning stages and that given another 2 or 3 months the hotel will really be worthy of its 5 stars. We would definitely stay there again.
one of the best hotels we've stayed in!

After reading the early reviews I was dubious about going but I am pleased to say it couldn't have been more wrong. The hotel itself is lovely and clean and though there is still minor work going on it never affected our holiday. The rooms are huge with big bathrooms and a separate toilet. The pool area is lovely with plenty of free sunbeds and the beach is just a short walk across the promenade. There wasn't a vast choice of food but you could always find something to eat. We ate at the Moroccan and the Italian restaurant. Both were nice but the Moroccan offered more ambience. There were things for children to do and activities on offer. I would recommend this hotel and would go back next year although I think they price may have doubled by then!
Great Hotel

me and me miss just get back from the royal atlas/agadir. well, we were a little bit afraid of the hotel because of the reviews here. let me tell you that the hotel surpirised us. and not in a bad way. the hotel itslef: excellent. my kind of place. mixture of traditional arabic and contemporary arthitecture. beautiful and well treated garden. just a few steps to reach the ocean. the room: we had a first floor room with garden view. a/c, safe, clean towels everyday. overall really clean. the service: the restaurant staff (both inside and outside) was extremely nice and helpful. i can't judge the animation staff because we had nothing to do with them. the food: a lot! fresh vegetables, salads, cheese, home made bakery and a lot of other things. i've been in many really good hotels, but this amount of food really impressed me. some said that they had stomach bugs or worse. well, maybe we were extremely lucky, but we did not have any kind of problems (or our hungarian stomach is strong enough to take that food. :)) btw, we were curiousely watching what other guest had for breakfast/dinner. well, finally we did not really understand how could anyone get any kind of "bugs" if they are eating the same food like they do in the good old continent (or wherever)... and yes, the promenade is still unfinished and there were some construction works, but it did not bothered us at all (not too much noise and dirt). conclusion: we had a really great time over there. absolutely recommended hotel (at least by us). sorry for my grammar mistakes, but i am far away to be fluent in english.
Fantastic!!!!

I have just got back from a weeks holiday in Agadir staying at the Royal Atlas Hotel, and i have to say it was fantastic, the service, the food, the location everything. I went with my partner and we were quite worried after reading some of the reviews from people who had stayed there during Aug, we had nothing to worry about, we were NOT disturbed by any workmen, the pools were clean. the food was AMAZING with salads pastas for starters everything you could imagine, main courses lamb, beef, chicken, fish, pastas, potatoes, rice, vegetable, fresh baked bread, and at least a selection of 10 sweets easy from gateaux, to a mousse. The staff bent over backwards to help you in anyway, they were polite and friendly. The only thing i can say negative really is the night entertainment, which we found very boring and as we had gone all inc we didnt really want to be venturing out, and the wait between drinks stopped us from getting too merry, but other than that brilliant. The rooms were gorgeous very spacious & very clean would definately consider going again!!!
Great hotel - but !!

Hotel Truly stunning with spacious guest rooms which have plenty of storage and many or even most with a sea view, our room, 232 had both sea and pool view and we didn't pay for an upgrade, comfortable and luxurious public areas, though the "Lounge bar is not included in the All Inclusive, the internet room is free access and on the bottom floor is an enormous Ballroom which would seat I would guess around 500, we went one night to watch a magician there were 6 of us there, I joked he's a good magician he made the audience disappear, also on that floor is the spa and gym which I didn't use but it looked well equipped, the swimming pools are good and there are plenty of sunbeds, the hotel is right on the beach which is a real beach with soft sand not something off the back of a lorry, and building work on the promenade is no trouble at all unless you're very picky. I've been to all inclusive resorts in Egypt, Turkey and the Caribbean all of which were in the middle of nowhere and you needed a bus or taxi to go out, it's good that this one is actually in Agadir so anywhere you want to go you can walk if you wish Food Breakfast is good but more tailored for the French as the continental display is impressive but the selection of cooked food seems to be a token offering although there are chefs on hand to cook eggs to your liking, bread for toasting is not always easy to come by as they only appear to bring out one uncut loaf at a time which gets quickly used. Lunch and dinner are buffet style with again a very impressive salad and cold foods display, we even noticed sushi, the hot food is a little more disappointing and can get a bit samey after 2 weeks, there are usually chefs doing "show" cooking but in my opinion chefs carving a roast style joint of meat instead would be an improvement, desserts are very good the chocolate mousse is to die for and there's a very good selection. The Italian and Moroccan restaurants are well worth a visit we did the Italian twice and the Moroccan once in our stay I preferred the Italian but that's just down to my taste, you couldn't fault the food in either though service was a bit slow in the Moroccan when we went. Snacks around the pool (3pm-6pm) are tasty and though we only went a handful of times always enjoyed them. The Stone bar was a good place for a drink before and after dinner but it's surprising how quickly we've got used to there being no smoking indoors in the UK and how when you go somewhere like this the smell of smoke is not very nice, I thought there should have been a total ban on smoking in the dining room and at the risk of upsetting some people I think it's very ignorant to smoke when people near you are eating, but there wasn't so you could find yourself on the next table to a heavy smoker, the waiters did try to separate smokers from non smokers but it didn't always work Service This it seems to be agreed has a little way to go my observations were, it was sometimes difficult to get a second cup of coffee for breakfast and likewise a second glass of beer at lunch or dinner, if you choose wine though you do get half a bottle each at lunch and dinner, it seemed the staff needed a bit more direction from management as to their specific roles, in the dining room particularly. Around the pool waiter service was OK but intermittent and I always preferred to go and fetch my own drinks anyway, one waiter we spoke to said he didn't like working there but whether they struggled to recruit quality staff, opening as they did in the middle of high season I don't know. Rooms were kept spotlessly clean. Agadir and Morocco Agadir seems to be re-inventing itself, around the marina are lots of new apartments with more being built and a lot of retail outlets within them as yet mostly unfilled, along the existing promenade old seems to be making way for new and when the new promenade is finished I'm sure it will be fantastic, new hotels are being built as well as lots of new apartments further out and some industry is being relocated away from Agadir to make more room for tourism, the souk is worth a look only 20dh (about £1.30) each way in a taxi but once is probably enough, the little road train from just outside the hotel is only 18dh for a 30-40 minute ride around Agadir, worth it to get your bearings if you want to walk anywhere. We did the 2 day excursion to Marrakech quite expensive at 1500dh (£95) but I wanted to see it and I'm glad we didn't take the cheaper 1 day trip as its a 4 hour coach journey each way, on the 2 day trip the second day is out to Essouira, a really nice seaside town for a few hours, we even found the local market street where we seemed to be the only westerners, then back down the Atlantic coast to Agadir around tea time. Marrakech is very busy and you have to endure the carpet sale and apothecary sale also during your day there, though the square a dusk is very atmospheric, the overnight hotel (Hotel Oudaya) is fairly basic but clean and comfortable. I enjoyed my holiday and didn't suffer any stomach complaints though my wife did intermittently throughout our 2 week stay, as did someone in nearly every couple or group we spoke to, so it must have been about 1 in 3, I would guess it was some sort of bug rather than the food but that's just a guess, having been to Egypt and the Red Sea a few times over the past 5 years if I chose to go back to North Africa then I'd choose Egypt over Morocco every time, while we were there probably half the time was spent under low cloud or heavy mist, I don't know if that's typical for Agadir in late September but it certainly took the edge off our holiday, I think Agadir is very much a case of "work in progress" and being closer to the UK and cheaper than the Canaries, with a similar climate, I do believe it will be a major resort in a few years time. Condensing a 2 week holiday into a few paragraphs there's bound to be some detail that people may want me to elaborate on so if anyone has any questions contact me , I'll answer them if I can.
Gorgeous!!

I was so worried when I looked on trip advisor before going but this is truly the most beautiful hotel I have ever stayed in. The room was huge with a lovely view and a big balcony, the maids came in every day and it was always clean. It has a lovely internet room which is completely free to guests. The food was amazing, I am vegetarian and usually have trouble with buffets but I was well fed at every meal. I did get a stomach bug but this is something to be expected with foreign travel and change in temperature, etc (I will be a qualified pharmacist at the end of the year and trust me, it has nothing to do with the hotel's food!!). I found the staff to be exceptionally friendly and helpful. I did notice some people clicking their fingers and expecting immediate service. It is worth remembering that Morocco has strict morals embedded in its culture and a little politeness goes a long way, i.e. complaining that there is no bacon at breakfast time is not going to get you very far considering it is a Muslim country! I think a lot of the issues people have had with this hotel are due to a lack of respect for the staff and their culture at the hotel. Whenever I ordered a drink I smiled and was friendly. I never had to wait long. Others who demanded and were not patient about the language barrier had to wait longer. No coincidence!! If you are going to visit a country like morocco it is important to make sure you understand the culture before you start complaining about it, it's not a fast food nation like US or UK!!
DONT EXPECT MUCH !

I took my wife and my parents to this hotel on first impresions it looks great but looks are very decieving ! the choice of food for breakfast was very limited if you wanted something hot or should i say luke warm. what i mean by this is that every meal was luke warm or cold by the time you sat down to eat it the service was fiendly but extreemly slow at dinner we would order our wine and would be lucky to get it by the time we finished dessert the chice of food never catered for english taste at all, and i dont mean plane and boring. If you wanted a drink after dinner there was only one all inc bar where you was not allowed to go to the bar it was waiter service it sounds like agood thing only you can wait up to 45 min to get severd so be paitient The pool, im no wimp but it was freezing and while we were there they have errected new signs NO BALLS,NO INFLATABLES,NO DIVING( NO FUN.) no entertainment during the day and a piano at night, if youve booked im sorry if you havent DONT its no fun bad belly !
