having been home 2 weeks from was meant to be a relaxing get away from work and stress i went with a work friend to the royal atlas leaving husbands at home for a break well we couldnt wait to get home not only were staff very miserable and tipping didnt make any difference in there mood they werent interested in helping in any way unless we were french and you had top service if you were. Cant fault the hotel it was lovely and clean and the food wasnt bad at all and im a fussy eater the rep Paul King was amazing and was there every day to help and guide us we only ventured out twice as was a bit wary after the welcome meeting about going out on our own but as we were advised to cover up shoulders and knees and wear sunglasses as so not to give eye contact we did as we were told only to be sexually attacked on our last night not pleasent at all and not a place for women to go alone take your husbands with you and there wont be a prob we are ladies in our mid to late 40s not looking for anything else but a rest and sunshine have travelled a lot and never ever experienced anything like this anywhere also entertainment poor very repetative and all inclusive shut down dead on 11 lights went out ashtrays removed it was bed time from then onwards

Went to the royal atlas for our honeymoon and loved everything about the hotel, friendly staff who were attentive, efficient and respectful.A little tip to the staff went along way and is something i would recommend even as little as 20p was appreciated. Location was excellent private beach too which was a stones throw away. Food was of good quality. Three restaurants one buffet one italian which was magnificent and a morrocan with some tasty entertainment too. Thoroughly enjoyed and would return one day.

Royal Atlas BRILLIANT

WOW this was a brilliant holiday the best i've ever had.We were a party of 3 women and we had no problems. The Royal Atlas was so grand I felt like a lottery winner. The staff were ALL nice, polite and friendly from cleaners, waiters, bar-staff,entertainment staff, pool boys, doormen just everyone. The Thomson rep was fantastic always on hand even on his days off, if you needed him and he wasn't at the hotel he was only a text away.We had no complaints about food even if you are a fussy eater there was plenty of choice no reason to be hungry at all.We had no problems with anything the service in the restaraunts and bars was great. It was a very relaxing holiday and I am looking at booking up and going back in the summer this year.We went for walks along the promenade several times very clean and lovely beach proper sand.We also went to The Factory nightclub which was just down the road that was a good evening. All in all a brilliant holiday highly recommended.Don't take my word try it for yourself.

  • Advice: Im going back,it was that good. Don't take my word for it give it a try

Absolutely Loved the Royal Atlas!

Just returned from a week at the Royal Atlas Hotel with my partner and we loved it! We are 30 and 26 years old and went for a week to relax and unwind after Xmas.
Hotel - Fabulous! Very clean - room service everyday! Yes, the mini bar is expensive but they aren't forcing you to use it!!! We liked that we could use the fridge for our own drinks... free robes in the rooms and towels by the pool. Cleaner was lovely.
Food - absolutely gorgeous!! I really don't know why everyone complains!! We saw a number of people being very rude to staff which is probably why they are rude in return! We were always cheerful and polite to staff and we received superb service - that was without tipping them too! We tipped at the end of the week.
Yes, some of the staff do not speak brilliant English, but I do not understand how this makes them rude?? Is it not the English who are rude and expect that no matter which country they go to that every should speak their language?! get a grip!
Complaints re seagulls in the pool and sparrows in the restaurant - there were a few seagulls in the pool but we witnessed the staff scaring them away all day and fail to see how they can do anymore... what harm do a few birds do? We saw one sparrow in the Restraunt - the bird did not harm and again I fail to see how the staff
can do anything about this??
Entertainment, I thought, was very good. We wanted a relaxing chilled out week and the music suited us. We were only there for a week and they had a singer every night, dancers on 3 nights and an african bongo group which we loved!
Overall - a fab hotel, would recommend anyone to ignore the bad reviews and give it a try!! I honestly can't see what there is to complain about apart from snobby, complaining guests!!!

We went with our 2 sons for 2 weeks & had a great time. Hotel in very clean, staff were very polite. We did tip as we have travelled alot & appreciate that tipping is the norm & we don't see that as a problem at all. As a result we were never short of drinks at anytime, Mehdi put towels down on 'our' sun loungers every morning which was much appreciated as the spot we picked was great for keeping an eye on the boys when they were either in the pool, at the pool bar or heading to the toilets. The Moroccan peple were just fab & we never felt threatened at all. If you want a relaxing pool side/ beach holiday then this is for you. We would return in a minute without a doubt. If you go remenber they have a completely different outlook on the pace of life & if you try & rush them they will slow down further !!!!!! Ha ha just the right attitude for some stroppy Brits I say.

Having visited many countrys far and wide bed and breakfast 3 star 4 and 5 i must say that this hotel should not be in the calibure of 4-5 star.Hotel its self very clean room was very nice.
Service from the staff was appaling very rude and service not very good in the restaurants lunch and evening time.My partner was in bed for 2 days with an upset stomach even imodium did not work.
Rep Paul very informative and 2 trips booked which were very good.
love to visit countries and take on board the slower pace of life etc but this hotel was one of the worst I have ever stayed in which should be -5 star.

I agree with previous review in that if you are a full English and Chips with everything forget it - go back to Spain.
The hotel is very much a five star in its look - the only thing that knocks off a star for me is the service. On saying that this is Morocco and not The Ritz. The best advice we had was from the rep on the first day - if you go with the laid back pace its great if you push aaginast this and expect everything quickly you will hate it.
Hats off to the Reps Paul and Hassan are the two best reps I have ever had the pleasure to meeet and can not do enough for you.
We met loads of Brits who, no doubt write on here that the place is awfull, guess what they seem to have taken a break from usual Lanzagrotty as the Euro did not give them enough spending power to buy their full English and yes they had on the usual football shirts and insulted every waiter they could.
The hotel itself is spotless, the service though not the quickest is always with a smile and the staff are very friendly. Morocco is very welcoming and feels very safe.
Overall I would say leave your footy shirt at home forget the fish and chips and look for a true holiday experience at a lovely hotel.

  • Advice: Lovely place - though due to it being rebuilt not very Arabic.

my friend and I went to this hotel and region not really knowing what to expect, it did however exceed our expectations. Beautiful hotel, very moroccian- long low sofas, drapes etc and very subdued lighting. The bedrooms were also very nice roomy and clean. The pool area and beach were fab with lots of sunbeds and parasols the pool attendant mehdi was very attentive and made a big effort to welcome everyone and chat, he was a great source of local knowledge. The only thing we could find fault with was the lack of organisation in the restaurant. The food was very good and plentiful especially the desserts, however you did get frustrated at times with things missing and having to wait for items to be topped up. The restaurant staff were very helpful and friendly. The moroccian and italian were well worth a visit especially if you want a long relaxed evening. This is not the hotel for you if you want lots to drink and lots of entertainment. To top the chilled relaxed feeling we had a massage and manicure on our last day - quite an experiance not for the shy and retiring!!! We treat ourselves to a massage monthly at home although we have never had one like this! well worth a try.
Go and enjoy yourselves, ladies take a wrap or cardigan or you will feel uncomfortable when walking the prom in the evening when all the local families are out. You wont be harrassed and we felt totally safe.

  • Advice: try the hubba bubba pipe
  • Activities: the petit train and the marina.

Fantastic holiday!

first of all don't listen to all the people complaining, fair enough each to there own, but if you like your full english, being surrounded by patriotic english and are not open minded to culture you may aswell go to magaluf or benidorm!!
It was a fantastic holiday, one of the best! The hotel was fantastic, food was nice (be open minded people its morrocan food not english!)its a buffet and food was topped up if not ask them and it'll be done quickly when run out. Some people moaned the food was cold but lunch for example, started at 1 people were getting there at 3/3.30 and if you leave food on a hot plate for 2 or 3 hours of course its not going to be steaming hot! they have a cold food counter too but alot of cous cous, rice, fish, chicken and tasty deserts chocolate cake and fruit tartlets are the best. The hotel staff were friendly and the service was good not slow! how quick do you want them to be! they are not slaves. We did a day tip to marrakech which was excellent, but do take toilet paper, spare change and sanitising hand gel luckily we took all three! also we did the 4x4 atlas mountain trip also really excellent! All in all a really good holiday and we will be returning!

Worst service ever

Jul 2009, ElizabethD

The staff are useless, they hate you unless you are french. Tipping didn't make any difference. All inclusive is not all inclusive. Sit in the bar all evening and you will be lucky to get three drinks. At dinner, first drink (if it arrives) is free, the next will cost you. Staff are rude, no eye contact, no rappor, food is not very good. anything on the buffet worth eating runs out after 5 minutes and is never replenished. Ice cream is not included in AI. My opinion is don't waste your money
