This brand new hotel is in a fantastic location along the golden beach. With a wide range of facilities and fully-equipped spa centre, this is a wonderful all-inclusive option. Just moments from the beach, where a variety of watersports are available. The centre of Agadir with its souks and shops is only 10 minutes away.

This hotel is a joke. We stayed in a room overlooking the beach on the ground floor. We had a lovely view of a mechanical digger and lorry to look forward to at 8 o'clock every morning. There was no safe in our room, when I asked for one they said they would move our room. After three attempts to do this, the Manager was always elusive. I gave up and carried my valuables around with me, until my neighbours took pity on me and put them in their safe until we returned home.

The air conditioning didn't work when we arrived and took one whole afternoon to fix. Our lights kept going off. I returned to the hotel at 3.30am to no lights, at reception they asked if we could manage until the morning how do you undress and wash in a strange room in the dark?

No signs for fire exits and no stickers on patio door windows as I found out to my cost as I walked into a closed window. Reception staff couldn't speak any english. Staff all running around like headless chickens.

When food all gone it was not replaced.

The hotel is fantastic, the staff friendly, the setting great, the pool perfect, and the room best ever.

The Stonebar, Pool bar, Italian restaurant and the Moroccan restaurant were also perfect.

The only area which lets it down is the very poor standard of food preparation for western tourists in the buffet style restaurant. The food is only luke warm. The tea and coffee is also only luke warm. The tables are not cleared quickly enough leaving people looking for places to sit.

Because of these poor standards this is what I believe led to the very high percentage of stomach upsets that were reported during our stay. There for I would not rate this hotel more than 3 star.

This hotel & spa is fantastic, it is in a good location and very nice. There is work still being carried out on the promenade but does not affect your holiday at all.

The staff are very friendly and will try and bend over backwards to help you. The service can be slow sometimes but the hotel is new and is experiencing teething problems. What I will say is be patient with the service, relax, and enjoy your stay.

The food wasn't want we expected. Moroccans are big meat eaters and there is not much choice for vegetarians. We lived on bread & salad for the majority of our stay but we never went hungry.

Currency is not a problem as soon as you go to Reception and ask for Sterling to be changed into Dirham’s, they do it for you immediately. It is wise to get a receipt for this as if you have a lot of Dirham’s left at the end of your stay, you will need this for the Dirham’s to be changed back into Sterling either at the hotel or airport.

I do recommend the 2 day trip to Marrakech - worth going as it is in complete contrast to Agadir. The 4x4 Adventure is also very good. We did the City Tour via First Choice but I suggest that if you want to do this, that you do it of your own accord as the trip only consisted of a visit to the top of the Kasbah and to the Souk. It will only cost you a £1 or so in the taxi to the Souk which is worth seeing and may be a little more to go to the Kasbah but you have good views from there.

My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the Royal Atlas Hotel in Agadir and I thoroughly recommend it.

Hi. Have just returned from The Royal Atlas Hotel, Agadir w/c 31.8.07 Like many I was a little unsure of what to expect as there was a lack of information regarding the Hotel. I was pleasantly surprised.

I feel I received excellent value for money from First Choice. The Hotel is in a prime location- on the beach, clean, friendly, and plush. Pools complementing all ages. Sun beds available without having to rush down at 6am to fight for a space.

Piano Bar low key, entertainment on hand probably not to every ones taste, no booming disco - yet. Not too much to do outside of Hotel though, but ok for daily walks, shops, bars etc.

Spa and Gym excellent at extra cost.

The Reps on hand were really helpful, and they were not the pushy salesman types that usually go with these packages. Thought they actually got rather bad treatment sometimes by fellow holiday makers moaning that the Waiters were too slow with their drinks , but oh well.

Found myself that if you were courteous and gave the waiters a small tip, you did not have trouble with service. 20 - 30p tip not too much really. The guys work long hours for little pay. I know it’s an all inclusive deal, but the little tips helped.

Restaurants catered for all tastes, but if you just want burgers and chips they do not do that in the Restaurants. However, Pool bar does- if you like that sort of thing. Italian and Moroccan Restaurant on site also very nice and available to go to as part of your package.

Went to Marrakech - exhausting but worthwhile, very different from Agadir.

Had a great week here. Just thought some of the other holiday makers moaned too much. Probably not 5 star yet - but in a little time will get there.

2 weeks 24 Aug. to 7 Sept. Glorious weather. Royal Atlas excellent in all respects, bearing in mind it only opened end of July. All staff very friendly, eager to please.

Although I wonder if it will be the same once time has passed and they see that "All Inclusive" guests may not feel the need to "Tip"! Hotel has its own private beach section, first class.

The pools are lovely and designed with children in mind. Meals are varied well presented and there is always plenty.

Rooms, spacious modern and fresh towels daily. Now for a few points. The hotel will not accept any English currency notes for exchange with scribble or markings, apparently Moroccan bank ruling.

There is a new promenade immediately in front of the hotel under construction, some noise but not intrusive some heavy plant vehicles trundling along all very slow and I would not like to guess when these 500 metres of promenade will be finished!

One can cross from hotel to beach over the hard core no problem. For some unexplained reason there was no ice cream available in either the pool area (for the kids) nor in the restaurants!

Security Guards were located at all entrances and no sellers were allowed in the hotel section of the beach. To summarise, if you are contemplating a holiday at the Royal Atlas you will not be disappointed if you go.

I have now been to the Royal Atlas hotel and can honestly say I was disappointed, when we arrived in the hotel we got shipped into a room where we had to fill out some form before getting our key, we then had to go off to show the porter which suitcases were ours so he could take them to our room, we had to go off in search of our room ourselves!

The room it's self was lovely, very clean and tidy, but to our amazement we walked out onto what was supposed to be the balcony area to find a small table and 2 chairs a step down onto what I can only describe as a large concrete area with a tall wall, overlooking buildings, if that wasn't bad enough as we had specified a pool/sea view and a higher up room we then discovered our balcony we were sharing with the people next door!

This was then made worse by the fact the sliding door between the rooms and "patio" didn't lock!

We complained about this to the manager who replied he promises to move us in 2 days as the hotel is full and they are not able to move us until then! Which when we went back on the time we were asked to to change rooms we were messed about asking us to come back in 30mins then an hour then another hour, we wasted 3 and a half hours on changing rooms!

2 other couples we met whilst there also asked to change rooms and the first choice rep stated to us that there were many rooms that the lock didn't work on.

The building work that everyone seems to be talking about on here and someone stated wasn't a problem, well things must have changed since that person was there, as if you sit right at the back of the hotel as near to the beach as you can (this is the best place to catch the sun) there are diggers and lorry's driving about, not a relaxing atmosphere and where he tips the soil onto the ground it covers you, your hair and clothes! Not a good look.

And if you are all inclusive expect the bar to run out of things as they did with us!

Italian restaurant, well please just don't bother! Honestly you won't be missing out on anything.

The staff in the hotel are lovely, just very very very laid back, and the hotel is gorgeous but you need to be prepared for a bit of a disappointment.

A bit disappointing over all.

My partner and I were there from 29/08/07 - 05/09/07 and both got food poisoning on day 3, and it is still lingering over a week later!! (We left last Wednesday). So that put a damper on the holiday as we couldn't do a lot of what we had planned like a day trip to Marrakech.

Other than that, the hotel is gorgeous, very well cleaned and maintained. But the standard of service is inconsistent, though you have to expect some teething problems with a new hotel.

We had the problem that on arrival we had no A/C and had to call down twice before anyone came, then our water was cut off and despite 2 or 3 phone calls no one came, but the water came back on after a few hours.

They also said that they serve a late dinner from 10-11.30pm but when we once went to get it (when we eventually felt well enough to eat again) we were told that they didn't do it and were sent to every restaurant in the hotel only to be told the same thing.

Reception said that they would call us back to let us know what had happened and never did. Even after I went to reception to speak to them (always being very polite, never sounding annoyed or raising my voice) in the morning they said that they would get customer relations to call and didn't. It basically just seemed like they'd say anything to get you off their backs.

The service in the restaurants is generally very good and the staff are friendly, but sometimes you may have to sit at a table that's not been completely set up and hunt for a knife or two. The presentation of the food is amazing, just a shame it likes to make you ill!!

No irons are provided in the rooms or from housekeeping, you are expected to send your ironing to them to do, but after shelling out a lot of money for our accommodation we decided to buy a cheap iron and do it all ourselves. So bring a travel iron with you!

With regards to the building work, there is some work going on behind the hotel on the footpath between the hotel and the beach (the promenade) but you barely notice the work other than the odd noisy truck going past.

In general, it was a pleasant holiday, but it certainly wasn't the 5* holiday we paid for and we are writing a formal letter to First Choice.

As a family of 5 – 2 adults, 2 teenagers and 1 infant.

Visiting the Hotel Royal Atlas this summer was wonderful. As we arrived by very welcoming staff we was astonished by the stunning and very attractive atmosphere.

The food was lovely and had a very wide range of different varieties to choose from, the only let down with the food was that ice cream was not served day or night!

The hotel was very clean and the rooms were to a very high maintenance standard, and the maids did their job very well. The only let down was that the service was slow at meal times for example serving drinks.

But overall staying at the Royal Atlas Hotel was definitely money well spent and was the highlight of our summer. We would definitely recommend this hotel to anybody that is thinking about going to Agadir and I’m sure that the service will improve when the staff get more experience as all the staff are new.

The Internet room 'cyber space' was a thumbs up especially for the teenagers!

Finally I would definitely say the hotel is a 5 star and I’m sure, actually positive, you will enjoy it!

Just got back from Royal Atlas. Few teething problems, nothing which was not being dealt with, new hotel just opened bound to have a few hiccups.

Staff lovely hotel lovely, new staff just learning, a bit slow at first, but who gets everything right first go. Holiday could have been ruined by a few moaners who spent their whole holiday moaning and trying to stir everyone up.

We had a great holiday met some really nice people, who wants to moan? Brand new hotel, new beds, new towels, new everything, Spa is open now, Gym’s open pools are lovely.

Photos don’t do justice it is a wonderful Hotel. Go and enjoy.
