If you stay in the Annex where most brits are automatically placed, make sure you book/pay for a balcony. You will need the extra room.
We booked this on a last minute deal and the value for money was great.
However had wwe book in advance and paid the full price. We would have been most upset.
Beds are made up along with the room and clean towels, each day. However our bed linen was not changed the whole week and the towels are hard thin and ruff-take your own.
The staff are lovely and keep the place spotless, but they are not Austrian! Wish I could say the same about the owner and his wife. We never had cause for any words with them, but witnessed a few that did and they are not out to give good customer service-You like it or lump it. Very rude and uncaring.
Breakfast was typical continental, but plentiful, get down early when everything is still fresh, Be a wear of the boiled eggs, our was served up uncooked one morning.
The Pool and Sauna are small but come into their own after a day walking in the mountains-The Sauna was still out of action just like last year.
Also note that bad reviews for this hotel do not stay on line for long! so read them quick.
Mayrhofen is good with a great selection of places to eat out, we went on a few trips and I would suggest avoiding the lake Garda trip as its over a four hour journey each way(no hold ups) despite the reps telling you two hours.
For film fans, please note you cannot do the Sound of Music tour from Mayrhofen as there is no way you can get into Salzburg in time to do the tour.Unless you hire a car. As one lady and her daughter found out-Sadly they had booked this deal purely to go on that outing-Very sad.

The hotel was rated a 3 star by crystal. Its a glorified bed and breakfast at the very limit of the town of Mayrhofen. Although the breakfast is nice (tho slow) (and beware for the first 3 days you can wait 30-40 minutes if you like your eggs hard boiled, or if you require boiled water for a baby's bottle). I wrote to Crystal 3 weeks in advance and advsied of my wheat allergy and my sons requirement for goats milk. I was told they couldn't accomodate this and I was to bring my own food. No goats milk even for my small son. I had read poor reviews about the annex and this was confirmed by my friends, rooms all very small, and either cold or too hot. After much persistance and some luck, I got into the main hotel, but even there the room was small, though that didn't matter too much to my son and I. There was a smell of sulphur or worse every time I turned on the tap in the sink or flushed the loo. the towels were very very old... and took a layer of skin off. Its location for skiing is poor relative to practically anything else with a mayrhofen address. I cannot see why it is called a hotel, there is no bar, no drink or food service after breakfast, no soap, no kettles. The hostess may well be well meaning, but you wouldn't catch a smile or personal greeting. We paid 838 for this holiday (including large group discount) and it was a complete rip off. My Sister independently another hotel for about 100 euros more, up the road, in the middle of Mayrhofen, and it was 5 times the size, great value. If I had paid 438 it would have fit the offering delivered by the obermair. I was told by a fellow skier that from the UK the Obermair was available for less than 400 if this is true then fine! .

If you book the Annexe be prepaired for tiny, cold rooms. The en-suite is dated with the added bonus of being able to hear next door using shower, loo etc. If you can hear them then they can hear you. I thought this was going to be 3* accomodation, however it is a Pension, basic would be an understatement. There are no hairdryers in the room. The only english channel on the portable TV, suspended to give you neck ache and becaused there's no room to put it, is CNN. The wardrobe didn't lock and you had to stand on the bed to open the window. On the plus side the staff were pleasant, rooms were clean, plenty of hot water and breakfast was good.
I wouldn't stay here again and wouldn't recommend it unless you were getting a very cheap deal and didn't want to spend any time in the room at all.
The snow was excellent and I would advise getting to the lifts before 0900 to avoid all the pushing that goes on. Board school great and minimal drags. Good night life and good food to be had. Would return to Mayrhofen.

Me and my boyfriend are staying at the hotel at the moment and i am online to see if i can find somewhere else to stay, very very basic, old furniture, our sink is cracked you are provided with no soap to wash your hands and we have two dirty towels for the second day in a row. The pool is also a dissapointment with no filters
Nothing can be done through the hotels in this resort it is all through the tour reps who tell you that three stars in this resort are not the same as those at home, and you cant expect soap to wash your hands. They are so busy trying to sell things and meet happy guests that i have now been waiting 40 hours to get any kind of resolve.
i would suggest for anyone who wants to relax after skiing this is not for you. On the plus the skiing is great.

Stayed in the annex at the Obermair and did not really see anyone, apart from at breakfast in the main hotel building. Clean towels every day and room cleaned, although it could have been a little warmer, the radiator in our bathroom was not on. Breakfast consisted of lots of different types of meats, cheeses, breads, cereals, fruits and boiled eggs, jams, pates and spreading cheese.
The hotel is situated at the end of the town and is in a very quiet area. Only a few minutes walk to some excellent bars and restaurants. The Neue Post being good quality food and service at a very good price.
A ski bus stops outside the hotel about every fifteen minutes, this will take you to the Penkenbahn or the Ahornbahn ski lifts. Ski equipment can be left at the Thomsons office next to the Penkenbahn ski lift to save you walking around town in ski boots; this costs 18 Euros for 5 days.
If you have never skied before be sure to get a comfortable pair of boots before you go up the mountain, even if you have to upgrade for 25 Euros.
We were in town on New Year’s Eve where everyone is out of the bars in the streets at midnight, lots of fireworks, drink and music, great celebration.
Would recommend this holiday to anyone probably something for everybody.
The skiing is tremendous.

I stayed in the hotel Obermair earlier this year with my mate and had an amazing time. The beauty about the location of the hotel is that it is situated just far away from all the noise but at the same time perfect walking distance to go out on the raz and have an awesome night out.
We were both worried about the location before we arrived and thought it was well out of town (like a ten min taxi journey) when looking on local maps, but was quite the opposite. You couldn't get a better location for the price we paid and that’s coming from an 18 year old so it must be located near the nightlife!!
The best thing is that because it is slightly on the edge, the 8 minute walk to the main bars is great as you pass loads of other bars on the way which you probably wouldn't go to if you stayed more in the centre. Would recommend to anyone!! Awesome nightlife and fantastic skiing area!

At first arrival no room was ready, despite booking 2 weeks in advance.had to wait an hour an a half for room to be prepared.
Room was very small, not really large enough for the 3 of us as had been stated. Not sure the bedding was clean as woke up after first niight with many bites.
Very noisy in the morning due to bus depot outside.
Managing family were very rude, especially the father and son.
Room broken into when out on the slopes and we were threatened with the police if we did not pay the 330 euros to have the damaged door fixed.
Fortunately we did not have to stay in the annexe, these rooms are even worse.
