" At The Nazar "

Rooms basic and fairly clean. Staff were very friendly and work very hard, so couldn't moan about them at all! Main moan is the horrendous smell of sewers when sat by the pool or anywhere infact, around the outside of the building! Turns out that the main sewer drains run along side the building! Particularly unpleasant! Breakfast was particularly boring, if you aren't into cucumber, olives, tomatoes and cake for your breakfast, don't bother paying B&B! You can eat out so cheaply it's never worth it!
Be very careful by the lifts, as the doors open outwards and there is little to no room in the corridor to get out the way if someone opens the door quickly, as my husband discovered after being hit full in the face by the metal door, as some excited teen flung the door open with no considreation for the fact that there could be someone walking past!
Would avoid Turkey July & August as it was VERY crowded with Turkish holiday makers, who don't always appreciate you being there! Beach beautiful, sea warm, hassle from shop owners still a pain, although not as bad now.
Take food and drink to Bodrum airport on your way home if needed, as they want £4 just for a can of Coke, or a snack could set you back at least £10!!

Advice: Fairly small, beautiful beach, cheap to eat out

Activities: Dalayan boat trip well worth it, ephesus hot and hard work!

Good for: Beach

" Only 1 word to describe the Nazar is... "

Only 1 word to describe the Nazar is fantastic. It is only rated as a 2 star hotel, but it is one of the best 2 star hotels I have stayed in here in Turkey. The staff were very attentive and the rooms although basic were very clean. Only 1 downfall is the pool backs on to a small sewerage treatments works and sometimes, depending on the wind you can get a smell but the pool area itself is immaculate and the staff always willing to help with sunbeds, drinks, etc. The hotel itself is in a great location - only 2 or 3 minutes and you are on the beach front. Would recommend this hotel to anyone.

My holıday was great, the hotel was great up untıl 13th August 2008, and don't let thıs put you off Altınkum ıtself, but about 10 members of staff from Bıg Nose Bar on the same street ran out ınto the street weıldıng knıves and bıg stıcks and attacked two other men on the street, beatıng them both and stabbıng one of the men, whılst thıs man lay on the floor bleedıng and another man covered hım wıth hıs body to protect hım these anımals contınued to kıck hım, so ıt's up to you as to whether you want to vısıt thıs bar but there are much nıcer and frıendlıer places ın Altınkum.

" I went with 2 of my friends last year... "

I went with 2 of my friends last year and we thought Nazar was great! When the coach first pulled up we were a bit skeptical as it turned down what looked like a narrow passageway which we thought was a bit dodgy but it turned out to be fine and was just us being a bit nervous about being in an unfamiliar place!

The hotel is actually very well situated with restaurants and bars in every direction as you leave the building. Its also a 5 minute walk to the shopping centre and about a 10 minute walk to the beach. You're right in the centre of everything really but far enough out the way to get away from the hussle and bussle should you want to due to the location.

The staff at Nazar were really friendly and always made an effort to strike up conversation whenever they saw you. Smiley in particular was really nice!! There's someone on reception duty 24hrs a day and if we went out after midnight (being 3 young girls) we always got asked where we were going and told to be careful etc which we thought was lovely.

Nazar is about a 30 second walk to the Big Nose Bar which, if you've researched Altinkum, would've heard rave reviews about! Big Nose is situated next to The Swan restaurant which has good food and opposite Narnia which is another restaurant. Staff at Big Nose are great and will have you up off your seats doing their cheesy dance routines with them all night!!!

The only downside to Nazar is if you have young children. We didnt go out late on our first night and could hear music from Big Nose until about 3am so not great for the kids! If however you're like us and dont go to bed until most places have shut, then you'll be ok!! We went back in December/January and rented our own apartment but thats because it was cheap and Nazar was closed but we're going back this summer and will most probably stay there again!
