stop press, jimmy left early august
tenth time in altinkum first time in this hotel, jimmy left on our second day and the standards around the pool area and pool bar left with him in the two weeks we where there the pool and surround was not cleaned once. the management at reception was abismal and all they seemed interested in was charging exorbinant prices for food drinks and ice creams,10 times the price of the supermarket 50 yards away.the rooms were adequet and fairly clean if you dont look under the bed or on top of units.maintainance is near non existent took them two weeks to fix a broken sofa bed although I suspect this was management problem. only entertainment in hotel is pool table at £2 per 30 mins manager has now banned under 16s so what do they do after 6 when pool closes.you are now lucky to find 4 people around pool bar at night and this must be the only hotel in the area that does not open its resteraunt at night because they are too expensive so everybody goes out to eat.chances of getting a pool view unless you are tukish is very limited again a management problem.worst hotel I have stayed at in altinkum and I will not retun again.
meryem ana
stayed at meryem anan in altinkum when first arrived hated it ! then after first day realised we probably had the best apartments in the area! just give it a chance ! walk straight down to the seafront where u will find shops market stalls and bars go 2 swan bar, dolphin square bar both have fab dancers although everynight is exactly the same it does get a bit tedious so dont go everynite! on the way down to the seafront form the appartments go 2 ali baba bar/ restaurant they are really freindly and really cheap and food is tasty all snacks during the day are £1 ! altinkum is really freindly dont be put off by the waiters trying to get u in they are only trying 2 make a living they only get 10% of what is taken which is why they hassle. but they are freindly and once u have been in they do tend to respect u more and not hasse. go 2 didim market on sat it is the cheapest u can get 5 designer bags 4 a tenner (louis vuitton gucci etc) take loads of english money u dont really need to take turkish it works out cheaper if u use english and they love english money. i would go bk but not yet not in no hurry but would return one day
not as good as it was
We went to the hotel with my brother and sister in laws who had stayed there last year and had a great time. Although the hotel was clean and had the facilaties you needed ,there was a strange atmosphere, the prices of drinks has risen very steeply in turkey, the rise is being passed on to the holiday makers which is normal, but when they are asking £4 for a Brandy and coke at the hotel bar, it goes beyond a joke. The bar prices were the biggest reason that on return to the hotel each evening there were no residents at the bar just the bar staff, one of the main attractions to Turkey is the low cost of food and particlar drink take these away and turkey is not such an attractive place to take a holiday. They will soon learn this when they count there profits.Oh and keep your eyes on your bar tabs that you sign to your room number, they have a habit of growing over night. wont be going back!!!!!!!!!!

best hotel in altinkum
Our tenth time in Altinkum, but our first time in Meryem Ana. What a waste of all those visits, when we could have been staying here. Even though we went bed and breakfast,we decided to try the hotel restaurant for a change from sampling different restaurants. So glad we did! We ended up eating there every night, and chef never failed to serve the tastiest dishes. Our holiday was made that bit more perfect by the staff's friendliness, especially Jimmy and Adam(good luck on your wedding day). When we came home,we immediately changed our september accomodation back to here, from the Burak(nothing wrong with the Burak, but not a patch on this one. See you all in september. Barry and Linda.
HOTEL MERYEM ANA
Just got back from a 2 week stay at the MERYEM ANA HOTEL we booked it with thomas cook travel (uk) and in their brochure it told us it was a 2* hotel (how wrong they were). When we arrived at the hotel it had 3* outside and to be honest it should have had 4*.The hotel was clean and the staff were so friendly. The hotel manager Jimmy could not do enough for the guests if you needed anything he would go out of his way and try his best to get it for you (now thats what i call service). The relaxed atmosphere in the hotel is just what we wanted if you wanted music on you could have it around the pool area if you didnt they would turn it off for you. Had their sunday roast dinner there too very nice. As we walked into Dolphin Square we could not believe how many real estate agents we saw in Altinkum (everywhere you look) but no hassle from them. If its your first time in Altinkum try one of the boat trips from the harbour so so relaxing and a good way for blasting your tan. Also take a trip on the Dolmus (mini bus) to the Apollo Temple in Didim see photo.
Excellent hotel
We went to the Meryem Ana last June. People were so friendly, that we decided to go back in October (couldn't believe how warm the weather was). The hotel is in a great position, just far enough away from the noise, but near enough for all of the amenities. It is a clean, spacious place to stay with a lovely pool. All of the staff are so friendly and help to provide a relaxed informal atmosphere. Have no doubts, this is definately a good hotel that should be recommended to everyone. We are definately going back to Altinkum at least twice this year.
luvly place to stay
we went to altinkum in september 2003 ad luved it that much weve booked to go back in 2005 but were stopping in esra this time only as meryem ana hotel sleeps 4 in appartments but would reccomend this hotel to any one
Everything you need
This hotel provides a good base in Altinkum. It is far enough away from the town centre to ensure a good nights sleep. Yet the hotel itself provides all that is necessary for an excellent base, clean comfy rooms, friendly efficient staff, good pool and snack bar and restaurant, terribly good value for money. HIghly recommended.
