" We stayed at this hotel from the 14th... "

We stayed at this hotel from the 14th June -28th June 2006.We read Mrs Hurst’s comments of Jan 2005 after booking, we were concerned at her complaints and paid particular attention to the detail of them.
We found, yes the hotel is very comfortable, clean and efficiently run. It is located in a quiet rural area and has a bus service which runs every 30 minutes to Kitzbuel city centre 7.00 am until 7.00pm. The restaurant is very good.
We found all staff friendly, efficient and committed to ensuring customers requests were met. The team is lead by the owner, who makes a point of speaking to all clients when she meets them. The receptionist is exceptional in that apart from ensuring guests are happy she has an immense local knowledge which she is happy to share and suggest how clients can spend a day exploring (important for walkers).
In the restaurant the food is wonderful and served by excellent staff (including Franz) and the Hotel bus appeared to run every night it was requested by guests and we did not hear of any complaints in this respect. Mrs Hurst’s complaints appear to have been taken on board and dealt with. We have holidayed in Austria twice previously; this was our best Austrian experience to date.

We were a party of eight adults and three children aged between 10 and 11 The hotel is about half an hour or so out of Kitzbuhel but promises a free mini bus into town (however the night we requested it the driver was on his night off, other guests were told he was ill on subsequent nights), to be fair though, after we complained we were taken into town, so you must be prepared to demand the facility

The hotel is lovely, comfortable and clean. The advantage of being out of town is that it’s very quiet. It has a great sauna and steam room in the basement.
<br><br>
The food is very, very good although two of the children in our group felt patronised when offered typical child farye like fish fingers and mash and would have enjoyed a smaller portion of something the adults were eating, but this was not allowed!! This brings me to the major drawback of this hotel, the staff! The owner is frosty faced and managed to upset every guest from the U.K that was visiting at the same time as us (although I personally cannot say she affected me).
<br><br>
There is a bar man called Franz who apparently pleases himself what he does and when he does it. On one occasion my husband and children wanted hot chocolate and were told that they had run out of milk, when my husband asked him to justify himself and explain how a four star hotel cannot offer its guests a warm drink, he miraculously found some!
<br><br>
On my first evening when asked what I would like to drink I said I’d enjoyed the wine I’d found in the mini bar in my room and if possible I would like that again, I was told by Franz that I was to leave that in the room and not to bring it down to the bar, it sounded like I was being told off but at that stage I thought 'surely not' little did I know.
<br>
Everyone, apart from my daughter and myself went into town one evening to enjoy the celebrations for hannenkahm, it was cold and snowing (the races had been called off due to the weather) upon their return at about 11.40 p.m. (I was still in the bar drinking with other guests) they asked again for hot chocolates and Franz refused to serve them and no amount of argument about the bar actually closing at midnight would change his mind, in fact the last thing he said to me as I threatened to tell the Crystal rep. Was 'I do what I like' So, be warned!
<br>
As I have said the food was great. Lovely plates nice tablecloths and napkins, spotlessly clean but the woman who served us nearly decapitated a number of people as she crashed about banging plates down and snatching empty dishes.
<br><br>
I believe that there is a morale problem with the staff of this hotel or possibly they have a problem with the discount given to block bookings although we spent quite a lot of money here, frankly we were treated with contempt.
Of course there were some very nice members of staff, well one! The other bar man.
<br>
We were never offered the farewell cocktail infact we were so disgusted with the indifference we were treated with and how little our enjoyment mattered that I don’t think anyone from our party said goodbye to anyone from the hotel.
If you do go to Kitzbuehl you'll do a lot worse than stay at this hotel but I think the attitude to take is that they are there to serve you and shouldn’t be encouraged to overstep the mark. You should ask specific questions like when is the mini bus available? When does the bar close? And make sure you get specific answers.
<br><br>
This way there is no opportunity for you to upset them as we obviously did committing heinous crimes like ordering hot chocolates, requesting taxis into town to spend our money elsewhere or heaven forbid like one guest did, bring her sleeping child in his pushchair into the hotel lobby dripping melted snow on the marble floor!!!! Ain stay at the Mirador Hotel.

The rooms were clean, tidy and tastefully decorated. Afternoon tea, coffee and cakes was a welcome sight. The food was very good, and the optional packed lunch kept the hunger pains at bay. The owner and one of the more mature waitresses could be a bit frosty, but the rest of the staff were very friendly especially Franz ( I have a pic of him smiling). The Leo Sayer look a like entertainment was very good also.
The down side is, if you miss the bus it's a taxi or a half hour wait for the next one, but a great hotel in a quite location.
