We stayed in these apartments in May last year and have just booked up to go again this year. Our little girl was 3 at the time and thoroughly enjoyed herself. Just so that people know they employed a new chef last year and the food was fantastic. Always at least a choice... more

The only reason that this hotel got 3 points is because it is situated in a beautiful location , right in the middle of 2 lovely beaches which are both within a couple of minutes walking distance . Also each room had lovely sea views . Unfortunately the rest of the holiday... more

hotel overall value for money
We just returned from this hotel last night 13th August 2008. Myself husband and thirteen year old daughter. Although I wouldn't say the hotel was four star it certainly wasn't as bad as some of the comments I have read. The hotel was very clean, the only days the maids didn't clean was a Tues and a Thurs. Other days that they were cleaned they were spotless and the maids always spoke even if it was Spanish hello and goodbye! Reception and the Bar area were also extremely clean along with the restaurant. Ok the food maybe isn't to everyone's taste but surely if travelling to a forigen country you do not expect to get English food all the time! Personally I don't like fish or pork which is served a lot, but there was always some beautiful salad, potatoes and pasta! I never found a problem getting a sunbed, and although sometimes early morning there were paper cups laid on the floor by 8.30am it was all clean and tidy. Yes the hotel is used by a variety of nationalitys but I would like to say they are not all German, we came across Dutch, Spainish, Italian and of course some English. I can't comment on the kids club as my daughter was too old to attend, but I did see some rather impressive face painting been done. Entertainment on a night is I have to admit the worse entertainment I have ever seen and the Spanish Elvis is so bad, its actually funny! The entertainment isn't just for the Germans though. The quiz questions we joined in with were read out in English first, German then Dutch! We did go out one evening for a meal for my husbands birthday and I would highly recommend the Kings Head, the food is lovely and the entertainment there is much better! However on an evening we still enjoyed ourself, you can still laugh even when the entertainers are appalling! All in all I really enjoyed this holiday and Sa Coma is a lovely place which I would certainly return to.
brilliant playa dorada
we have just returned from playa dorada sa coma, we were worried before we went after reading bad reviews on it, i must say we had a fantastic holiday, the rooms are simple ,cleaned regulary, the staff work soooo hard and are very freindly. the only downside were the germans !! too many but we met fantastic families there ( english) and had a lovely time , . the pool was gorgeous, clean, but you do have to get up early to get your towel on a sunbed, we spotted one german doing this at 12.30 am while we were having a drink. the hotel is strict on closing the bar and terrace at 12 so there is no noise for families late at night, you can stay down but you have to be quiet which i think is fair enough. the food was adequate very german but we always had something the kids were ok with it but if you have a fussy eater there is no kiddies food really. a holiday is what you make it and if you have got one booked at playa judge it yourself with an open mind, enjoy, we loved every minute i woud return. s edwards
Never again!
Date: 13th August 2008 This has been the worst holiday hotel we have ever stayed in. It was no way a 3 star more like a 2 star.We payed for all inclusive but spent much of our time away from the hotel because the food was disgusting, cold and repetative. This is a German hotel and everthing is geared for them, mostly the "entertainment" if that is what you would call it. We have been travelling all over the world on all inclusive holdays for many years and never seen anything like this! It was almost embarrassing to watch! The pool area was "cleaned" only once in the 2 weeks we were there. A cleaner came and hosed down the area but did not sweep first so we were left with cigarrette butts, straws and ice cream spoons everywhere. Breakfast starts at 7.30am but if you go before 8.0am the cleaners are mopping OVER your feet with dirty mops and you have to eat your breakfast with the lingering smell of disinfectant. No snacks during the day as indicated. All maids and cleaners miserable apart from one lovely man who tidied the pool area! If you do go to this hotel with children please be aware that the door locks on the bathroom and bedrooms do not always open from the outside with the safety lock if they happen to lock themselves in. My 2 year old grandson did this and a maintenance man was called, but he took 30 minutes to get there! Some doors cannot be opened from the inside which my daughter found in the other apartment when she was locked in the bathroom. A maintenance man was seen climbing through a ground floor bedroom window to allow a maid in for cleaning.TVs and aircon to be paid for in the hotel.Aircon blowing warm.We had to put our alarm on for 5.45 every morning and be out with the towels for the sunloungers before 6.0am to beat the germans. It was unbelievable! Most of those loungers were not used until lunchtime! The ONLY thing this hotel has going for it is the location. It is only two minutes away from the beach and bars and resturants. And believe me you will be glad of them!
beware if you are british !!
We have just returned from a week at the playa dorada hotel, having read all the rave reviews!!! however there are a few points which you need to be aware of. Good points : the location, its right in the middle of sa coma and s'illott so you have two really good beaches to choose from. Its near some good restaurants and bars which you will need to go to if you are to survive your holiday. Bad points: This IS a German hotel, it caters for them in every way and although the hotel itself is not that bad, the food is terrible, the air conditioning is useless ( we did find out that you can hire a fan from a local English man but it was too late in the week to bother) and in the height of summer we were all unable to sleep because of the heat. The entertainment is in German and is obismal so we ended up eating out nearly every night which defeats the object of going all inclusive ( by this term its more like full board with drinks included as there are no snacks available other than cake on an afternoon) The bar stops serving with glasses after 11pm and everything stops at 12 pm. By the end of the week I would say that the number of English guests had increased sufficiently to be bearable. The rooms were ok but you dont get maid service everyday and the towels provided are like hand towels and not much good. Breakfast consists of german sausage eggs fried and scrambled plus the usual continental cheese and ham etc - its aweful and the same every day. There isn't enough choice and for my second all inclusive experience it has put me off for good. It didnt stop us from enjoying our holiday. Sa Coma is a really good resort and I would definately go back but not to this hotel.
Playa Dorada hotel, Sa Coma
Hotel is in a good location, 5 minutes walk from Sa Coma beach. Overlooks rocky part of beach, good for rock pooling with the kids. Small lifts Good size main and childrens pool, i was a bit concerned as during the whole week we were there i never saw the pools being cleaned! Rooms OK, had what we needed, better rooms that i expected, had great balcony and from what i could see all rooms had sea view. Bad points were you had to pay for TV and safe in room even though on All Inc basis. Food not that great, could do with being warmer, never managed to get a warm egg at breakfast. Not alot of choice, need a bit more variety. Ate out in evening due to monotony of meals at lunch time. Drinks were fine, self service machines for fizzy drinks, beer and wine all day long. Coffee, hot chocolate and slush puppy drinks available also. No english tea from what i could see. Free ice creams for kids all day Kids club not good, only went once and that was enough, the day had a jungle theme and the only thing for my son to do was to colour one picture. Have been to other kids clubs and alot better Some things for kids to do in resort, all a short walk away, bike and small kids quads available, bouncy castles, bungey trampolines, kids water park, mini golf. Water park and mini golf about 15 mins walk away.
not great at all
we are currently staying at the this hotel, i thought i would just write the review now so its fresh in my head, we are here with our daughter who is 15 months, the hotel is no way a 3 star, sum websites have rated it a 3 and a half to 4 star but on the wall of the building it says 3star and it does not add up to this at all. the weather has been the only good thing, 1st u cannot get a sunlounger in the morning unless u are up at 7am, the hotel is full of germans, the food is ment for them too, as well as the entertainment, the staff are even german. there is no entertainment for adults just kids and it is the same evey night, with the same old cd. sa coma its self is has a really nice beach but thats it, there isna anything to do , i am just back from magaluff 2 weeks ago, and although it is busy there are areas to go for families and i would highly recommend it, as u will be very bored here. we payed 600 pounds each to stay here all inclusive but it is not worth it, please believe me. unless u are german do not stay at this hotel.also we are on level 1 of 7 floors and the noise at night is very loud as the entertainment blair out the music till 11.30 everynight, not so good for us as we have a little girl.
Loved The Hotel
My family stayed at this hotel and we loved it the stay was not long enougand. The kids entertainment was fantastic and they kept them entertained all day.The pool area was very clean and secure for all the children in the hotel.Food was ok we had no complaints,Would go again. From Rich,Lisa,Jayden
fantasatic holiday
I have just returned from this hotel there was 11 of us, it was my henweekend, but i am 37 years old so didnt want a club 18- 30 night life if i had wanted that i would have gone to magaluf. The hotel i would say is 4 star, the food was really, really good eveyone always found something to eat. we all enjoyed everything about his hotel and had a fantastic time.Entertainment was ok but didnt bother us as we made our own!!!! location great a short walk to bars and shops.Woulld go back definetly.
Good Holiday
As there were no reviews on this hotel when we left i found i had to let u know what it was like. What can i say hotel was very good, good staff, clean, good location only thing was quiet alot of Germans etc this was no problem but the food was geared more for them as this was an all inclusive hotel u do not go hungry if u do it is ur own fault. We ate out a couple of times at the Britannia Pub, food was very good and priced ok as u do like to get a bit of freedom. We were sold this as a 4star hotel which it aint but still was an ok hotel there was no snack bar which i thought there should have been in an all inclusive hotel as some time its nice to have a snack rather than have a meal overall i would give this hotel 8 out of 10. The entertainment was crap but most of them are i would say probally the worst that we have had in 10 all inclusive holidays in 6 years.Sa Coma is a nice quiet area for a very relaxing holiday with plenty to do for a week great views from hotel as every room has a sea view will go back sometime but we like to see different areas of Majorca.
Playa Dorada,Sa Coma-Well Worth A Visit
We have just returned from a fortnight at the Playa Dorada in Sa Coma, Majorca, and although at first we were slightly disapointed to find it was only a 3 star aparthotel when we were told it was a 4 star, we soon changed our minds. The hotel was very clean and the staff were very pleasant and happy to help with any problem you had. It is an all inclusive hotel and we found the food in the restaurant to very good with plenty of choice with a buffet service. The bar was open from 10am till midnight with most drinks being self service so that you and the kids can just go and help yourselves without asking anyone. The same with the ice-creams for the kids, they can just grab one when they like, which they found to be fantastic. The pool area was kept very clean and was always very busy and lively but was still a nice place to relax in the sun. The main criticism we have was with the night time entertainment, or should I say the lack of it. The kids entertainment was a bit repetitive but the kids seemed to enjoy it, but the adults part needs a bit more thought going into it, quite a bit. There was plenty to do throughout the day with the beach only about 100 mtrs from the hotel which had all the usual activities on it, or for those who just want to relax the pool was perfect. Overall we had a very good holiday only let down a bit by the night time adult entertainment, but would still reccomend it for a family holiday.
