Rambla Hotel

My friend and I arrived on Saturday, 21st February to find that a carnival was in progress! The main road was closed and everyone was in fancy dress watching processions and rock bands. Fantastic atmosphere throughout the city! The hotel is in a prime position. We had a room with balcony on the top (6th) floor. Quite basic but very good for a 2 star hotel. We stayed at the Rambla Hotel for 4 nights from 31st January 09 till 5th February 09. We got a lovely room on 5th floor with an enclosed balcony. The room was lovely and absolutely spotlessly clean. Lovely bathroom. We could see the Marina from the balcony. We had Breakfast in the hotel each morning. It was very basic but adequate. A few types of breads, sliced cheese and ham, butter and jam. We stayed at this hotel at the end of January 2007. If you are getting the c6 airport bus from Alicante Airport it stops right outside the hotel. The cost of the trip €1. We were given a room on the second floor. One of the smallest doubles that I have ever been in, however it had an enclosed balcony that further extended the room. We noticed a strong smell of disinfectant that was masking another smell of drains. For the first two days the smell of the drains would waft about the place from time to time. We have just spent a week in Alicante (Feb/March 2005). Weather was awful, could have been in the UK. Alicante is a lovely city though. Very easy to get about, lots of bars, restaurants even for oldies like us. Trips by train and bus also easy to make. We stayed in La Rambla Hotel. As name suggests it overlloks the main street in Alicante. Great city views. Amazing value hotel. I would be surprised if anywhere in the UK could be as cheap. Certainly not big city centre hotels.
